You know from the beginning this is going to be great. The tempo and flow is perfect from the first two chords. Bravo!

Great performance. Beethoven would have been proud of this performance, orchestra and the conductor. RIP Mariss Jansons

      This a great performance, indeed!
Maestro Jansons conducted briefly before his death a concert in St Petersburg to jubilate his mentor Yuri Temirkanov's 80th birthday. Jansons did look quite well then.

Jansons and the orchestra combine for a great Eroica performance. I miss him.

Christmas 1964, i received Beethoven's 9 symphonies (Joseph Krips,LSO) and although I had my favorites IE the 5th, and 7th, there was really only one true favorite, the Eroica, which I couldn't get enough of.

A truly profound reading, with depth but without overslow tempos. In fact, the Marcia funebre is vital as I have ever heard it....

Ah! This symphony! I've been listening to it at least once a week for the last 51 years, with a multitude of conductors and orchestras(my first version was that of Jochum and the Concertgebouw), and it is always the same magic moment that I wait for: the four transition bars of the reprise in the first movement! If they are not played, it's a disappointment, and no matter how good the performance! Here, I am fully satisfied: it's an excellent performance, and the four bars are there! RIP, maestro🙏.

I came across a recording of this Symphony NO 3 by William Steinberg -The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. I have listened to version for over 60 years and believe this performance is equals my recording.

What a wonderful video of a truly wonderful conductor and orchestra! Surely one of the great rehearsal videos of all time, on a par with the 1960 rehearsal of Die Moldau by the clearly ill but equally superb conductor Ferenc Fricsay..

Splendid and broad-based performance, with a wonderful sense of phrase. Excellent playing by principal oboe, flute and horn, with exchanges in the first two movements. If the ads could be moved to before the music, rather than interrupting the slow movement twice, that would be appreciated.

A very distinct version of Beethoven's 3rd ala Mariss Jansons. Very enjoyable and interestingly different from the way that it is usually interpreted.

The fact that Beethoven existed questions everything human kind did afterwards. Same with civilisation 2000 years ago...how is it possible, the middle ages came next,...how!??

It is the psychosis of the ego. Beethoven had a big ego as well, his music is no sign of enlightenment. It is all based on emotions, that are based on thoughts, that come from mind which is a product of the human psychosis. One has to go back in time much longer than 2000 years to find human beings that lived in harmony and oneness with nature, without a separating mind. Of course our love for art is a clear sign of our longing to find this union again, which is good. Only we are looking in the wrong place. We should not immitate nature we see and hear outside, but find out that, without mind, in fact we are nature and we only need to be present and silent with that.
