Celtic having cash means, as you say, that other clubs put prices up. The January window was the time to put at least two good players into the squad. The Board for their own reasons failed to do this.
It's increasingly looking like it will be Rangers who get the title and thus the extra money it brings in.

100% mate. Scales has been one of our best players this year, although that wouldn't be too hard, but the hate he gets is unbelievable. He battered on about Starfelt who couldn't pass a ball 10 yards but there you go, got to put the blame on someone and Scales seems to be the scapegoat.

Maybe Celtic won't spend the money on new players and/or maybe other clubs won't sell players to us. Another huge issue is that many players don't want to play in the SPL. When Celtic do actually.manage to sign decent players we are usually only a stepping stone for them.

Completely agree with the centreback assessment. I would love to see CCV and Nawrocki playing the ball quickly out from defence, it could make all the difference to the team.
I think it would help. On the flip side, it's not like we're defensively solid with Scales so what's to lose?
Have been critical at times with Hart... mainly for flapping at times and being rooted to his line when he should be dominating his area. But can't deny his leadership and ability have been great for us. His recent form is what has us clinging on by our fingernails.
I feel we need to progress forward with two pivots, whether that is Taylor coming in the way he does or a second dm, building just through Callum has became too predictable, we need to keep it simple and get the ball out our half quickly, not panicked but one or two passes out of a press rather than 2 or 3 inviting one.. Personally I'd go 4231 with Iwata in dm and O'Riley in 10..

Scales is probably one of the very few players that have played above himself this season so you are being very unfair taking time to single him out for criticism. One of the few that works his socks off.
quite frankly paul is talking mince re scales , the reason celtic lost two points last week was bernabei lost his man at the cross ball ,he moved away from him and left the space for the killie lad to get onthe end of cross , bernabei has zero football brain/spatial awareness, scales has been one of th few pass marks this season.
Working your socks off doesn’t mean you’re good enough. He’s fundamental to building the play out from the back and isn’t capable of it.
I didn’t blame Scales for the loss of two points. I criticised his poor passing out from the back. Incidentally, who lost the header from the long ball that led to Kilmarnock’s goal?

The Idah experiment hasn't worked? Every time both him and Kyogo have played together we've won or have been winning until Idah went off. You must know but now Paul that Kyogo up front on his own hasn't worked this season and isn't suddenly going to!

We’re going to lose our automatic Champions League spot after next season. Celtic seem to just think they can win the league every season, rely on Rangers to do all the work in Europe and bank £40m for getting in to the CL. We’re about to get overtaken by the Czech league, which I’m sure Rangers and Celtic have much bigger budgets than Slavia and Sparta Prague.
Are yous ever going to address your garbage European results, or just continue to fixate on being slightly better than Rangers in the league? Honestly it might be a good thing to finish second and go in to the Europa League next season, then focus on having a decent run there. Celtic need to get used to winning in Europe again.

Spot on about the overly conservative way the club is run. Rangers have shown they're willing to take a risk in order to be competitive and it has worked for them to an extent. You have to speculate to accumulate. If we took a "risk" on a better quality of player that ought to translate into better European performances. If you perform well in Europe the value of the whole squad rises imo. Look at the Ajax team that got to the UCL semis a few years ago, several of their players went for silly money. I'm not saying we could reach those levels, but why not try instead of constantly settling for mediocrity and project players.
Old rangers got liquidated due to bad financial decisions ie cheating.

Scales isn’t the problem this season mate he has been one of our best players this season.
He is a huge part of the problem. And if he's been one of our best players, that tells you how bad we've been. Can't pass it, doesn't defend well, positionally poor, slow. Can you tell me what he's good at?
Can't pass he has nothing to pass to no movement in the midfield or up front he's our best defender after ccv most consistent. He's basically playing with a new CB every game that can't be easy for him. I know he shouldn't be celtic CB but I don't think he's been that bad all season. The full team has been rotten and he been half decent all season. Just my opinion
It's a bizarre attack on Scales. He was man of the match in a champions league game this season FOR distribution from the back of which he is the best of the players we have at centre back Inc CCV. Not a single mention of Stephen Welsh of late who complete defaults any responsibility to pass it fwd in order to leave it all on Scales.
Matt O'Reilly was the lazy reason that Killie came through the midfield right before the equaliser last week. Shouldn't be relied upon given the last few appearances before that to. Needs to turn up as do many many others

Scales is in my opinion decent technically but poor speed wise .. he maybe looks technically not that good due to his lack of speed. .. agree he is nowhere near as good as what need back there .. we should have top quality next to CCV .. no one seems to want the jersey badly enough

Apart from hetate then for BR he essentially has a first choice team. If his team still can't play how he wants then what? We have zero creativity in the midfield,far to much of them are very similar.i would start hart,taylor,vickers,scales,johnston,....mcgregor and oriley in the centre and have 2 wingers abada on the left and maeda on the right ......up forward kyogo and palma who is the best of a bad bunch don`t rate oh or idah for the size of them.celtic lack wingers they are not spread out enough to tight together as a team this year.
