@@yumeesc Well said! I'm sure Hyeonju's mom is happy that Hyeonju got this opportunity to embrace her other culture, as she seemed to have involved Hyeonju in various Filipino activities/festivities when she was much younger. But as an idol who had to move to Seoul at a young age to pursue her dreams (far away from her family on the opposite side of South Korea), the chances to visit the Philippines stopped short. And as a public figure, she must have been cautious about what to reveal about herself.
One thing I notice is that Filipinos have VERY diverse looks, more than Koreans who seem homogenous. But Koreans think we only have this one set of look (brown skin, flat nose) that's why they get so surprised. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, lol, because they can't fathom us being pure (full) and looking like that. The fact that they're all super surprised is a bit concerning actually. Like how do they even see us?
You have to keep in mind that one thing that increased the shock factor in this video is that I never told them anything about the girls’ origins before the reveal towards the middle of the video. However there is also a reason why they see us that way. I lived abroad most of my life (In the Middle East, and USA specifically), and I have been to Korea as well. To tell you the truth, we Filipinos (Specifically OFWs) do have a certain look. It’s not like these stereotypes didn’t exist for a reason. In fact Filipino-Americans seem to be pushing this narrative of what a stereotypical Filipino looks like as well. So I really I have a feeling that it has to do with what a majority of Filipinos look like at a specific place. In the Philippines, we are bombarded by (1) halfies and mixed-raced Filipinos on media (Specifically mestizos/mestizas), and it is very common to find (2) Filipino-Chinese people (Chinitos/Chinitas) here as well which is why it’s easier for us to know how diverse we are. But to tell you the truth, it is more common to see brown-skinned Filipinos abroad. If you don’t fit this, it’s very common to hear “you don’t look Filipino” anywhere in the world. There’s a socio-economic reason for this and I wouldn’t get too deep into it. But just know that there’s a reason why we do videos like this on my channel. I was able to watch Universe Ticket and my bias are Ghelee and Elisia. I will surely be supporting UNIS as I am a kpop fan, currently following HORI7ON too! 😍
That's so cool ❤
K-pop and kdrama has always been popular in Phillipines since first Gen k-pop so its obvious sooner or later we are gonna have more Filipinos k-pop stars. ❤ I jope these group become big and these filipina members will have solid career in k-pop industry
Thank you for the good reaction 😊😅..
Daisy speaks in a very educated way. She seems so kind.
Let’s not forget Chanty is also a Filipina in the girl group Lapillus.
Elisia is really a star
I know this is not related to the video, but Daisy is so pretty! She kinda remindas me of a mix of Park Eun Bin and Park Go Eun during her Cheese in the Trap days
Gehlee dangca is really pretty😊😊
David's English skills are on point.
same birthday jin hyeon ju😭😭😭
Nice video ❤
I hope you can also let them react to the performances in Universe Ticket 🤞🏻
Fighting!😁✌
I really love Gehlee
Filipino line is ready to show us what they can do
Wow 😮
Im a new subscriber tommy click from Kentucky USA I love your channel
Go Unis❤❤❤❤
2:32 "She's so good at dancing that she can debut right away"
Well, on that note... 👀
I don't know but I'm always waiting for daisy's screentime 🥹 she's so cute and pretty 🥹
Hori7on are also all Filipino Kpop group. More Filipinos to come in the KPOP scene
Elisiaa❤
Oh man I didn't know Elisia was starship trainee although she's very young but could've debut in Ive. I mean she's an all rounder easily adds powerhouse to the group although it seem to be that that time she was too young to debut Unis completely fits her tho
I want to know what the other girl means about "some common bad stereotypes of how South East asians look like" especially Filipinos from a South East Asian point of view. Might be a good topic to ask for interviews later on.
I really wanted Aya Natsumi i love her deep voice and in as i told you it was her vanesya and yewon era
Hoping that they had chance to watch UNIS in the Philippines if they are still there and available.
I meet Filipinas this pretty all the time, but you don't see them on TV. For some reason PH media doesn't promote this look. The second two really look PInay, I recognized it right away. The first one didn't surprise me. Korean DNA is very potent. Even 1/4 Koreans look like Koreans.
filipinos are actually the most talented and prettiest people I've ever seen for real, there isn't something they can't do!! seriously
(not important)
edit: I am not from the Philippines!! I have always been intrigued by other cultures and Filipino people (?) really caught my attention when I saw several videos of them effortlessly hitting high notes and then more recently saw that they dance well (innah bee being my fav).. and then when I saw the food they make (like jeanal(?)) and then I also watched a video of miss universe of the year and filipinas won many times!! that's why I commented this
lol
cringe ah. overproud nmn masyado
@@pepperflu742 I do not understand what you're saying, I'm really not Filipina although I wish I was as talented lol
@@lemonjuice6715 I think s/he mistaken you as Filipino. Because there were many Filipinos that overprouds in Filipino youtube videos
@@pepperflu742whats wrong being overly proud. Those colonizers from hundred of years prevent us from being human😊
Bruh, why would you diss your younger sister like that? LMFAOOOOO
The guy speak English well like a real English local, I can’t hear any intonation of being a Korean , his pronunciation is very clear which is most important and the grammar is perfectly good!! Kudos to the teacher
i realize this is a bit off topic but thanks to countries like the phillipines, korea is now a strong independent country,,, thanks to all the brave grandads that fought in the korean war!!! South korea loves the phillipines...together we stand n divided we fall....
Elisia, ghelee,Jin hyeon-ju, there 3 Pinay in girl group unis.
wooowww Filipina 🥰😍😘💞💞💕
Star magic talent iba din talaga kumuha nang talent eh
