    2:25 As a teacher, I can tell you that ghosts do communicate with us via school supplies. My pens keep going missing. I take this to mean that those in the afterlife are working on a killer essay and keep running out of ink.

      As someone whose pens always go missing regardless of whether there are people around or not... WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY!? I just bought a pack of 20 and they dwindled to 8 in less than a day! WHY?! Is it gremlins? Do they sprout legs? Are they teleporting to another dimension along with all my left socks and the screws that hold my glasses together? Please explain this phenomenon to me scishow.

    Never heard of this challenge and I am astonished that there are people who didn't understand how it works. The moment he said what the challenge is, it becomes instantly obvious that you simply blow on it. There have been studies showing that the average IQ of the human population is growing. This makes me doubt that.

      The company who paid for the ad time didn't pay enough. :P

    • @arthas640
      @arthas640 Před 4 lety

      commercials are pretty much charged based on what time they air, what else is showing at that time, what channel its on, and once that's all figured out they charge by the second. Sometimes to increase initial sales they'll make an ad that's either extra long and airs during a less expensive time or they make a regular ad that plays during prime time. After they have that initial increase in sales during the original ad campaign they'll reuse the same ad and rerun it during less expensive time slots and/or trim the ad down, the last few seconds of ads are sometimes just time to let the ad soak in, they're not usually conveying new information so it's easy to cut the last couple seconds and maybe the first seconds of an ad to make it shorter without effecting the core message and without losing key information. Sometimes the TV channel may raise their rates or may to try and minimize time between ads and that can lead to kind of jarring shifts as two ads ram together.
      TL;DR it's to save costs on ads.

    • @liam_iam
      @liam_iam Před 9 lety +13

      Josef Schwardt what's "twice as cold" in the first place? o.O

    • @Darticus42
      @Darticus42 Před 9 lety +18

      Josef Schwardt I'm assuming that twice as cold means half the temperature of the previous day. Well, if this is in degrees Kelvin (Kelvin isn't measured in degrees but lets ignore that for now), 0/2 = *0 Kelvin*. But if it's 0 degrees Celsius, which is 273.15 Kelvin, ((0+273.15)/2)= 136.58 Kelvin or about *-136.57 degrees Celsius*. If it's 0 degrees Fahrenheit, that's 255.37 Kelvin /2 = 127.685 Kelvin, which is *-229.837 degrees Fahrenheit*.
      Since you mentioned a scientific question, let's go by scientific rules. Kelvin is the most applicable measurement of temperature in science because it models how there cannot be negative energy (can't go lower than 0). but since Kelvin isn't measured in degrees that doesn't really count. The next most applicable is arguably Celsius since it's based on Kelvin, so the correct answer is probably *-136.57 degrees celsius*.
      There you go.

    • @BeyReaper
      @BeyReaper Před 9 lety +2

      Well what I would've done is converted Celsius to Kelvin, because Kelvin shows how much energy mass has, multiply that by two and then converted that back to Celsius. Now this is definitely not the way to calculate the temperature of tomorrow but it's a simple way to put it, even though it's incorrect, most likely.

    • @Darticus42
      @Darticus42 Před 9 lety

      CPLCraft I converted to Kelvin in each of those as well. Why multiply by two? That would make it twice as hot, since the higher the number the more potential energy/heat.

    Tricks along these lines are fairly classic. It's probably worth pointing out that the mechanical equilibrium is complicated by small irregularities in the surfaces of the table and the pencils, etc. While the system at rest remains so, it only takes a very small amount of alteration in conditions - a small amount of air current or some condensation from exhaled air close to the system - to upset the equilibrium enough to create the observed effects. Mentalists and stage magicians have used the 'blow on it' method for things like these for ages, and when done competently they can create some fairly convincing illusions. :)
