Amidst rumors & hot discussion long after Colors Ultimate, Sonic Generations is getting a remaster in the form of Sonic X Shadow Generations with a new campaign for Shadow being packaged with a rerelease of Generations. The campaign, the look of the remaster and new side story, the content, the potential surrounding any type of Sonic Generations rerelease: there's a lot of thoughts coming out of this reveal cruising in my brain.

This version of Generations kind of looks like an improvement to the original so far, I mean, it looks exactly the same, and they even teased improvements and new content.
Well since is from directly from sonic team when colours ultimate from binding squirrel.

I disagree with SuperMarioT for them changing the gameplay style. I don’t think that will be an improvement. I don’t want them to change Classic Sonic in Generations because of his spin-dash that was so broken yet so fun to use. City Escape Act 1 is my favorite Classic Sonic stage because of the thrills of using the spin-dash and avoiding the GUN truck. The multiplayer is a good idea though, but what about Classic Sonic? What’s his 2nd player counterpart going to be? I guess they could make a Classic Shadow just for fan-service.
@@supersaiyanfox9190 Okay but people really do just prefer the ACTUAL classic sonic, the broken spin dash is just the equivalent of having fun with having cheats enabled, It wouldn’t be a downgrade at all. Would be nice for a true classic sonic. And like I said, if you like the broken spin dash, go play with cheats some more or something. Because the broken spin dash was never the point of “intentional” fun in the first place.
The only thing I'm worried about is if Sega will pull a Sega and delist the original Generations on Steam. The modding community is insane for that game and it'll be devastating to see it broken.
Other than that, I'm shockingly optimistic about this. It already looks better than Colors Ultimate did pre-release, and they're showing it off a lot sooner than either SCU or Origins were. It looks pretty much the same as OG Generations, which was already an awesome game. Plus, the Shadow content looks insane, and Ian Flynn's back to write it. I haven't had this positive of an outlook on a Sonic game in a long time. Hopefully Sega doesn't prove me wrong on that, though...
Thankfully since Gens, Lost World, Forces, and Frontiers use almost identical frameworks when it comes to modding, we should be sitting pretty. Might be a bit of work to get the old mods to work on the new stuff but I'm not too worried about it.
Well on steam it’s a superset game but I do get ya like origins all classic Sonic games went away hopefully they don’t delist let’s say if they do they better give workshop/modding support for this version
The game has been out for 13 years and has been easily accessible since. That wouldn't be anywhere near as bad as what they did with origins
@@ddddavyy8383 Especially when Origins was not the original games exactly but rather the original maps with Mania like physics injected while the emulated versions on Steam were literal emulated roms.

Generations is one of the last Sonic games that deserved a remaster. It definitely feels like they wanted to make a new Shadow game to hype people up for the movie but didn't have the time and instead just attached what they had to something that worked before. Even knowing all of this and being someone who hates Shadow the Hedgehog (the game, not the character), I'm still really excited. I'm also glad it's coming to Switch because Generations on the go sounds perfect for me.
Honestly i played every Sonic on game cube every sonic onn wii , gba , DS but i quitted wen the boost formula became the norm i dont like the boost i dont like that my games play themselves the only boost Sonic i liked was the 3 Rush on DS and still hope for a Rush trilogy port on switch or next sistem
I would assume that this was a very calculated move on Sega's part.
Generations is like a sneak peak into the best of the franchise and everyone want to play Shadow after movie 3 drops.
So people will buy the game for Shadow, than play generations and than want to play all the games generations has in it leading to more sales on colors ultimate, origins and maybe even sadx and sa2b.
My hope is that SEGA will stop making Shadow the "I hate everyone and just want to fight a worthy opponent" personality, because that wasn't what he was in SA2, Heroes and ESPECIALLY 06! He was cold, but he did have a heart. I'm sick and tired of SEGA of Japan just ignoring that and make him the standard Shonen **** rival trope!
Hey I loved Shadow the Hedgehog back in the day and even played through it again recently. The only thing I didn't like about the game is just that none of the stories in it are canon, otherwise I think a lot of the criticism of the game is equally true about the rest of the series, just people people more blind themselves of it likely from nostalgia.
I think the game would have been more compelling if the ending more showed it was people either messing with his mind or perhaps the Black Arms manipulating his mind. It could have made the conflicting story fit together even with Shadow pointing out how things look familiar or experiencing his flashbacks.
i've had generations on the go ever since i got my steam deck. my only hope is that i get a discount on the new version for already owning the game on steam
If we're talking involving 06 content and events that haunt Shadow's memories, we'll probably get the desert level Generations was missing with Dusty Desert, ending in a boss fight against Mephiles returning. In which we'll hopefully get to control Shadow with his rings off this time!

Wouldn't Mephiles still be sealed away, so he wouldn't have gotten the chance to meet Shadow in this timeline?
@@haruhitomaeda4802 Excellent point, but, if this is connected to Generations, and Crisis City exists in it, there's a good chance Shadow can encounter him regardless. And even then, Mephiles was the incarnate of the shadow of Solaris, given it's intelligence and power over time, so blowing out the candle may have only destroyed Iblis, while leaving Mephiles to grow on his own. And even then, there's still the Iblis that left the universe with Blaze that's theoretically sealed in the Royal Scepter in the other world...
Maybe Silver could get a renaissance like this in a few years
Perhaps 2026, Sonic movie 4 and 06's 20th. I think same year when Silver debuted
Sega could literally just hire ChaosX to port P-06 back to consoles and tweak the story a bit. (we all know why) and I’d be fine with it. My laptop can’t even run P-06 at 60fps on min graphics so I’d pick that up.

There is no real “wasted potential” with Generations’ story. I’m okay with the idea that Time Eater is just this mysterious space entity. Not every Sonic game needs a deep story, especially when it’s purposefully a celebratory game like Generations is.
As much as a better story would benefit Gens, I don't mean all I say regarding Gens' weaker plot it in the sense it makes the game worse if by much. It being a pretty straightforward story in the simplest sense gives it a lot less room to screw things up and making less problematic and easy for anyone to follow. It's safer and it loses some investment w/ some who want deeper Sonic stories, but I get it's not that huge of a mark against Gens when it's not on their radar to begin with for what Gens was going with.
@@SuperMarioT I just personally feel that the more people understand where the Sonic brand was going at the time to be more contemporary again, the more easier it is to accept the simplicity and lightheartedness of Generations. Same with Colors and Lost World.
Wasted potential is one thing, Gens was just a plain waste of time.

I’ll be real, I kinda like what Sega’s going for. Super Mario 3D World and Kirby’s Return to Dreamland both got ported/remade respectively onto the switch, on top of new side game content that has a lot of meat into them. So I can’t wait to see what Sonic x Shadow Generations will have in store, and picks up after how Sonic Colors Ultimate fumbled in the presentation area.
Also, for anyone unaware, please don’t search up Sonic x shadow generations. It probably won’t end well for your psyche.

They better not skimp on that new content though... 3D World only _barely_ was worth $30 to me, and that's with the added pressure to remove Wii U games off of that system (needed the Storage Drive for PS4)...
It’s no big deal really. I think the “x” mean “and”. Like how the upcoming MonsterVerse installment is called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The “x” signifying that Godzilla and Kong are working together. In this case, it’s Sonic and Shadow’s game.

3D World included a whole new extra game ontop of numerous gameplay changes and ONLINE play.
I miss it when SEGA used Sonic Channel art for the basis of their game's boxarts. The last Sonic game they used it on was Sonic Rush Adventure and the art still holds up nicely in the year 2024. And the most surprising part is that Sonic Channel still makes Sonic art to this day, but only relegate it to social media posts and calenders. Kinda wasted potential in my opinion. I think they're much better than using the 3D models they've been using for the past 17 years since.
It feel so strange that they finally care about Modern Sonic characters again, I know it's mainly due to Sonic movie 3 but I'm all for it. I'm surprised they brought back Black Doom and I wonder if Mephiles will have a boss fight, I hope it isn't some short story mode either.
The biggest question I have is will they have levels from Generations 3DS, it's extremely ignored.
I'd love for remastered levels from Lost World, Mania and Forces but Sega's not going to go the extra mile for that. I remember wanting DLC levels for the original Generations and they never did that.
If Mephiles does have a boss fight, they should also let Sonic fight him.

honestly, having played Generations 3DS, I wouldn't want those levels being brought back, if they did the level themes in Generations proper style, that would be good stuff, but neutered sonic rush is a no thanks from me.
23:45. You know, its a litle odd seeing Classic Sonic slander in the fanbase nowadays. Because looking back, he didn't really "invade" mainline games as much as we think. He was forced into ONE modern game and now fans are sick of him like with the Zeti and Wisps, who were put into way more games than him.
Mania and Superstars honestly don't count since they fufill what the fans wanted: For Classic to stay in his own games.

Well Forces was supposed to be the biggest Sonic game to date and forcing Classic to the story left a bitter taste to the fanbase so you can't blame them for their slander
I think people are more upset with the concept of classic sonic. With him being the staple for 2-D platforming in the franchise, it hinders innovation and creativity because SONIC TEAM is so insisted on keeping “Classic” as vanilla as possible

I would say that in a post-movie, post Sonic Prime world, a Generations remaster makes total sense. More people are familiar with Sonic than ever when the original release of Generations happened.

The thing for me is that this looks great and it's cool that more people can play this game. But, to me, it feels kinda "safe", since Generations and Shadow are so beloved. I dunno, I think when we learn more about how Shadow's campaign will be as well as anything else they're going to add, I can say I'm truly on board with this. Staying optimistic though.

If you've never played Shadow the Hedgehog, I suggest adding the Shadow Reloaded mod and giving it a try.
It's not for everyone but I have a lot of fun with it and the branching story paths.
A lot of People don't get the point. While it does feel cheap that they’re making a generations remake, it’s important to also take into account that a new generation of sonic fans are rising. As of right now, there is no definitive way to “catch up” with sonic content especially with new fans. Also, pairing up shadow the hedgehog content with generations is a smart move especially since movie 3 is coming out. Yes I was hoping shadow would have a stand-alone game, I was hoping for a complete different game, but I feel like this was made for people to have a definitive way to get into sonic, and also let's be honest, as much as I want a shadow game, It would probably underperform. If I was a new fan, I wouldn’t know where to start, but thanks to this remaster/shadow sequel hybrid, it would be easier to start here as a new fan since it's a game with Classic sonic, Modern sonic, and now shadow.
I'm actually really excited. I remember playing some of Gens way back in the day at a friends house so now I'll have 2 childhood favourites from 2011 in my possession (the other being Return to Dreamland DX). What's even better is that I won't need to worry about how it'll run on my Switch since I got a PS4 recently. I'm kinda glad they aren't doing anything with the visuals since after Colors Ultimate I'd rather not see how they would "tune up" the visuals. Black Doom's Fury (which is what I will call Shadow's campaign for the rest of time) looks really cool so far but I'll hold off on any strong positive or negative judgements till later. As for the story, at least for Shadow I don't know. I'm part of the like 5% of Sonic fans who thinks Ian's writing isn't necessarily bad but does have less than stellar moments but I hope for the best.

This is an extremely optimistic take. I really dont expect there to be more than 3 levels and a boss for shadow. I kinda think the lack of showing a ton of things is because the shadow campaign wont be very long. However, it does look like a next gen sonic experience and extremely polished. I also think the two player races from sa2 will return if sega has any sense (they may not, but im still hopeful!)

Do you have any evidence as to how much content theyre really adding? Dont get me wrong, i would go bonkers if they added a ton of new content, and it looks like the content that we will get is going to be fantastic. But im expecting this to be a sonic generation remaster with a dlc worth of shadow stuff, that just seems realistic. If im wrong, great

How many games keep a lot of their content hidden, especially in reveal trailers? Hell, think of stuff like both Splatoon DLCs. They kept those pretty hidden up until release, and with Octo Expansion that was decently long and pretty good.
To summarize, bro is delusional
This is the very start of marketing for the game and it's comparable to Superstars' reveal, though it does show a bit less than that one; not saying that is going to be a massive campaign for a boost game but we have more reasons than not to expect more than just Episode Shadow in Generations with a boss.
The only situation and outcome where I could officially say that I am okay with seeing Sonic team reuse Green Hill and Classic Sonic if we could at least see Shadow, Black Doom, and Adventure 2/Shadow stages again.
A hopefully competent rerelease of Generations is something to look forward to, it and Mania are my favorite Sonic games. But if they go all in with the new stuff, I am HYPED.
A very in depth discussion. I'm surprised no mention of the VA for Shadow. Since Shadow the Hedgehog levels are being brought, it would be awesome to have Jason Griffith back as Shadow!!!! He was the main reason people played "Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)" despite the crazy ending requirements and homing attack fails. An instant buy for sure if Sega at least casts Jason. Jason Griffith knows just the right amount of Edgy and coolness to give as Shadow, Peak Edgehog!!!
13:01 Ideally, Colors Ultimate would've fused the Console and DS versions together, having the filler acts replaced with the ds acts. Same for the bosses. Tropical Resort could have Ferris Wheel Bot while Planet Wisp gets that drill-theme Globotron in DS. The guest characters, or at least some of them, could become playable, at the very least as Clones. Playing as Cream in Tropical Resort, Silver and Blaze in Sweet Mountain, Amy in Aquarium Park, and so on!
For Generations, oh so much potential. Like you said; DLC stages and bosses and maybe even characters! Other members of the cast deserve the kind of hype usually reserved for Shadow...
And the base Generations, PLEASE redo Planet Wisp, that was NOT fun!

Ever since I'm up to date recent Sonic news (since Frontiers), I've grown up to the point that I'm a Sonic fan again. Even those games since Frontiers had decent support thanks to SEGA listening to feedback. If this remake ever becomes polished and faithful to original, this will be a final nail in the coffin to all the poor remakes of Origins & Colors Ultimate or the dark age of Sonic as a whole.
I'm so intrigued to pick this up as a newcomer to the classics.

Another great video from you!! Personally I LOVE that they're remastering Generations and it just so happens that this is the same year I PLANNED to replay Generations 4 years later since my first time with Generations. I am still cautiously optimistic though as Colors Ultimate was really disappointing. I remember being really excited when it was announced and by the time more news came the less I was interested. Hoping for Generations it can run stable even for Switch, Colors was a Wii game they have no excuse. it's not THAT demanding. Shadow side story looks VERY promising as well too!
Sega didn't want to run the risk of low sales releasing a standalone shadow game again so they tacked on Sonic generations "remaster" to help sales as sonic sells
To my knowledge the 2005 Shadow game actually didn't do half bad.
It beat out all the storybook games in sales by a small landslide for instance. (to my knowledge). It's only a bit lower then sonic colors and forces. Many sonic games (sonic boom/lost world/black knight) have done WAY worse then Shadows game.
I think fans overestimate how poorly it did. It wasn't fantastic but it was far from terrible.
I can't wait to hear Kirk Thorton's performance in this game. It's time for him of finally portray Shadow to his fullest potential
I think the shadow content will be a short and sweet type deal. Im talking like 1 - 2hrs. Which honestly Im fine with. I could be wrong tho, it could be longer

Plus, if they make this good, and it sells well, Unleashed Remastered could come…

Regarding the Extra content remark in the trailer description. I think it's going to be a 3D World/Bowser's Fury esc release. Generations is going to be the exact same from 2011 (+ DLC if we're lucky) but comes with a mini campaign with gameplay from the later games. I hope "extra content" means adding more to Generations itself, but alas the cynic in me thinks not.
The worst part is it's probably going to have Denuvo on the PC releases.
I want Sega to remake sonic unleashed
Unleashed I'd rather remaster ahead of any other Sonic game. Potentially tweak some controls & speed, buff the combat precision or the general pacing of the Werehog whether faster attacks, less endlag, faster run & general movement speed, etc.
Hyper nostalgia, Unleashed would be an easy buy for me.
I don't see it happening if they won't get Jason back unless they reuse the old voice lines b/c id really rather not hear the new guy, no offense
If they did make an unleashed remake, my only hope is that there’s some way to speed up or skip the Warehog stages. I’ve tried to play through unleashed 3 times, but I never got past the Africa area because of how long they take. I have the attention span of a goldfish

I always just wanted them to continue making really tight and fluid 2d and 3d remakes of past levels as multiple dlc bundles for generations. I never needed a significant story for generations. It just works. When I played this game, after I was done, all I could think of was how many other levels they needed to remake, and how quickly id throw money at them for dlc content like that... But they didn't do shit.
PS - With the sonic adventure games being some of my favorite, but also acknowledging they could use updating, I hope multiple levels of SA2 are included for shadows storyline.
PS PS - I'm soooo glad you brought up SA2 battle multiplayer races. YES. Absolutely would LOVE a multiplayer option to 1v1 race others.
A lot of people seemed to have missed the text at the start of the trailer. Nothing there, either from the sonic or shadow portions of the game, is final. For all we know, they just straight up recorded the pc version for the first half and had their 3d animation studio make a cutscene to showcase the shadow half. They wouldn't be lying.
Not saying to raise or lower expectations, just keep them in check.
The trailer was super cool, but after what they did with Colors, we should be terrified. Also don't expect the Shadow levels to be anything better than the Cyberspace or Forces levels.

The Sonic series still continues to feel like a Roller Coaster to this day, but other than that I’m going to look at Sonic X Shadow Generations with an open mind, I’ve always wanted it ported to a Nintendo console, yeah the 3DS version is a thing but not as good and jam packed as the console versions. But some 3DS content such as the bosses, special stages and even Time Eater were just as good or even better than the console games.
I honestly prefer the 3ds modern gameplay over the HD version, so I do hope it’s included.
I really hope they keep the music cause Sonic Generations has probably the best soundtrack of recent Sonic games. If they hypothetically bring back the Big Arms boss in HD cause that boss had an absolutely phenomenal remix that was wasted by an easy pushover boss fight. If they can exstend it to make it worth it I would be so happy. Also the Shadow stuff looks amazing glad they’re retooling Radical Highway and Biolizard for Shadow since THATS HIS DOMAIN

So hold on. Did Shadow ultimately _usurp_ what was supposed to be the year of _Knuckles_ ? Even _Amy_ had more going for her last year in the anniversary of sorts of her debut, and she wasn't even playable back then (unless you count Sonic Drift).
All Knuckles has is a spin-off show that was probably effected by all the Hollywood strike drama, which is why we know next to nothing about it.
We're only getting all this Shadow content solely because Paramount wanted to jump into modern SA2 territory (rather than CD and the rest of the classic era, since Tails _and_ Knuckles were shoved into one film). SEGA is capitalizing on the third Sonic movie, because after so many L's in recent years, the box office seems to be going well for them (something that no other VG franchise can do, unless you're Detective Pikachu or Illumination's Mario).

And 06 Sonic would replace Classic Sonic With his Gamplay Level design and Movement resembling The 2D Sonic Rush Trilogy (With the trick system)

The one thing about this version i AM excited about (aside from boost Shadow) is seeing what new mods we might get. Regular generations already has a pretty big mod scene, but if this one gives DX12 support and less crashes that would change the game.

i think its clear to me that sonic has the blizzard problem. dont expect anything remotely good from them to come out until leadership of the company is changed to not be money motivated. its clear that they are perfectly okay with releasing unfinished and unpolished games because it makes the quarterly income look good. It's not that they aren't hearing the community, they simply don't care what we want. Don't expect overwatch 2 to improve until the leadership of the company is changed, don't expect sega to improve until the leadership of the company is changed.
Keep standards high, if a fangame can do better then the billion dollar corporation should be able to do better.

Great video! I’m mostly pretty excited to replay Sonic Generations on the PS5 even if I have some worries. I’m sure it will be a very fun time going through the new Shadow adventure. Thankfully I’ve been playing years of the mods on PC so I hope they don’t mess with that. I was hoping they would reimagine the 3DS levels onto this game but I feel it’s too much to ask now the game looks the exact same to me graphically. I’m hoping they at least tweaked classic Sonic physics. I don’t have a problem with classic Sonic. The story is corny & I found a video of a guy who rewritten the story for Generations I thought it was a great and improved idea. Not serious but playful funny fitting that meta era of how they portrayed Sonic. Sonic Lost World has more story & you could argue how cheesy it is but at least theirs a significant purpose to what’s going on in the plot. SMT please play Shadow the Hedgehog someday!

Had to come back to this for some slept on thoughts.
First, I think it's being used as a safe catch up game for the regular generation being introduced into the series site to time and movie newcomers.
Second, I swear, between Frontiers and now this, I swear they're doing stuff this way to have pre prepped assets for Adventure remakes, so they can put the "official" budget in more important areas. I guess it could count as pandering without committing, but game devs love reusing assets. They're putting in a lot of resources making even a few of these stages already.
I'm just worried about the price. Because the new content, I feel like this should be $40 max. But it's probably gonna be $60 or something stupid.
Depends on how much shadow content there is i think. I would gladly pay $60 if theres a full game worth of new stuff to enjoy.

I didn’t even know Ian Flynn’s doing the writing behind this content. It’s crazy to believe that even after 10+ years, I still have a good reason to play Generations again.
I’ve never been a shadow fan. Never played sa2 as a kid and playing it as an adult is painful. The only thing that hooked with me with shadow is his character and seeing Ian Flynn work on the story for this shadow story I’m excited because shadow’s portrayal in the Archie comics at the least the ones done by Flynn are my favorite depictions of the character. I genuinely hope SEGA loosens up around how shadow acts so that he’s not the same edgelord he’s been for the past decade for no good reason. I want this game to make me a shadow fan. And seeing shadow shoot a chaos spear in the gameplay makes me hope that they finally utilize shadows actual unique and cool abilities that they never use in the games and just copy and paste sonic. If I can use the damn hover boots 10/10.

Sure, its likely gonna be better than Colors Ultimate, but that's gonna say less to SxS Gens, and more to the absolute dumpster fire that was SCU at launch
I think if they're going to delist the original Generations, they should at least include it alongside the remaster on PC as like an alternate launch option (like how some games on Steam have the option to boot up the launcher or an alternate build of the game)
That way they still get their money without an older, cheaper version to compete with, and new players get to mess around with the hundreds of existing mods.
Will they do it though? Almost certainly not

That or not locking this new version to Denuvo or whatever software that's a modder's nightmare so older mods have a shot of being preserved.

Tbh I get WHY they're remastering Generations. The Switch money is definitely there, even if it's accessible on most modern stuff still. I feel like they definitely just wanted to play it safe and package in a big Shadow fanservice expansion for diehard fans to double dip.
I triple dipped on Forces so I was a lost cause w/ or w/o the Shadow campaign, main positive at least being Generations is a much better game by comparison.

I definitely agree, the Shadow part of the trailer looks _extremely_ well made. The production value looks huge compared to the Sonic part of the teaser... And the game isn't even out yet. It looks genuinely impressive.
For base generations I don't expect much for changes, simply because the shadow part must've take a lot of time.
Maybe add more music tracks and cosmetics, drop dash for classic sonic (as a base movement or an upgrade)and removal/made optionnal of lives
I think Shadow is one of the most likely newcomers for the next Smash, with his own moveset, reveal trailer, and the like. He was very highly requested during Ultimate's pre-release.
Anyways, I think this is a straight port of Generations with the Shadow campaign tacked on. I disagree in having any confidence in Sonic Team because Frontiers still betrays the franchise's core conventions in a bad way, has little polish, is very boring to play, controls terribly in its default settings, is one of Ian Flynn's worst writings, the characterization is as offensively bad as Forces but for different reasons, tho that's all an opinion. I'm still interested in how they go about an in-house remaster where they don't have to think about re-inventing the wheel. I hope Shadow gets his own set of level as long as the base game, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Forces level since it does look to be made in Hedgehog Engine 2.
Idk where else to say this, but I'm always annoyed with Shadow's skin color being the same as Sonic's. In SA2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic 06 he had a darker skin tone that gels much better with his color palette. I want them to bring back the darker skin tone and the fang he had in his solo game. The Sonic renders from the early 2010's are REALLY dated, and the character models should get spruced up with more animated facial expressions, less exaggerated proportions, and added details like I described for Shadow. It'd go a long way to make the game look even better.
I know that in this case if you do one youd need to do it for the other, but I actually think if they wanted to generate hype for Shadow a remaster or remake of Adventure 2 would have been perfect for that. A lot of the fans of the movie are people who already know about Shadow's story and seeing the game would probably get people more excited especially younger audiences who don't know about Shadow. I just think it would have worked better.
I'm getting sense post-movie any sort of SA2 content in a major way, not just a remaster or remake of it, would probably make more sense, depends on how much they'd go balls deep on a SA2 rerelease in some manner compared to this for Gens, which seems smarter financially.

iam sure Time eater takes a massive play in this maybe he failed to lock shadow away and shadow decides to follow him but when doing so shadow corrupted the time space with his memories ( just like sonic and the others )
Seeing BlackDoom and Mephiles would be great both of them tried to put shadow on their side because shadow used to hate humanity and both harassed him during is story arcs.
we went from The ARK to Westopolis mixed with radicalhigway so we should expect other mix of stages coming from shadow the hedgehog and 06 ( that's their chance to bring back Mephiles the other reason is cause the time eater placed blaze in crisis city )

I wonder how shadows campaign will be, seeing as there is no "classic shadow." Shadow became a character in the modern era. Hopefully we finally get some actual insight on shadows past, because very little is known about that.
I actually don’t want them to change Classic Sonic in Generations because of his spin-dash that was so broken yet so fun to use. City Escape Act 1 is my favorite Classic Sonic stage because of the thrills of using the spin-dash and avoiding the GUN truck. Also, the multiplayer is a good idea, but what about Classic Sonic? What’s his 2nd player counterpart going to be? I guess they could make a Classic Shadow just for fan-service.
I personally hope that they take the opportunity to let out some dlc with this game. It never really made sense to me that base Generations only ever got a crappy pinball table.

You know actually it makes sense they wouldn't remake Unleashed... Considering how controversial the werehog is. Knowing SEGA, I'm not surprised they aren't willing to go near it. They like overcorrecting when it comes to negative feedback, and I don't have any faith they would bother doing anything to fix the game's issues if they remastered it.
(HOWEVER... If they're addressing the Shadow the Hedgehog game with Black Doom, then _maybe_ there is hope).

I hope those renders are just place holders and didn't have time the original renders for this yet I don't hate the style guide sonic renders but this does not go together at all hell I wouldn't mind them re using a Sonic forces render as a place holder because fits better for what there trying to portray sonic in shadow resembling a similar way how SA2 did it though I hope these renders don't ended up being the final key art when it releases

2:37 Yeah, I would've happy with a simple port. Counterpoint to your argument about computer requirements; laptop gaming isn't exactly accessible. I want to get Generations on my laptop and a few mods, but I've no idea what kind of controller to look for, the specs of my laptop, heck, almost every time my laptop enters sleep mode it loses the capacity to connect to Wi-Fi at all and I have to restart! Consoles are FAR more straight forward, at least as I remember.
I still don’t understand why people expect more out of Generations’ story. It’s an anniversary, it’s okay that it’s simple. That’s the point!
Adventure 2 & 06 (for better or worse) were also anniversaries and they gave more nuanced & substantial stories still. Gens slaps either way, but it could be even better if they did give it a stronger narrative surrounding it & at least Shadow Generations may fill some gaps in at least wanting some type of nuanced Generations narrative.
@@SuperMarioT Keep this in mind: Generations came out during the period where Sonic game became more lighthearted in order to make the franchise more contemporary, so whatever they were trying to do in Adventure 2 or 06 wouldn’t have fitted well.

No, I get that, I just know I'm not 100% the same audience Sonic Team & SEGA were trying to market to afa Sonic's narratives and when Unleashed was my starting point & when going from Colors & Gens to then Black Knight, the Adventure games, CD, 06, etc. even w/ 06's story (I don't think it's as bad as people say), and seeing a bunch of other fans who got in before I did, it feels stifling imo.
@@SuperMarioT Well something that’s important to keep in mind is that after Unleashed, Sega wanted to reinvent Sonic by making the games with a more lighthearted tone and style to make the franchise more contemporary. Unfortunately that means that the kind of storytelling in the Adventure games, 06 and Unleashed wasn’t what they were focusing on when they got to Generations.

The weakest part of Generations is its story. To be honest, adding shadow and new levels that tribute him is enough for me to throw $$. But once again, they prove they're not truly ready to give the fans what they asked for. because we all know damn well for Sonics 30th anniversary. Adventure should've been the current gen Remake with well thought QOL changes.

Ian Flynn writing it makes me incredibly concerned. He as well as the fans, do not understand Shadow or the point of Shadow's story in Shadow '05. Shadow originally lived only to carry on the will of Maria. In Shadow '05, it is about the possibilities of Shadow depending on whose will he carries out. And the ending of the game is him finally living for himself and carrying out his OWN will.
Ian Flynn as well as the fans want Shadow to have not moved on from the past and still be bound by the promise to Maria, even though thats not where Shadow's character is anymore. If I see the line, "I made a promise to Maria," said one more time in any official or fan project, I'm going to lose it. Nobody understands Shadow.

My grip with the port is that Sega is gonna try to make the original become delisted on all platforms (including Xbox backwards compatibility). And if the port becomes a worse experience (which I’m hoping it won’t be) then that would be a disaster… and not to mention, Sega’s hard on for DRM
5:17 That's wrong. the Wii although vastly interior in terms of hardware in comparison to the X360 and PS3, was still a 7th generation console. The only reasons why Unleashed had a PS2 port (you know, the 6th gen console) was because it's specs were around the same as the Wii's and hella people still had one in 2008.
I've been wanting Generations on modern consoles for awhile so I'd have been happy with just a port. So naturally I'm stoked for the new content. They gave me more than I asked for.
If they brought in the 3DS content as well then I'd of had no doubts about supporting this...but idk something feels off about bringing back a game that already looks more than acceptable
So theres potentially a reason why the gens part of the trailer looks EXACTLY the same, its probably because its is. People are putting together the leaks and even the description of the video its self and theres a chane we haven't even SEEN the remaster yet, just old footage, basically pulling a sonic 3 on us again, obviously theres no real proof of this, but it lines up a little to well.
