So what is needed is an attachment to the end of the hose that has a retractable set of metal 'fingers' (like prongs on a metal rake) that can be activated to open up and grab something so you can pull it out with the hose.

OK After That Black & White Hose Backlash/Untangle I've A Public Service Announcement!
The Aussie's use Reels that they carry to the affected area & hookup to the pump from another reel in the van/truck! While their heavy it appears to keep the hose from getting tangled in the Van & saves time.
That is one for the trophy room.
I wonder if you can attach a rear facing hook that might grab an object like that? I know it would depend on not catching it on displaced pipe work. But nevertheless, brilliant work you blokes. From Queensland Australia.

Another one for the trophy shelf. That drain camera display looks like a Bio hazard - fairly splattered with 'solids'. As bad as the average Gamers Keyboad that.
I gather you couldn't just go into the house, take the toilet off and inspect what the blockage was in the first place, since it was right there? Especially once you found out what it was? And if you had a reverse nozzle you could have hooked it and pulled it out. Plus, it's great for root cutting.

tape a bit of wire to the end of the jet , bend it so it makes a hook , send it up and drag it back ? or just take waste pipe off the back of the toilet and put your hand down

Why not just remove the loo and reach down and grab it? A new seal, not one of those crappy wax ones and you'd be on your way in 5 minutes?

People still using the toilet fresheners wrongly 🤷 thinking they hook them over the toilet rim 🙈👎 if you use them, when you buy them just take it out the wrapper and push it up the toilet rim where the flush comes out,SIMPLES 😀🫶
