Rondo had a higher IQ offensively and defensively. The only thing Trae does better than Rondo is shoot but it’s still widely inefficient at times and he turns the ball over a lot. If you’re looking to build a championship team, you need a player like Rondo. Not to say Trae can’t win one, but so much of the offence has to be sacrificed to fit his style of play. Plugging him into Boston isn’t as simple as they’re making it sound especially with how Trae plays lol
“The only thing trae does better is shoot” might be the most brain dead take I ever heard. Trae is better at literally every facet of scoring. His layup package is better (by ALOT), he has the best floaters in the game except for maybe Jokic, and he is a better mid range scorer and is on top of that he is the better shooter. On every level of scoring trae outclasses Rondo (by more than Rondo beats him in passing). The biggest gap that Rondo has is his defense but give Trae Kevin Garnett and that defense would be fine

Rondo knew what to do in those situations. Trae is nowhere near the defender pre-ACL Rondo is. This shouldn't even be up for a debate.
Doc had his greatest amount of success when Rondo was his PG because of how much Rondo challenged him straight up. Rondo's IQ clears Trae's even on Trae's best day.

Rondo was about it. Defensive juggernaut for a PG that would lock up in the perimeter and surprisingly strong that could lower his shoulder and get to the basket, especially against today's weak guards. His defense would nullify Trigga Trae's 3s.

To say it’s not close is crazy. We get way too enamoured on the offensive end as if defence doesn’t exist. Jokic is an A+ offensive player, but KG is like a B+/A
Defensively Jokic is like a C/C+ and KG is an A+.
I get Jokic’s passing is what puts him over the top, but KG was a hell of a passer at the PF back in the 2000’s averaging 4-6 assists and that was a lot for a big at that time. If he had the spacing today and the added responsibility of now being able to run the floor as a point forward, he can easily average 8-9 assists along with the already 10-13 rpg and 20-24 ppg.
To say its not even close is a stretch
