Could never figure out why truck manufacturers or cars, do away with something that looks good, how stupid can they be. I'll stick with my 2019 389 with all the bells and whistles, and with a dashboard full of gauges, and not a TV screen looking like garbage on the newer models.
Curved glass is a disaster in winter. Wippers freeze up and don’t match the curve. Have to stop and smash the ice off then it only lasts a short while and you can’t see shit again.
It's crazy I'm so on the fence on this 589 of wanting a newer rig but then I jump in my 389 and think to myself there's nothing else like this. On the hunt for a nice newer 389 I go 😂
I feel like those breathers would be susceptible to ingesting water intrusion during high water levels similar to storm surge for us here in the south where hurricanes are more frequent.
Someone tell me if I'm wrong but that hood is shorter than a 359 379 and 389, surely haven't heard them mention anything about extended hood, notice how he works his way around it, can't put light bars on it because there's no room because I don't think that it's extended hood but I could be wrong.
Nice to see its got the Paccar engine. Never going back to the Cummins after 500,000 miles on my present Paccar great reliability and very good fuel economy. Great looking truck.
Atleast paccar tried to create a new long hood truck with the w990 although I’m not fan of it either it was a better try I guess I’m just to set in my old school ways being a cabover owner lol trucks these days look more like ufo’s than trucks
I was never an owner-operator but I was privileged to drive a few cab overs in the 70’s and 80’s and I agree they were trucks. All metal inside and out and the best thing to be driving if delivering in the North East U S. But I do have a soft spot for a V-8 powered Bulldog

My mx13 in a 27 month period. Was an absolute nightmare. Over 62k in warrantee work in that period. Never Never Never Never Again. Will i ever own another paccar engine. Its a brand new truck now, after all the work. But it stays parked now full time. I cant trust it enuf to pull an empty van 100 miles. If your a new o.o stay as far away from these emissions nightmares as possible.
Yep, just about the end of any vehicle as we know them, cars included. You truck guys are still lucky to have manual shift gearboxes and inline 6 diesels. But those are about to go too... Good luck!
From another channel, the sales guy was saying the X15 engine will fit in the same space. But all the 589's will have the Paccar engine as standard unless you specify the X15.

So Mike , answer a question for me if you can. Since the 589 is sharing the same cab as the 567 would it be possible to order s 567 with the twin air cleaners on the outside since it’s the same width. Or isn’t the cowl the same Just askin….
Same cab as the W 990 I drive. Same cab as the internationals. In Australia, those air, cleaners fell off, cleaners fell off. I hope they fixed that issue. Kenworth, Peterbilt, and International share the same cab
@mikethetrucknut you would be amazed at what they are changing on these trucks and how they are camouflaging the parts. Like the airbreather it's just a cover on some of the trucks
@tracymiller1881 there was talk about no longer having any long hood trucks anymore and this is what they came up with so I think it was a great compromise.
I don’t know if it’s true but I was told that you can still get a glider kit set up for your own engine but not for the retail market. So maybe that would be something to enquirer about with a savvy salesman
The real shocking discovery is that silly little paccar motor in that thing!!! You have already ruined the peterbilt style you could of at least put a cumappart in it?????

At work i got forbidden/prohibited to drive any Paccar related stuff because the moment i drove stuff like that it would break down. (i gues they dont like to be driven like a 2 stroke Jimmy (and i found a way to make them things overrev to 3200rpm)
I heard they used previous parts from 389s. To biild those new trucks. So they wouldn't have to store them in there warehouse or build site. I love those trucks. But you will be lucky to get 6 mpg. And whats the asking price on that truck in this video

That cab wasn't designed for external air cleaners, Peterbilt designers had their work cut out for them.
But they got the look right! They did a better job than KW with their W990.

Man, they sure messed the windshield up on these trucks. Nothing like the split windshield, they just look better

W990 has both functional stacks,, that jst the way sumone order it
990 is a glorified 680. At least peterbilt kept the overall traditional look
Jst mount the front air cleaners lite bars in the center vertically that way U dnt have 2 worry about the edge of hood hitting them

Not at the moment, there will be clearance issues with the fenders and the air cleaner. If they come out with a shorter version then maybe.
