Nice job getting the saw out. My Stihl/wedges rescued my Husky in a similar situation last week. I have to tell you man, I go to the gym regularly, lift some heavy weight on bench/back/legs, but I have about a decade on you and those big pieces are going to catch up to you. One unintentional move and your back is toast. To me, it's worth the extra bit of fuel and time to noodle them in half, plus it leaves the mess in the woods. Thanks for another awesome video!
Impossible, huskys don't get stuck😅😂
Listen to this man... he speaks truth. Gas and chains are cheaper than doctor bills. I can vouch for this.
Nothing better than buckin off a suspended tree! Perfect height, and no dirt to hit!
Hello Mr. Schieb, I am sorry but I laughed when you got stuck and was telling you not to do that, but you did it anyways, but brute strength and determination got you out of it. Good Work.
Anyone that doesn't get pinched once in a while, doesn't cut much wood. Good looking firewood for sure!
Hey Guy....Have a tip for ya when loading big rounds in your truck. What i do is take one of the rounds and lay it fat about 2-3" from your tailgate on the ground and roll those rounds to it and use it like a step up. You now will be lifting 16" and then another 16" into the bed instead of 30+ " all at once....This should save your back and the Boys!!!
Good thing your truck doesn’t have a lift!!😂😂 Your getting some super nice wood from the roadside!!👍🤘🍻
Thanks 👍
Beautiful red oak!! We've all been stuck before, this is why I always try to pack 2 saws and some wedges!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
LOL! I was reaching for my Advil just watching you lift those rounds Scheib - geez, you must eat a lot of Spinach Popeye! :)) I had to smile watching those first few bucks - same thing happens to me a lot - I can't judge the compression very well and it takes a few cuts to finally get it to release ( after I pinch my saw a few times...) Beautiful wood though- worth the effort for sure. Have a great weekend!
Thanks GP
12 cold beers and a hot tub and you will be as good as new. Nice haul brother woo.
You are still the man in firewood Scheib , know one works harder than you do on CZcams yup, your the man in firewood channels great, job greay video. Hard work pays and we both know it.
Good stuff, my back hurts just watching though! Stay safe
Thanks, you too!
hi there nice find , and sawing after a hiccup at the start .that saw likes to make chips .do you miss that long bed truck ?well you can and did a good job picking those big rounds . you will pay for it later in life i know . it is easy to say or write but if you plan to continue the road side logging may want to look into some kind of lifting device that will slip into your 2 " receiver . and like i said its easy to be a back seat coach . i found a aluminum hand truck with a hydraulic lift cylinder , 150 bucks . one of the best i ever got ,just putting things out there .bottom line just be safe we all like your shows . john
My back went out watching you loading and unloading those 180-200 pound rounds.
Can't beat that roadside logging, a lot of nice firewood there
Your Miller lite was missing at the end buddy.you sure deserved a few cold ones after that workout. 🍺 🍻
Good morning every body. When it comes to. Getting those big ones in a truck I use a ten foot section of roller conveyor and push the pieces up it’s a lot less effort. If you can find one give it a try. Obviously you have to lug it around but it’s well worth it when you’re by yourself.
Red oak is the best. Nice work getting your bar unstuck. I’ve been there! Ha
Couple/Three nice loads of "ditch wood" there. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
Definitely some nice loads wood. Lots of wood in them big pieces. I got ramp trailer I try and use when go get big rounds. My backs not as good as yours. Keep up the good work.
I would have brought my son who was on the woodsman team at University of NH. He would split those Red Oaks in half, before loading.
Yes go with the flow❤
Another sweet score roadside logging! The 500 was ripping, take care brother.
Thanks 👍
You might consider a small landscape trailer . You could roll those big ones right up the tailgate . That is if you can get a trailer in the woods .
My god that’s a lot of wood from that tree. Some pinch’s you just can’t see coming. That one….. well. 😆 As fast as that 500 is I think you’d be time ahead taking that top off first and getting rid of that pressure. Mind you this advice is coming from someone who pinch’s his bar at least once, 87.5% of the time that he’s out cutting!😆 Cheers!🍺🍺
You got that right!
Hey Scheib ! Catfish here ! Great job on the downed trees ! I enjoy watching you go down the line 16” at a clip . Nice video !
Premium Firewood , Good Job !
Nice job Scheib !
hi man love the roadside logging videos subscriber from australia here 🤟
you are one strong man I cut oak and for me those are 2 man rounds to load 👍👍👍👍
I could watch these roadside scrounge videos all day long…. But then I’d have to get a scrounge myself 😂
You are one of my favorite channels right now scheib I'm looking into firewood just for fun I will show you how you roadside log in the city soon 😎
Sounds great!
Tip : Don cut your 75 percent all way down log before doing the cut through this releases so much pressure with each cut that when do cut through nearly none there. Bill
Once the saw was out that was a dream log, held off the floor and great quality wood. Chris TheRuralProject
Yes it was!
Impressive lifting
That top looks worth coming back for, as well. Looks to be plenty of usable wood in it. Even if it's just for your and Sam's stoves, and/or firepits. That's just me- I hate leaving good wood to just rot. That, and the limbwood and crotchy stuff is the densest wood!
I was salvaging a blown down top from a several years standing dead Ash. All bark was gone, and the wood was seasoned rock hard- it was like sawing iron bars... Made DAMN good firewood, though. Trunk turned out to be completely solid, too- and dry enough that it gave my saw fits. The chain was smokin! Just the very base was starting to go- which is why I was able to get it.
That's one hell of a honey hole you got there!
With rounds that big you can have a chord in no time but man oh man hard on the ol back. Nice saw by the way.
“It’s long and gets pretty large here at the bottom”!……whatever you say scheib!😂
Lol
Looks like most of the bark stayed in the bush , nice looking wood , good job !🍻🍻
Nice load!!
Another nice haul from the roadside brother! 🤘💪
Thanks 👍
Man that saw cuts like a hot knife through butter! Beautiful tree.
Could feel my back blowout
500i with a 25” bar 👍
If you don't get a saw pinched every once in a while, you're not out there cutting. A couple years ago I had all 3 of my saws pinched in the same log at the same time. I was a big blow down oak, suspended up in the air just like this one. It had stress going in every direction, you couldn't predict how it was going to change with each cut. I had to hook up to it with the tractor and pull it over to get the saws out. I pulled the powerheads off of the bars, and then pulled it over. I'll tell ya, some new curse words were invented that day.
That's alot of work you did some big rounds take care of that core brother
Great job on cutting and loading
Love that roadside logging. Good job, as some of those were monster rounds. stay safe.😅😮😅😮😊
I love watching your roadside videos to see what situations you are going to run into. Please take care of your back with all that heavy lifting. Maybe you need a shirt that says "some noodling required"😄. Be safe! obie
Thank you, I will
Another big day!! Saw is working great.
Nice load of free red oak!
Nice score Scheib. I have a saw grab bag I take with me that has a couple of tools, a hammer, wedges, marking stick, and chains in it I take this with me every time I head into the woods. It’s saved my bacon a few times.
Very nice!
Nice haul Scheib. The 500 was making some nice clouds of man glitter.🔥🪵🍻🇺🇸
Schibe your a mad man throwing those rounds around 💪🏽🇺🇸🤘🏽 🥃
Just a sweet video Lettin the ol’ 500i eat on some good straight wood! I like it 🤘🏻
That first cut seems to always get me too on blowdown’s. You never know what it’s going to do and which way it’s going to roll
Scheib, your going to busy a nut on those big rounds ! You need that tractor & grapple to make that roadside logging a little easier . That Chevy was raising a little on each round you threw off lol . Good job working with what you had though .
That's the plan!
Some big rounds there Scheib. Worth the effort!
a tip on cutting that first round so it doesn't fall and wedge itself and trap the saw is cut it slightly angled away from the part of the tree that is remaining . then when it falls down it gets shorter so you can remove the saw . keep up the the good work but don't overdo it . once you wreck your back it will bother you for a long time . i used to keep a sledge and wedge in the truck to bust the big ones in half .
Nice work Scheib 👏 Great looking red oak score you got there. 500i cutting good.
You Da man! WOOOH
Nice loads . Have a great day
Enjoyed
Thank you
The next time you go back to the roadside, will you try and cut some of the wood from those two branches above the crotch piece? It seems you still could get some decent sized rounds. They definitely would be easier to load/unload from the truck. Have a great day!
Awesome video Scheib! You need to build a log lift of some kind for the back of your truck lol. Maybe something that hooks into your reciever hitch and extends out past your tailgate when its down, with an electric winch. I seen some whitetail deer hangers /loaders i think would probably work with a set of tongs instead of a single tree. May be a little slower but would sure save your back lol. Take Care Scheib !!!
Cool idea
I could see a lift gate coming in very handy here. At this point in my life I am trying very hard not to do any further damage to my back and not to get a hernia either.
I say you work away while your able, you've great strength and I wouldn't give up on that. Great video Scheib..
Nice going
Your smart to throw some dunnage under log so its off ground, your chain w/thank you. Looks like you are due for about a 32" light stihl bar. You take an Xtra bar w/you you can rescue your saw if you pinch it & get it stuck. A Bark spud would be handy for knocking rotten bark off your firewood rounds, no need to take that stuff home. You have a nice place to cut wood, hope it last for you. Good Watch
Nice work 👍. Like the voice over 👍
Awesome
If you make an Amazon Associates page, you can list items and if people buy them you get a cut. You can list your chainsaw stuff that you like and list your page in your description.I see other people do it....Just letting you know...thanks for the videos
Nice loads of oak you're getting there for free free wood is the best wood
Leaving those big ones at the road, they have a built-in theft deterrent...gravity.
Hard job
Free wood but it takes a lot of hard work to make it into firewood.
Scheib cutting with a cig in his mouth 🚬 🤘
Screw going to the gym. Start your own roadside oak harvest or go on a few runs with this guy...lol
if you encounter such a tree again, make a v cut under where it forks halfway through the trunk, then cut from above and the entire forked piece will fall right in of saves a lot of misery with jamming saw blades
OMG!!
WARNING: Smoking reduces blood flow to the limbs, which can
require amputation.
Your truck is already 30 - 40 feet away... Why not just back it up right up to the rounds and save yourself a whole lot of backstrain?
I don't mid to work at least a little bit.
Nice ! Was this mostly for bag / campfire wood or house burning?
For the roadside stand
@@OutsidewithScheib Nice. We’re in Ontario. People see punky edge up here ; only place is a fire pit outside.
Nice score...scary tho 👍🏽
Keep lifting wood like that and you're gonna have back problems like me get yourself a little BX 2200 tractor for that kind of work they are perfect for roadside work Plus they save your back
👍
I can't find good wood like that all I find is Pine
Don't you wish there were time when that fast forward was in real life........lol
Nope , enjoy everyday soon you’ll be 80 and wishing you could go back
Hey scheib do you use the 2 in 1 sharpner? I found I wasnt grinding enough off the rakers on one side more than the other so I file and Do the rakers with the gauge instead, it's a stihl kit so it's all good. Excellent work dude!
Yes I do!
Do you ask the land owner if you can have the wood or do you just drive around see wood down and just cut it up and take it
I have permission from the owner
Just wondering in Maine the state ownes 10 feet off the road tree service chips the brush and leaves the wood first comes can have it
Wow! You must be very strong. I would have rolled them up ramps or set one down as a table to flip the others up on.
Don't risk hurting your back, cut the big rounds in 1/2 = two 16" half
Hey bud are you cutting with full chiesal chain or slandered stihl chain, nice score on all the oak
I believe it’s full
Hello sir, I am just wondering what you run for a air filter system on your 500i just the stock one?
Yep just the stock filter
question: do you always go without gloves? Just curious.
Most times
Si sabes dónde está el árbol caido , porque no te llevas el remolque y evitas hacer varios viajes ?
Simplemente es más fácil entrar y salir sin el remolque. Son solo 15 minutos para la casa.
@@OutsidewithScheib te entiendo
Question Scheib, do you have any oiling problems with that 500I ? I have a brand new 462, and it seems to me there's not enough oil? I have it turned all the way up????
If you stood on the other side of the tree, the saw would’ve cut faster 😂
How often do you have to sharpen your chain ripping through one of these oaks?
I touch up the chain after every tank or as needed
1 or 2 strokes
Could You not get Your Trailer in there ?? Set of Ramps=No lifting .
Thanks Scheib.
Mike M.
do you get your wood on state land.
No private land
@@OutsidewithScheib thank you
Where are you from Donald? Seems like you have unlimited free wood, lmk
Y do your viewers care more about your back than you. U proved that you take an axe along, use it to bust those monsters in 1/2. Straight red oak should only take 3-4 swings
are you afraid of undercuts or something lol
I don’t think so lol
