    I found a guy that owned a lot of the arcades in the Southern California area where I grew up by coincidence what I started looking for someone in the United States with a vewlix back in 2020. Also I was able to find a vewlix L then had already been converted to two player. I wanted to dive back in and finish turning it into a steam machine, but me and my family have had a good time playing it as is. Unfortunately someone installed a Pandora’s box but the coin slot works just fine and I changed all the graphics to streetfighter five. I love your set up.

      I have had a lot of trouble with that switch and PS5 stuff though- Not totally sure what the issue is. Works fine for everything else, including an Xbox One Series X I used to have. Generally I just connect the PS5 through it with a hard manual switch now. Annoying, but that's what it is I guess. In general, PS5 is super obnoxious about inputs and outputs. Spoils what would otherwise be a phenomenal console for me.

    Amazing video! I'm just getting started on learning everything I can about home arcade stuff, though I'm pretty nooby when it comes to that AND electronics stuff. So, I kind of just wanna know how you got your PC attached to it? You probably have a disassembled one running inside your system, but is it possible to just use HDMI & USB (assuming the Vewlix control panel has an external one?!) to connect the system to an external PC? Is it also possible for me to just chuck my gaming laptop in there and connect it? Also, how did you get the Vewlix control panel working on all those systems at once? I get the HDMI splitter part, but how do you seamlessly get the control panel connected for all those systems at once? (I know it has something to do with the Universal Fighting PCB, but I just can't wrap my head around how the control panel is connected to all of those at once. Are there multiple... really long USBs inside?)
    So sorry for all the questions, I'm just so amazed! It's been so hard to find information online that doesn't delve into the technical mumbo jumbo that's hard for a newbie like me to understand, and this setup looks like everything I've been dreaming of!

    beautiful man! I'm so glad Hadoken bracket breathed life in my cab. I also have an ami L and boy was that 720p screen awful, had it for 4 years. Just popped in a new LG VA panel. I hope one day you can try Samurai Showdown, apparently on Xbox series X it runs at 120 Hz, the first fighter to do so. Sadly the PC version doesn't which is crazy to me, but eventually, I imagine. • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před 2 lety

      I’ve got Samurai Shodown on the PC and my Series X - that lives upstairs. I didn’t realize the PC version didn’t have parity for frame rate! I was just annoyed with it on Series X because of the crazy screen tearing- our TV doesn’t have any kind of sync. Man, I wish that game had better netcode- I really like it. I am a member of that group- good call- I’ll post there now. Hopefully nobody will be too angry at me for drilling holes in a panel…

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před 2 lety

      Sure! Check out the usb video I made for how I switch between different console controls. Anything else is just done through the hdmi on the back of the LG panel. Since the panel is handling audio and video through hdmi, the sound is split out of that as well into a small inexpensive speaker amp.

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před rokem +1

      The little control panel is really just the one that came with the system- a plain plastic panel. I drilled holes in it, mounted buttons (24mm) and also holes for USB extension cables and volume attenuation controls. The volume knobs are an attenuator between a source (the monitor) and the amplifier / speakers. The actual source is turned up to 100%, and the speakers are turned up high too. The volume knob simply goes from total zero volume to that high point established by the speakers and monitor.

      @@dorfus If you are thinking about a front end, I would suggest Attract Mode as you can customise it to what you want. However, if you do not want to do any set up then coinops is your better choice. You have most of the fighters that you want or need, however they miss a lot of good fighters, hence why I prefer Attract Mode, that and you can have as many themes as you want for different displays so you can have one theme for the main menu, switch to Capcom as an example and have another theme for that, you also have a Nesica Live theme for download so it has plenty of scope. Nice build though.

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před 3 měsíci +1

      So that sub panel was a plain plastic panel on the vewlix that I drilled holes into. I wired a pc power switch into it. I think now there are several people who make plexi or metal panels that fit that spot- it is essentially a removable plastic piece that can be replaced with all manner of card reader or accessory as the arcade required.

      Hey there! I’m trying to remember the exact wires from the original Taito amp but I can’t find the diagram now- basically it’s a little connection cable that I cut and directly wired into the amplifier listed as an Amazon link below. The dials on the top really just attenuate the volume coming from the PC inside- the amplifier itself is always at the same level.

Does it turn on automatically when you turn on your computer? Or do you have to go to the back of the machine to turn it on? Again, thanks for the help 😀

    I always enjoyed the vewlix cabinets design, but noir and sega2p layout it's more ergonomic, I'm wonder if there is layout mods for cabinet.

      I'm sure you could have someone make a panel of any layout- there are some great custom builders out there. We've joked around here about having a panel made that has a hitbox on the 2P side.

    Thanks for the video. How did you wire the speakers into the amp? Did you remove the existing 4 wires from the JST connector, and if so, how did you convert them into the RCA style plugs on the amplifier you linked? I am trying to bypass the stock amp in my Diamond Orange with a PS4 because it just buzzes and doesn't work. I would really like to avoid taking apart/replacing the original speakers...

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před 2 lety

      I cut the original sound connector off, the one that connected to the Taito board. I stripped the wires for a normal amplifier connection and used the following for connecting to the amp:
      The "S" connector looks to be a JST XL, and looking at the Vewlix schematics it is for the speakers
      Pin 1 Speaker L+
      Pin 2 Speaker R+
      Pin 3 Speaker L-
      Pin 4 Speaker R-
      I found that in a forum somewhere. The speakers are wired in sequence by the way. So even though there are four, you only need to connect left and right.

    Do you find a 2 player control panel with 8 buttons each to be cramped with 2 adults sitting next to each other?

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před rokem +1

      It’s actually not too bad. Certainly preferable to be on different machines, but I’ve played this a lot with other people and don’t have an issue with it. I do however have an issue with two player on a Blast City- I always wondered why people used 2P Sega as a standard and not 1p. The reason is because 1P Sega has its buttons tilted weird so the first player won’t constantly be elbowing the second player.

    • @tomrwills
      @tomrwills Před rokem

      @@dorfus thanks. I have seen JonyFraze do 2 cabs next to each other, 1P panels each. That's ideal but obviously costly and takes up more room.
      Another option I have been thinking about is a 1P panel (most likely the most common use case) and just use a USB port to plug in another fight stick to sit on player 2's lap.

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před 2 lety

      Honestly, it's really hard to find them right now. I bought a lot of them for around the actual cash value on eBay a year ago- I think I just got lucky. More recently, I've had friends in Korea and Japan send me 100 yen coins that they had on hand. Do NOT buy the Olympic 100 yen coins you see on eBay- my machines reject them. Something is slightly different about them.

    Question, I'm looking at the wireless charger you bought off amazon, but how did you mount it to work under the nesica panel? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @dorfus
      @dorfus  Před 2 lety +1

      I cut down all the internal structures attached to the Nesica card reader, and removed all the associated electronics. A very close connection is essential. Then I basically gutted the wireless charger and removed the pad (be careful not to crack it) and hot glued the whole thing tightly within the Nesica reader. Not pretty, but it is very functional and charges the phone even when the pc inside is off.
