Decades ago I lived in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Their air museum has the only other airworthy Lancaster and I remember when they first flew it over the city doing tests. That sound is something that gets into your bones - one Merlin good, four Merlins spectacular. I could only imagine the terror Germans felt when hundreds of these planes were overhead, signalling with their deep chorus that they were about to drop death on their heads. Had a long dead neighbour who was a flight engineer on Lancs (post war) and he described his job as "busy", but he loved that plane.
@@suzyqualcast6269 It's nothing you can really describe or quantify. It doesn't much matter whether they're Merlins or the big 18 cylinder radials. Google Martin Mars water bombers. I've seen them close up at anchor and doing training runs on Sproat Lake, BC. Once I was privileged to see one just after dropping a load of water when the plane came over my house in Nanaimo, still dribbling water at about 400 ft, banking hard to starboard and gaining altitude fast after losing the weight. I knew how big they were but seeing this incredible machine seemingly clawing its way through the sky is a sight and sound I will never forget. Videos don't do justice to the awesome sight and how deep into your gut the sound of those engines reaches. Remarkable.

Goede excellente video, mr 32TFS Aviation. Je kunt zeggen van die malloten aan de andere kant van de wastafel wat je wilt. Maar vliegtuigen bouwen kunnen ze. Even als de motoren die grom die de lijn blokken produceren haal je er zo uit. Zou best eens met zo'n kist mee willen vliegen maar dat willen er waarschijnlijk zo veel dus helaas zal dat een wens blijven. Groet uit Zandvoort.
