Here's the top 10 as of September 30, 2020:

And once again, Mario Kart dominates the charts. I wonder, is Pokemon's success overhyped by its own fanbase?
On the switch every game's sales seem to do very well bc the switch does very well. But if u compare them by placement, pokemon drops a few spots, whereas smash and animal crossing do much better. Which is why I disagree with people who say the Sword and Shield boycott was a "disappointment". I'm sure if it was the game ppl wanted, it would've done much better
@@adamsrankings8860 I guess, but even if the boycott never happened, I kinda doubt their place would have changed much. Though whether it's more because the series suffers(?) from Kirby/Mega Man syndrome or older fans are just starting to lose interest in a game that continues to appeal primarily to a younger audience, I don't know.
@@adamsrankings8860 pokemon swsh is about to become the second best selling game in the series and is already the best selling jrpg in the last twenty years. What are you two talking about lmao. Mario kart games sell better because there’s only one per console and they are often packaged with the system. Also the boycott ended up increasing sales because all publicity is good publicity.

@@noponarchsage7360 I'm talking about Pokemon's status as the "highest grossing media franchise in the world" compared to other games, because that keeps getting thrown in my face every time Sword and Shield's quality is brought up. Starting with the DS when Pokemon was apparently "at its best", Mario Kart has sold more copies than every individual Pokemon title on that system. Anybody can look up a breakdown of the franchise's revenue and see that the games themselves only make up a fraction of those sales, yet everyone always says the same thing: "a multi billion dollar game series shouldn't look like this", as if the games are solely responsible. So I'll ask again: how popular are the games, really?

So much Pokémon and seeing mario kart 7 at #1 makes me want a mario kart 9 so much!
About half of these are remakes. I still don't understand why people pay so much for an old game to have better graphics. It's cheaper (and better in my opinion) to just get the original.
They're more like sequels as they're separate games of the same series. Although I kind of get what you're saying, I disagree. When I think of paying for the same game I think of Madden of Fifa. Maybe I misunderstood?

Well I'm looking at games like ocorina of time 3D and the pokemon remakes. I played heart gold on the DS back in 2010 and it was almost identical to the original pokemon gold, which I still have. Sure the remakes have better graphics and a few extra features, but it really just seems like nintendo is trying to squeeze as much money as they can from old nostalgic games. This is similar to Marvel and DC recreating the same superhero movies after several years for another money grab.
