Patton is a god.🤘🤘 I think on this album, he was trying to give us Chuck Mosely via Patton. Angel Dust and beyond he opens up his range. he still sneers and is super sarcastic sometimes, but his register is much deeper. he's also an amazing lyricist. the song Epic revolves around the word "it". just ridiculous stuff. glad you also hear the brilliance of Billy Gould on the bass.
these guyz are absolutely in my top 5 for life.🤘🤘

This is one of my top 5 FNM songs. I always loved the intro with the bass and the shimmering piano fading in. Makes me feel like im inside a snowglobe. Catchy, light, and proof that this weird band could really party if they wanted.
The song was iconically used in Black Hawk Down. And when i first started listening to them i preferred the nasal style of Patton to their later years (i like it all equally now) so my next rexommendations would be Everythings Ruined or A Small Victory after this.

If you pay attention, this is playing during the move out scene in Black Hawk Down (not long enough to feature lyrics, but the beat & keyboard are undeniable)

Saw them in a little club called the Lost Horizon in Syracuse, NY, right after this album came out. Was a great show. I never thought his voice was "out of place" in this song (I understand it was "nasally"). If anything it's unique. Maybe it's just a different sound than you are used to. 😁🤘 Try "We Care Alot" with their previous lead singer. It's another "fun" song.

@@cuttyr74 I'm from Watertown. The 1st show I saw there was Suicidal Tendencies in the fall of '88. I was 17 and at my first real "rock" show (had seen Bob Dylan at the NYS Fair in '86 but that doesn't count) and my mind was blown. I was able to sit backstage on the Suicidal gear (stage left) near the side door (about 10 ft away from Rocky George). Two bouncers grabbed a guy by the legs and arms and swung him out that side door and down the stairs headfirst. It was a crazy night and everyone at that show got to see them up close and personal. It was awesome. Funny thing, on their next album ("Lights, Camera, Revolution") I saw them opening for Queensryche playing in 10,000 seat arenas.

A similar band that needs some love is Mordred, who blended thrash, funk and hip-hop. "Falling Away" and "Esse Quam Videri" from "In This Life" (1991) are both splendid songs in the vein of Faith No More. ;)

Mike Patton has a 6 octave range...that is a very small and elite group. That is to say, Patton can be included when talking about some of the most talented singers in the world of any genre.

Jim Martin’s guitar tone and playing is just killer. There’s like a sheen, layer to his playing that has a certain heaviness but it’s not overbearing. The tone sounds like it’s on the edge of control and feedback trying to breakthrough. It’s just solid as can be
