I haven’t had the chance to travel outside of Wellington just yet, but I do plan to do so for the last 4 months of my visa. I’ve got plans to check out the South Island for 2 months, then come back to the far north island and travel around for the last 2 months. Super pumped for it. I'm originally from Auckland and I lived in Wellington for 3 years and now I live in Sydney Australia but I still miss the artistic and creative environment in Wellington, the whole Cuba St community and the nite life both as a patron and as a professional street performer Wellington is such a good mix of both islands
I agree. Wellington is a pretty vibrant city. Had a great time while I was there. I don’t miss the wind at all or walking up hill literally anywhere I went, but it was a fantastic place lol. My legs were jacked by the time I left so that was a win.😂
Auckland is awful! The hot, humid climate and it's a really ugly "sprawl". Wellington is big enough to be interesting and to have great food, but small enough to have a "heart and soul". Even *Sydney* has a "heart and soul" - Darling Harbour feels just like Wellington! When you potter around there, you don't get the feeling at all that you're in a big city, and the trains can whisk you out to the edge of the city in no time!
I really did appreciate the quietness of Wellington. If the raging wind wasn’t howling in my ear, it was nice to just sit in silence in a nice empty field. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Wow thank you so much! Anytime I look back on this video I always remember what I did to setup each shot. How many times I either messed up, or when I had to stop because of rain and even how much of an effort it was to get to some of those places! I biked/walked everywhere I went so just going out there was a mission by itself! Either way, I had such a good time while I was there and I’ll never forget it. Kapiti coast is gorgeous! I was only there briefly, but it was nice. Pretty much anywhere you go in New Zealand is beautiful. Even when I was working, I would stop and just say, “wow.” Some of the best views I’ve ever seen in my life. Wellington is a gorgeous place. I look forward to going back someday.
I still miss Wellington. Was born in the Windy City and grew up in Fox St, Ngaio so as kid's we played up on Mt Kau Kau in fact I was able to watch the TV Tower being constructed from my bedroom 😉😁😊....

Kia ora! I must say I did great walking the trails around Welly. My favorite would be the Te Kopahou trail going up to the Conservatory before descending to Brooklyn. I lived in Newtown for nearly eight years working as a nurse at Te Hopai Home and Hospital. My days off were mostly spent in exploring walking adventures from mountains to the seas within Wellington. I may be home for good now here in the Philippines since 2016 but Wellington will definitely be second home to me. Absolutely, positively Wellington!

Wonderfull beaches and Marine Reserve that can be travelled to by a suburban bus!(Island Bay). Great dive spots. Whale, orca and dolphin visitors. Miss my home town in a big way.
You forgot to mention, spectacular coffe, variarety of sports like surfing, kitesurfing, dragon boat, rugby, cricket . . Public transport is decent enough, and also from time to time you might just get free tickets of you ask around Westpac Stadium whenever a match is on
Well yes, Wellington is great. It does have a few minor problems though. First it can occasionally get rather windy, but when it does just lean into the wind and soldier on. Second it is right on a major fault line called the Wellington Fault, which in the immediate past caused the fault angle depression which elevated the land area of the present city up out of the sea, and resulted in the cliffs which line the Western side of the harbour a major threat to transport by road and rail into and out of the city in an emergency. But is this worse than San Fransisco? Next do not attempt to land in Wellington in a Boeing 747 or an Airbus A380 cos it won't happen except in an emergency with massive fuel dumping and with spoilers up and maximum reverse thrust, because the runway is too short. But the runway is fine for all other aircraft including the Boeing 777 which Singapore Airlines operate. However Wellington is a very rewarding place to visit. The people are quite lovely. Seems beautiful but also kind of boring. New Zealand is a good country but you have to be rich to make a living there. Cost of housing, and wages are that high in NZ. But it has low crimes, people seem civil for the most part, definitely not like US lol. And its clean.
Its not as expensive as alot of people make it out to be, unless you have no qualifications and are on minimum it can be difficult if you want your own home (not flatting with people ect). As a student it's okay getting by with a part time job and full time study (with student debt). But you definitely need a degree or certifications to make a comfortable living. (House prices are mental for buying but renting if your smart and get lucky your okay). There is also alot going on from festivals to activities or cafés/restaurants, there's the beach and mountains its amazing, far from boring. :)
Never had any problems with shops closing early as 5. I’m not a nightlife type of person, but Courtenay place area seemed to be lively. Wellington was good for me but might not be for everyone
