"Food in Wong Kar Wai's Happy Together" by Joel Blackledge: • Food in Wong Kar-wai's...
anyways. more incredibly real filmmaking tips and tutorials from a lil guy who has a Lai Yiu Fai & Ho Po Wing relationship with Adobe Premiere Pro. also short films and 王家衛 type beat cinematic vlogs / videos
&
visual aesthetics and cinematography aside, and obviously being from HK i have so much interest in the conceptual storytelling the films, especially as the backdrop (as in contextual or historical) are similarly themes that ring true today. just like how Mr Chow and Mrs Chan (Su Li-zhen) in In the Mood for Love evoke universal themes and emotions on restraint love, forbidden romance, yearning etc - my personal connection with the city means there are aspects that are equally significant to me. and i believe it doesn't take that for other people to resonate with them, from national identity / queer relationships / toxic relationships. nostalgia on blast

a cinematic joke currently wallowing in hong kong and in humid sweat. also watch Heat 1995 al pacino and robert deniro is in it. and wes anderson's asteroid city 2023

Loved the vid
Just found you. Shocked u have so few likes when u got that amazing editing skills and hooking humour.
As someone who isn’t familiar with Hong Kong films but have a nostalgia for the concept cuz it was popular in Korea in my parents’ time, I would’ve loved a section in the video quietly watching relevant clips of those films for a few minutes, getting to get a better feel of it. But I understand yt copyright issues can be a hassle.
ayy thank u! and appreciate the feedback so much :)

Fun video.
I met and interviewed Christopher Doyle when I was covering film festivals as a journalist and film critic.
He was easily the most entertaining and funniest DP I ever met.
As for the title of the video, Im fine with now writing about film again on Substack.
No offense.
I Like when you swear..,.,..
I WANT TO WATCH MY FAVORITE HK MOVIE ROUGE WITH YOU. A 1988 MASTERPIECE BY STANLEY KWAN ABOUT DEEP LOVE AND LOSING IT. FROM ROBERT CONNECTICUT USA. I LIVED IN WAN CHAI AT ONE TIME.
wong kar wai is from shanghai.
yeah. he was born there and grew up in HK. thus the influence on ITMFL especially of shanghainese & 60s HK
hahaha
are you also being this funny while you speaking canto
I'd like to say even funnier but mostly bc canto is just a funnier language. maybe i should add obligatory canto segments to videos
wkw is severely overrated but your video is nicely done!
imo his cinematography can be sometimes but many ppl miss the hk contextual and personal side of it, which better explains his style :)
