Home made walnut finish? I’m impressed!
Thank you, it was a learning experience. Things were said, questions were asked, it got weird.

Rooster: Ok you can sleep awhile longer
You should try somme filework on that Brass spacer or engraving it and engraving every brass part Very good work
@@CarlDoucet-jm5kqThank you, I tried engraving a while back, it wound up looking like I used a sledge hammer on it. Lol. I need to develop that skill. I agree with you, that would be really nice.
I woulda got rid of the brass spacer and used wood or just glued the stock halves together. Long as your redoing the finish. Patchbox placement is done by drawing a line from center of lock panel to center of butt curve. You got it pretty close. Keep on having fun with a great hobby.
Thank you, I'll certainly kick that around on the next one. Thanks also for the locating information. Every time I start one of these projects i stare at it, make a plan, and hit the gas pedal. With the experience and help from others the plans get easier and the projects more fun. Thanks for the encouragement.
The nose cap mounts to the barrel with two screws. If you set the fore-end wood back then you have to drill and tap new holes for the nose cap.
Or use a different fore-end tip.
I am building one now. I hope drill out the holes a bit and glue in dowels and to use Tite-Bond Translucent Glue to glue it all up.
I didn't get a nose cap with my kit so I will have to use a new cap.
👍
You did a nice job on refinishing and inlay work. The only thing is you should have used straight slotted dome head screws in the cap box. The era that gun is portraying never had phillips head screws. Overall very nice work.
Thank you for the information. As soon as I read your comment I was like " ohhhh, yeah". Thank you for the correction. I need to expand my fastener supply. Thanks again
I’ve got a flock of peacocks, that I been telling that they are not welcome at my place. And don’t worry they have not been harmed, unless you count their hurt feelings.
I'd like to see you do a whales tail patch box on a CVA Kentucky longrifle
I have recently acquired a Kentucky that is in need of a stock. I'll have to get some material, but I will incorporate a whales trail in it...... I'll try to incorporate a whales trail in it, lol I'll be sure to credit you with the idea, thanks
Nice work, and you made it look easy. I've been wanting to put a patch box on my Hawken Renegade but have been dragging my feet. I'm not very handy anymore but seeing how easy it looked, im down for it now. Thanks for the video.
Thank you,I'm glad I could help. My wife wishes I would maybe think through things before jumping in, which is no fun. Lol
