is this something receptionists typically do? or is this usually up to the dentist or hygienist? just curious because im working at a new dental office as the receptionist (no prior experience with dentistry or “receptionist” work) and theyre telling me this will be my job. theyve told me to watch youtube videos to learn rather than them teaching me and i just feel like i will never be able to learn how to do this
I feel like the best way to ensure the treatment plan is effective and efficient for scheduling/ planning the patients appts are to have the doctor, assistant, and hygienist create it. They can create it, prioritize which procedures need to be done in what order, and plan appointments for you with the times needed for those procedures. This would make it so much easier for the front desk person to just grab the first planned appt with the doctors preferred time for that appt and schedule it. Hope this helps
Thank you so much. You explained well.
