Many times the obvious simple things get taken for granted.
Thanks for the reminder.👌
Great video as ever Geoff ,I wonder if the coffee machine owners carry spares in the event of a catastrophic bean grinding failure 😂
Thanks for the video Geoff. After many many years of remote area travel, and having to continuously refine and reduce the spares that I carry for the practicalities of space and weight, the humble U bolt is one that I would NEVER go bush without!
Easily overlooked, quite vulnerable given its location, it is probably not at the top of list of spares for most leaf sprung 4wds...
But it should be...
Worth keeping in mind there are a lot of sub par aftermarket ubolts around for series land rovers. I replaced mine recently and the u bolt threads stripped out before the appropriate torque was reached on 3 of 4 ubolts...
Exactly same issue! The imperial threads are just way too weak for the torque. I swapped all over to metric ones, which are a bit beefier and can handle the torque
Really useful. Many thanks mate. Best wishes from New Zealand
Hey Geoff, thanks for the reminder ! Absolutely hate the weak aftermarket ones especially the imperial ones! Good point with the mild steel, I was desperate to get hardened ones after I stripped 6 u bolts! Good I didn’t. Now after 4 month of traveling from Greece to Georgia the front one are shot.
Now I guess everyone noticed the non stock u bolts on your front axle!!!! What are they and where can you get them and most importantly do they handle the stresses better?
Thanks, Simon
I'll def put that on my service schedule. Cheers
Como logras tener tan buenoa frenos ??
Another useful video Geoff, a couple of different sized u bolts(and nuts) are not a great weight impost and can save a lot of angst. Cheers steve
