Glad u watched this version. How good was that prison instrument playing!? For people that dont like this song in Australia its actually legal to bury them alive. True story.

Jimmy’s “scream” is technically “belting” which just means singing loudly and forcefully. You can tell it’s belting and not screaming because it’s got a vibrato in it. There’s no vibrato in a scream. Cold Chisel was blessed to have both Barnes and Moss as lead vocals.

Lol Jimmy barnes a man that can scream through a rock song but can then turn around and put out a Christmas album and sing a beautiful scottish song in memory of a friend of his that just passed

Jimmy uses 3 different singing voices...... his preferred granite crushing blues / rock belting voice goes from baritone up to a very high tenor.
His much sweeter rock / ballad voice goes from baritone up to tenor.
His backing vocal voice goes from tenor / baritone up to female blues / soul diva range..... and can be pristine and pure.
This was their reunion tour 2003 , now go back 20 years to their farewell tour ..... The Last Stand tour of 1983.
Witness them doing the Wild Thing...... life will never be the same afterwards. lol

I might be wrong but in America the harmonica is often called the harp or mouth organ. Great reaction this is by far the best version of this song. Could you check out another Australian singer Guy Sebastion singing Battle Scars acoustic version home front. Guy originally sung this song with Lupe this his solo version of that song and is a must listen.

AC/DC with the brilliant Bon Scott beats River Plate any day. I grew up seeing them live in the mid 70’s as a teenager and they were fricking excellent. Never wanted to see them after Bon died. I saw the best!!!!

Great reaction. So much Oz music to catch up on.
Your next stop has to be a recent cover of Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' by Kasey Chambers a country superstar over here. Don't be put off -this is incredible.
    Others to see. old and new are;
'Power and the Passion' live - Midnight Oil - Oils on the water.
'Hold Me' - The Teskey Brothers (live at the Forum)
'Brother' - Matt Corby ( live - Like a Virgin JJJ)
'All the boys in town' - The Divinyls
And so so so much more Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, The Angels, Hunters & Collectors, Oils, Nick Cave and John Farnham from the day.
    Enjoy the deep dive

Australian artists: AC/DC (Riverplate concert), INXS (anything will be just fine), Chisel, John Farnham (Melbourne symphony orchestra concert)... Your comment re: CZcams? Absolutely agree. Would have never discovered Morissette, GiGi De Lana, KZ, Alip Ba Ta...

  • @yendor9078

Yeah DAME you got to agree, this is the better version. Thanks for taking the interest and playing this. Hey if you would like to hear some very kick arse Australian hip hop could you please play Exit Sign by The Hilltop Hoods. I just know you will love it, we all do. Thanks in advance. Also, My life by Bliss n Eso another Aussie hip hop band, This song and clip is the most inspirational track I have seen/ heard. It is okay to shed a tear or 2 while reacting to it. Or if you like hard core rap we have Chillinit, Wombat or Onefour if you are into drill. and many many more Australian bands of all genres. Can't wait for you to react to any of these. What styles of music do you like? I subscribed. Thanks.
