Nice work getting started! This is a great video :) I’m still rocking the 4K.. Would love to upgrade but can’t justify the extra investment when the 4k does everything i need :)
Thanks Matt. Indeed, it’s only ever worth the upgrade when the gains are more than marginal.
Same! Also I’m not a big fan of the 6K format as I don’t need all that resolution.
Because even a Marathon starts with a pace, I liked the theme, the way it was presented and it deserved my 'Like' and subscription.
I'm sure other things will come, happiness and many successes.
Thanks for the encouragement and feedback it’s much appreciated.
Brilliant comparison video. Food for thought indeed!
Glad you liked it!
Informative and well done!
Thanks so much!
I love my 4k like the og .....if the pyxis was a MFT i be interested....subbed
Making this video made me realise just how much I still love it!
Excellent comparison video, thanks! As a current Pocket 4K user, the Pyxis is a natural upgrade path for me. The BM RAW is so nice to work with; and I have been waiting for a BM Box style form factor, I did not upgrade to the Pocket 6K, as the Box form factor release is inevitable.
Thanks! I think with the PYXIS’s release a lot of BMPCC 4K owners will make the same transition.
Nice work. Although I’m indifferent about the title. These cameras are different tools for different jobs - not really an upgrade. 2 different sensor sizes. Creatively the M43 vs 35mm sensors have their own place, as a specific tool that captures a specific look, for a specific job. I say own both.
Thanks. Definitely food for thought for potential buyers of either camera. I’m with you on owning both too!
I lov my 4k very much
Glad to hear it!
Wow
Thanks so much!
I am thinking of buying into the BM ecosystem, but a 12 month warranty scares me 🥺
That is like BM telling everyone they don't take their own product seriously.
I can definitely recommend them. Ultimately I can only speak from my own experience, but my bmpcc 4K is still very much going strong, with no signs of slowing down after buying from new in 2020. Maybe firmware updates and support for the cinema camera line up, which now dates back 6 years, could count towards putting your mind at ease that BMD intend for their offering to hold up over time. I’d love to know what you opt for in the end and what sways your decision.
Great comparison! Improve sound and go conquer CZcams!!!)
Thanks! Will do!
It wouldn't be a proper cinema camera if they added autofocus. But otherwise great review.
Thanks so much for the positive feedback. Indeed, with the expectation from many of using fully manual cinema lenses, the PYXIS remains true to the moniker. I think people start to think of Sony’s ‘cinema’ camera line up when comparing the PYXIS’ lack of autofocus capability. The high end Burano even has AF with the right lens on the front, albeit, I’ve not only managed but continue to enjoy using my BMPCC 4K without it.
these black magic camera s are just repackage pocket 4ks processors with different sensors added to them.
they use cheap tricks like cropping into the sensor, instead of down-sampling, to get lesser formats and more frame rates.
so, if you have some noises at open gate, you ll have big popcorn noises of the same image crop to 1080 for examlpe.
Black magic carmera s do have a good image given adequate lighting condition.
Blackmagic 6K Pro Pocket or Panasonic LUMIX S5IIx seem like a better value than the Pyxis for now.
3K fOR a box frame + 2k for needed elements = 5k or more....
The performance of your chosen camera is definitely a big consideration when considering the conditions you’ll be doing the majority of your work in.
So in other words, Blackmagic are pissing on our legs and telling us it's just rain
