As a former bus driver, I believe this is extra distressing to me. Even if no one got hurt and nothing was substantially damaged, I would probably have nightmares about this for weeks or months if it had happened to me.
Reminds me of a bus driver here who through something beyond their control ran over someone and got acquitted of involuntary manslaughter. Never quite recovered.

I was a driver that experienced black ice, with kids in the bus. Talk about a struggle between panic and staying calm using all your skills as best you can. It's a helpless feeling. My situation turned out ok- I got the bus to hit hedges and that worked. A soft crash/stop.

Almost anything can drift- u could drift a semi truck, it would be hard but it would be possible, if u lock up the rear tires and all u could get a small drift, keep in mind a bus still works the same as a car (well other then the fact it uses air breaks) plus I’m pretty sure busses are not all wheel, if it was front wheel drive u could technically power slide in reverse technically

I’ll never forget in 1994 when we had a substitute bus driver and he hit a glare of ice and we completely tipped over on our side. My window was on the ground but since it was slow to tip, none of the windows broke and there were no injuries, just scares. I felt bad for the old man who happened to fill in that dark winter morning. The sun hadn’t even risen yet.

@@MaggiePies Sadly, I’m thinking he was let go. I felt really bad for him. He was over 70 at the time and had never done that route before and there just happened to be ice and he hit it in the dark backing up. No one was injured, but it was scary because the whole bus tipped on its side.

When I was riding the short bus after having surgery and being in a wheelchair, a woman who had lied to doctors about having a ride after getting sedation slammed into the back of the bus. She was so out of it that she passed out and rammed us. Those wheelchair belts aren't worth a damn and I almost flung out lmfao. Our bus driver said, "THAT is why you don't drive while impaired." 🙃
