My expectation to her is different also, since i first saw her ingame through chapter 4 story clips, not her voice directly. When first time hearing her voiceline through Wiki and set her up as my Adjutant, i actually surprised. Her voice actually for me sounds a little bit too cute for smug aura, surprisingly her voiceline is also showing more of cute side rather than her being smugs to you, although she will still tease you sometimes. In any case 45 is cute and precious smugtease, and i glad she act just like what i though she will be in the Anime.

Well... one of Hypergryph's founder, lowlight/umineko was the one who was responsible for writing the early GFL story and also AR team's character design. W's concept design was made alongside AR team on the same page. So they're lowkey a sister i think

If there is anything I want from the English Dub of this series, is that they should get the folks from Radio 404 to reprise their roles in team 404. Something about their dubs fit with the character better than the Japanese ones.

She doesn't change persona, she instead has multiple facets to herself that comes out on display depending on situation. That same voice can also become cold and menacing too especially when she tells her enemies to go die in her skill lines. Personally I think the best fit EN dub for 45 is done by the VA for the 45 figma in Moonshine Animation's UMP45 figma review.

If you actually read her dialogue for chapter 4 UMP45 there is always that music mark where the punctuation is to indicate her going for the teasing tone despite the general menace she exults in the scene. That is also the voice you expect to hear every time she says 'When was I ever wrong?', a line she always says to shut down scepticism or any doubts raised about her plans and tactics, much to 416's irritation (usually because as dubious 45's plans can sound, they are very rarely wrong). And it works very well for those moments she says it's just a coincidence she's around the area when she's needed (in Singularity, where Ange retorted that it's never a coincidence whenever 45 is involved).

Well, in fact if I know in my experience reading all the full story, before the Butterfly Incident (In the Deep Dive if I remember) UMP45, UMP40, M16A1 and HK416 had worked in Security bureau, and well it a little dark to tell but you should solve the myth by what I had told above thats just what I had read
SPOILER: . . . . . . . . Well, following the story, in the Butterfly Incident, M16 had a mission (from 16Lab) to search and destroy anything and anyone related to that incident, including UMP45 (that's their first showdown, UMP45 was nearly killed by M16 but luckily could ran away and took an eye of M16). After that, M16 memory was altered, she hardly remember things related to it. She took back her memory when came back to the old Security Bureau and collect something from the incident, then after that, she betrayed G&K and 16Lab because she knows they are related to that incident, also she wants to kill Mastermind one for all and investigates more about things, so she joins SF. Also, why 416 and 45 wants to kill M16 so hard? From their POV, she is a betrayer, and that killing intention is harder when M16 joins SF. Edit: Oh yeah, one more reason that M16 joins SF, she loves M4 and don't want M4 to involve into this war. So she chooses to act as a lone wolf.

nah its not that literally a "gijinka" quick lore.. actually the are just a bunch of maid android for "civil use" and transform it into mercenary combatant because budget. and to avoid the real human to get attached by one of the android girls they are named by the outdated gun they are specialized with......and yes some of them do have "real name" in their past. for example is ump9's real name is Reina.
You see there's a difference between subtext and a cryptic nonsense foreshadow talking head scene. Yaknow Everytime I see anything relating to story in mobile games I need to physically stop myself from writing an essay breaking down everything awful about arknights writing. Pick a random franchise you like and chances are you'll very easily find fanfiction with better writing.
Between different writers coming and going and gacha games' need to string things out in general, yeah the writing in various franchises can be pretty frustrating.

Yaknow Everytime I see anything relating to story in mobile games I need to physically stop myself from writing an essay breaking down everything awful about arknights writing.
Pick a random franchise you like and chances are you'll very easily find fanfiction with better writing.
Between different writers coming and going and gacha games' need to string things out in general, yeah the writing in various franchises can be pretty frustrating.
Have you read the guide how to write like Arknights? It's pretty funny.

There's a brief one before this, but 45 only appeared on the last chapter so far and this is srguably her longer scene. Iirc she only reappears a couple game chapter later, in Deep Dive.
