I really appreciate how you don't feel the need to add music to your videos. You are comfortable with a moment of silence. I love being able to hear the sounds of nature in the background. Very peaceful.
Same here, with 50% of my hearing off is a video with music almost impossible to understand the spoken words in.
Totally agree. I love the no music too.
I agree! She is so smart and shows such a love of sharing her ups and downs! A real treasure!
Diatomaceous Earth. Slugs hate it .Safe for kids and animals.
I've been watching you garden for three or maybe four years now, and I see clearly how much your knowledge base has grown, and you also seem to be much more intentional about what you grow and how you grow it. That garden isn't the only thing that 's growing!
Wow that is so incredibly kind of you! Thanks so much :)
I was thinking the same thing. We may never know.
Love your garden and your knowledge keeps growing thank you for sharing. I heard a story that if you place a shallow dish with some beer in it the slugs will go for that versus your plants. Sad but think they drink themselves to passing away. Anyway used this method years ago and think it worked but don't really remember. Have only been able to container garden for the past 10 years or so. Any way you are awsome keep growing
I love ranunculus, but it must be too hot here to grow it. I know my basil and dill bolted at the end of May. Your flowers are stunning! I enjoy looking at them even if I can’t grow them.
I used to grow a lot of flowers, especially roses. Fresh flowers from the garden are so rewarding. Have a wonderful day, Debbie 😊@@murlthomas2243
Life has thrown me a few hard blows, and I had basically given up on living life fully. Watching you has inspired me so much that I have started my vegetable garden again and put flowers in my beds again. I have honeybees and chickens now. I admire you, and watching your videos inspires me so much. Thank you for sharing your time. Happy Father's Day to your loved ones.
I’m new to gardening and it gives me lots of joy, I hope your gardening will do the same for you 💕 And that’s exciting you have honey bees and chickens! I’m not brave enough to be around so many bees but I can see why people have them. I understand chickens are fun to have. What a treat to have fresh eggs from your girls 😊
@@NeboAllen I started a garden for the first time this year too. It’s in the Green Stalk so I kinda cheated, lol. Happy gardening!
Becky inspires me as well. I struggle quite a bit and really look forward to her content. It sounds like you have really done well! You should be proud of yourself. 💯❤️
Love and Light to you!❤
@@mastiffmom2592 I don’t think that’s cheating at all. You’re growing plants and it doesn’t matter where! I’m all in containers myself🤓
Happy Father's Day, Josh and dads on here🎉
You harvest vegetables and you pick flowers.
Waiting for a TV network to pick you up! Becky, you are so natural on camera. You do such an AMAZING job of taking us along with you, explaining what you are doing and why, sharing fun stories, experience, and lessons learned along the way, and not afraid of a little silence in your videos without trying to cram in every second with words. Your videos are so peaceful without feeling rushed and I appreciate all the tidbits I am learning! THANK YOU! 👏❤️
She makes more money doing it independently. You tube pays very well for large channels. You can look up her net worth to see for yourself.
I'm 48 this week and I've just started my first garden :) inspired by yourself!
Happy Birthday 🎂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLAIRE! Good luck on your first garden. Enjoy life.
Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy you garden! I am 53 and have Planted my first herbs 🌿
I’m 58 and my first garden this year is in the Green Stalk. Does that count? 😂 Happy Birthday!
Thank you all!
I say garden .. mines a container garden, more due to looking to move home so I can take with 😀
Those ranunculus are so so beautiful. That bouquet was just awesome!
I can't begin to imagine how wholesome your life must have been to turn you into the person you are today.
You inspire me, Becky.
I’d love to see Becky be a mom. Their little family is probably so sweet. My DIL is a wonderful mother. I love to watch her with my beautiful granddaughter.
If you boil tomato leaves and steep them like tea, let it cool and put it in a spray bottle it's a great insect repellent on most vegetable plants; the wax on the leaves is unappealing to most pests, and it's 100% safe to use, no chemicals.
😮 that’s awesome! I need to prune a little and I’ll give it a shot. Something is eating my one and only surviving cabbage plant. Probably better than need oil?
Cabbage moths are horrible, if that's what's eating them? You can take a leaf that's been chewed to a garden center and they might be able to tell you your pest.. I've used neem oil; I think you have to use that before you have a problem, or right when you first spot one for it to work really well.....I'm no expert, these are just things my grandma's told me. Good luck!
Oh wow! What a great tip. Thank you for sharing. 💯
Happy father's day Josh and Becky's dad!! Love you acre family🥰
I had never seen garlic scapes before watching you garden. Last week I went to a new farmer’s market by me and they had garlic scapes. I was so excited. I cooked them up with bok choy and the beet leaves. So delicious.
So my grandson who is 11 stays with me several days through the week in the summer. He loves to garden and likes to help me cook in the kitchen when he is with me. I am very proud of him, he has many interest that do not involve video games.
His absolute favorite thing to watch is not cartoons or tv shows. He ask me when he comes over if he can watch Becky. He runs for the tv and turns on CZcams to see what you have uploaded. He loves the flowers you have in your garden and asked tonight if I would plant more flowers next year. So guess I need to look for more flower seeds. Think I’m going to see if I can grow some carnations as he loves those. Think maybe keeping him a lot when he was young for my daughter has paid off. He is very much a farm kid. We have always had chickens. When we were in Alaska we had goats, sheep, geese, ducks, chickens, and cows. I could not grow much other than containers because of where we were. Now we still have chickens but can raise so much more garden wise being in Florida. This is a big new adventure for all of us and he is discovering he likes growing things to eat. So thank you for giving him something to look at other than video games and cartoons. And inspiring him to grow new things and try new foods.
I can’t stop staring at your flowers while you are prepping everything else! They are simply gorgeous!!
You sure are brave wearing white in the garden. You could put me all dressed in white in a clean room and tell me to sit for an hour and i sure would come out with a dirt spot some where or two. LOL
Yep! Me too! Guaranteed.
😎😂🦘
We have GOT to be related! I’m not even allowed to buy white any more!
@@StuckinNormal Me either to much maintenance lol
Becky thats at least a $100 bouquet if purchased commercially, u should be very proud of yourself, absolutely beautiful!
Natural deterrent for slugs is to take dried egg shells and grind them up a bit (not to a powder) and sprinkle around plants. They dont like the rough edges and they add calcium to the soil. Maybe your girls would be willing to give up some for the garden.😊
Wow! I had no idea. Central Texas has a lot of snails. They are everywhere. Boy, when we get rain, they all come out of the woodwork. It's crazy. Thank you for the tip. Much appreciated 😊
Please try cheap beer in a pie tin set on the dirt in the garden. Snails and slugs crawl in and drown. Empty and repeat. Do it enough and it greatly disturbs their breeding and eventually you should have alot less to none. Good luck.
Also Sluggo Plus works good.
Seconding the beer traps. Granted, we have modest slug pressure and this keeps it under control. Cabbage moths, cucumber beetles, aphids and Japanese beetles are my major garden nemesis.
My late Daddy was s great gardener and his favorite slug deterrent was to make traps.
Soak lengths of wood, and prop on the bed in late evening, leave overnight then get up early and take the slug ridden wood to the chicken run for his girls to have s morning slug snack.
Soak wood in what?
We haven't seen the girls (chickens) in a while. Can you show them in an upcoming video? I like watching them :) I love your videos Becky, have been watching for years!!!
I’ve been watching for about 3 years since my mum was in palliative care, maybe a bit longer. Watching you living your best life, creating the goodies you want to create and providing for your family have gotten me through some really tough moments. So thank YOU for being you and for sharing your life xx
Give me a bouquet of flowers from the garden and my heart smiles every time I see them around my house.
suffer from too many pollen related allergies 🤧 to really enjoy cut flowers - but I do love blue cornflowers / bachelors buttons - when I was little (back in the 1960’s) they were in the garden right under my bedroom window so I always thought they were mine 😂🤣
@@ej3016 I love Lilacs but I am allergic to them.
Oh my, the colors on that bouquet are gorgeous!
The sounds of nature as you harvest is like an ASMR ….a nice sensory experience
Hello Acre family and friends! ❤
I started watching you Becky when you were getting ready to move to your current home… this year I have my first harvest of Basil and am growing lemon grass for tea, gladiolus, potato’s and passion fruit, now that I have my own home. Never would have dared if I hadn’t seen you do it. You make failure not feel like failure but a part of gardening. Thank you
Who else kept pointing to the mostly hidden scapes and urging Becky to find them?
😂
The really big straight one in front of the camera that was still there when she walked away! 😂
The really big one was wasn't ready to harvest yet. That is elephant garlic and takes longer to mature but I did miss some of the smaller scapes which I just picked last night :)
Me me!
I do the same thing. As I saw some missed I thought .. hmm no wonder I saw like 5 more when I watered today. Haha! We all need a “spotter” 😂
Becky - for your slug problem - Take some eggshells and grind them up in a spice grinder until they are pretty fine. Put it in a salt shaker and sprinkle just around the stem of the plants that get affected. It doesn’t take much. This proved very effective in my garden for slugs and earwigs. You don’t want to broadcast this everywhere because it can kill some beneficial beetles. I only had to do this once and it was amazing how well it worked.
Those bouquets can’t help but make you smile. 😃 they’re absolutely so so pretty Becky. I love the colors ❤so excited to watch these videos between the bees , cooking and baking plus the gardens , and not to forget cooking and shopping with mom. Well joy joy joy 🎉of all the blessings. Talent and kindness touches so many including me !oh and Happy Father’s Day to your father and Josh !there’s a rainbow swishing in the video as you’re watering. How enchanting is that!!
Happy Father’s Day Josh and Becky’s dad. There is nothing better than picking fresh flowers from your garden and bringing them in the house displaying them in a jar or vase ! Beautiful garden Becky!
My grandfather used hair clippings to keep slugs out, I was a hair dresser and i'd give him little bags of short hair clippings and he'd sprinkle them in the garden slugs can't move on them
You are so knowledgeable! I am 79yrs young and learn so much from you!
I love how excited you seem…based on your facial expression! Happy Father’s Day to Josh!
Your flowers make me so HAPPY! I know you are so proud of them! Also, I live in Georgia and when you said that you do not have humidity I asked my husband if we could move. OH my GOODNESS it's 99% humidity and almost 100 degrees EVERY SINGLE DAY June-mid September. And, I've lived her 44 years and NO, you do not get used to it. The Pacific NW sounds so nice!
This season is just whizzing by, I can’t believe you’re already able to harvest some. Thanks for sharing, Becky!
your flowers look beautiful looks like a picture out of a magazine
I’m so excited for all your harvesting adventures this year. Love you’re garden
Becky I don't have a freeze dryer I do dehydrate a lot of things. I really enjoy parsley cilantro green onions cut fresh from my garden and put in my freezer for the winter. Trust me that Frozen cilantro will make a nice salsa as well. I seen you put tarragon in your green stock. Tarragon is a perennial it'll grow huge like a bush you can find a place to put it where you want it to grow for the rest of its life it gets huge. ❤❤
Becky, You are so full of life and always have so much enthusiasm! Enjoyed the video!
Love watching you harvest your herbs and the flowers you grew. The bouquet is beautiful! I love having fresh flowers in the house!!
You should take a 5-gallon bucket with you to put the pruned leaves in from the tomatoes.
I have never trimmed my tomatoes LOL. I’m almost 72 been gardening over 60 years
Wow!
Becky, your garden is spectacular. A true labor of love and it shows.
That flower arrangement is so beautiful 😍
I'm really excited to see the harvest this year.
Thank you for all you do to keep us happy 😊
Good afternoon Becky and happy Father’s Day to Josh!
I am addicted to your channel! You are a natural teacher, and I admire you and all the work you put into your videos. Thanks so much for doing everything you do. ❤❤❤❤
God grows beautiful flowers, doesn’t He? He created the most beautiful nature for us.😊
No, she did that
OMG OMG OMG..it's a new season and your garden beds are sooooo beautiful and so are you and so early in the morning...tee hee....being bed bound is hard, I want to do this so badly but cannot, so watching you is a JOY OF MASSIVE PROPORTIONS that you just don't know you do for me!!!! Thank you sooo much!!!!❤
I watch many of your videos with my 5-year old daughter. She loves learning about cooking, baking & gardening. She’s turning 6 next month and after seeing a video where you made a hummingbird cake, she’s requested it for her birthday dessert ♥️
My dad always had a garden(in Wisconsin and eastern NC) he never pruned tomatoes and never had a issue. He would have a couple of rows of them also.
I love how excited you got about your beautiful bouquet of flowers! It means so much for your hard work to pay off in beauty.
Happy Father’s Day Josh! ❤
The flowers are absolutely beautiful. I love gardening and harvesting fresh vegetables.
I never heard of garlic scapes either until I started watching your show. The colour after you cut them up was unbelievably beautiful.
In Louisiana if we planted that thickness of flowers around our tomatoes, everything would be moldy/mildew because our humidity is 70-90%. Somedays the air is so thick with moisture it gets hard to breathe. I have to water my plants in containers and beds twice daily most days. We are like 90+ weather already.
I live in the same area as Becky. When I first visited Louisiana in the summer, I described it as being wrapped in a wet blanket and breathing swamp water 🤣 Definitely took some getting used to. We get all our moisture in the fall, winter and spring before the heat sets in.
I am happy for your first harvest of Cilantro. I know how much you love the freeze dried herbs you got last year. I remember how quickly you went through it and promising yourself to grow more in 2024. Gorgeous ranniculus and snapdragons.
Those fresh flowers are just beautiful
I love how you love what you’re doing…it shows!🥰🙏🏻🥰🙏🏻
I keep a 6" fan from walmart in my kitchen for drying veg quickly. it was about $6 a few years ago, so probably a little more now. It's a cheap option for quickly dried veg(or preventing onion fumes from getting to your eyes)
It seems like only yesterday that you were actually planting these tomatoes and they looked so sad. And the snap dragons were barely out of the ground a week ago.😉
Gf, I wish I had your energy! I did 30 years ago! Your flowers look so pretty sitting on the counter. Happy Father's Day!
Thanks for sharing! Love your videos Becky! Happy Father’s Day Josh!
I’m living my garden dreams though you. Non stop rain and chilly temps here in the UK has slowed the growth of everything I have enormously! Be lucky to harvest anything this year!
What an amazing garden you have!🥬🥦🥒🍅🫑🥕
Woohoo!!!!! Love harvest time! 😍
Hi Becky!!!!!
Becky....
Yay...I am so excited to watch this...
Also...Happy Father's Day to Josh...😊
Shows how I much I know…I thought the status was a big ole weed! Thanks for the education! 😊 Happy Father’s Day, Josh!
Me too! I would have pulled them fir sure😅😅😅
I was told that if you sprinkle used coffee grounds in your garden, that will help with the slug problem. Same with ground egg shells.
I love watching everything you do. I’m a very Sr lady so don’t plant a garden anymore but enjoy every moment with you. I sure wish I loved cilantro like you. It tastes nasty to me and I know that others have that unfortunate issue. 😫😫
You bring me such joy...i just rewatch your videos til the next one comes out.
You should use some food grade Diatomaceous earth on all your beds. Put a nice long line barrier on the outside(but on the inside) of each bed, and then you can sprinkle it all over the plants that are getting eaten by bugs. You will have to reapply after each rain. It really helps and goes along way economically.
I love using fresh herbs to do “grill packs” for the freezer. I’ll do a cilantro lime marinade home made. Put in ziplock with chicken thighs. Great freezer meal in summer. Take out to fridge night before. Day of, put some sweet potatoes in the crockpot for the afternoon. Grill chicken, veggies from garden. Super fast dinner. Look up marinades to use your herbs. I always do about 20 pounds of chicken grill packs every summer.
I always love the garden and preservation videos ❤ I think it would be awesome if added the date the videos were recorded as reference
I used your garlic method late winter. I bought a huge bag of peeled garlic from our local restaurant supply. I use those pucks all the time. Thank you for teaching me this method!
Happy Father's Day, Josh!
Inspired by you from an older video, I harvested, pureed, and made garlic scape pucks yesterday. And today it's in your video. Thank you, Becky!
If you have any more to harvest try making pesto with them. It's so good.
The ranunculis are beautiful!!
Holy Moly! That's crazy how quickly your garlic plants matured.
I'm so amazed at your energy and ambitious nature! Wish Josh a happy Father's day!!
Great Harvest Becky! You are so talented!
❤Heya. I'm late in watching because I just preserved some garlic scapes by dehydration to make Green Garlic Salt for the pantry and gifts. One day I will grow it, but now... I get it from the local farmers in the area... I did leave some out to put into the Greek Salad dinner we're having later... I also harvested from my garden the Nasturtium leaves and stems. I dry these and put them in my specialty seasoning blend. Such a great double use as I have the flowers for the hummingbirds.
Hugs from Esquimalt
Your cilantro...girl!! Beautiful harvest! Cilantro is rather tricky to grow where I live; (southern Georgia). I tend to have more luck with spring plants in our long fall. It just heats up way too fast here!❤
Oh my goodness, Becky!!! Those flowers are so beautiful!! Your patience paid off!! And the garlic scapes looked so green and beautiful and the Cilantro! WOW! I think you’ve dialed in that soil fast!! Good work. I feel much better about gardening this year again now that my back is somewhat “normal”. I was blessed in watching your channel while Disability of my spine was at a real major issue. You are one of my favorite channels. The enthusiasm and now your experience has been such a wonderful resource to have kept me on the positive. There were some dark days there but now I’ve got 20 raised beds. Next year will be a whole better. Because building plus growing this year was tough to do at once. I have had a family if groundhogs! lol along with our usual deer pressure. So we did a temp fence and these enclosures with a zippered screen to keep out any “intruders”. And then the slugs came. I used sluggo for first time. And I think I will get there tmrw and also direct sow some more. My soil isn’t providing as much as yours to my seedlings. I’ve been amending and using organic water soluble fertilizer because the initial didn’t apply enough apparently. So on my down time now from gardening I’m watching and resting for more the next day! Thank you so much!!! For being YOU!
I too found Becky when I was forced to stoo working due to Meltiple Sclerosis. She gave me interest. Now I help my friends with their garden with advice. I say "well my friend Becky says...." I live her too❤❤❤
Love your snapdragons
Those flowers are stunning!
Your video captures the joy and satisfaction of a successful harvest and the excitement of preserving the bounty. It's inspiring to see your dedication and passion for gardening come to life in such a vibrant way!
You have inspired me to be more serious about my garden this year. I am almost 75 yrs. old. Please tell me source me the source of your never ending energy. I am more than jealous. You are like the Ever-Ready Energy BUNNY.
Youth!😂
Such a beautiful bouquet. Happy Father's Day Josh and Becky's Dad.
I freeze cilantro and use them when cooking dinner. Works great freezing them.
I wrap the full length of the scapes up and place them in a mason jar and pickle them. We love the flavor and the length is fun on a plate at Thanksgiving or with burgers in the summer.
I use my salad spinner to wash as well as dry: I put my greens in the double basket & fill it all the way up with cold tap water. Then I spin it 20 times or so and remover the inner basket and pour out the water left behind. Then I do this a 2nd time (if you see sand or bugs in the water, you can do it 3 or more times.) Then I put the inner basket back in and spin it to dry it as much as possible. Works great!
Beautiful flowers ,slugs are bad here also and snails .Love watching you garden and preserving.
What the heck 😮 you have everything 😅 I'm so jealous 😊 A freeze dryer, bees & goodness knows what else 🎉🏡🥦🧄🍅
Happy Father’s Day Josh and Becky’s dad. Hope ur day was filled will lots of love.
Oh my goodness your flowers are all so beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Omg I can only imagine how good it smells with those garlic scapes
Absolutely stunning flowers this season. Love all the pinks and oranges.
Happy Father’s Day to Mr. Josh….❤
As a short person, I love how many low cupboards you have! As I watched you in your kitchen, I realized even though I did some reorganization of mine, I still need to do more!
You are the only one that can’t believe how beautiful your flowers are. I’ve never seen monoculus that big.❤❤❤🦋🙏🏻
Oh my stars… those Ranunculus are gorgeous❤
The orange flower is stunning
I am so glad I am not the only one who doesn't trim the suckers completely off their tomatoes 😂
