  • Shore fishing for mackerel in Nova Scotia, Canada. On this trip, we went fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and caught approximately 50 mackerel. Fishing from piers during the summer months is one of my favourite activities. For gear, we used Sabiki Rigs with 4oz weighted hooks.
    Note: All of the fish caught and kept in this video were not put to waste.

    Man , i remember as a kid back in the 70s literally chasing schools of mackerel up and down the local wharf on our bicycles to get ahead of the and get jig hooks in the water , some times as many as 3 jigs and get a crack at them as they chased schools of kaplin. The waters were full of both of them back then. No size limits , the small 'tinkers" were always better eating i thought.

    Hey Logan, looks like you had a great day fishing for sure. I can't believe how flat calm the water was for you that day. Usually the water is a little choppy down that way. Nice looking stringers you had on. I love hauling in mackerel like that. When ever I had one on I would let it swim around and see if I could get a couple more hooked up. It was fun when they hit the hook and you knew the fight was on. The camera didn't really do justice for the size of the fish. They all seemed to be really small but that is just from the focus of the lens on the camera. I think that there was selective editing on this video for sure. I say that because it looks like you out fished your buddy about 10 - 1...lol I bet it was the other way around but you needed to make yourself look good for CZcams :-) I am going to have to try and get out somewhere that is easy for me and my walker to get to. Was this spot the place you told me about where you have the key for? I have never fished there if it is. Looks like an awesome spot for sure. Where was that first spot you stopped at along side of the road? It looked a little familiar but can't say for sure. Anyway take care and see you on your next adventure. Tom.

    • @Huntingpros
      @Huntingpros  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Tom! I find the GoPro with the fish eye lens almost always makes fish look smaller. At least that's my excuse anyway haha 😂. My buddy did catch quite a few, but some got missed on camera. This particular spot is open to the public. It's near Hubbards right off the side of the road. If you message my Facebook Page, I'll share the coordinates. It's a very accessible spot. It would require walking about 150 feet or so, but once you get down there, it is almost always non stop action. Plenty of squid too at night! Thanks for watching buddy 😃!

      youve been somewhat mis-informed mackerel are one of the slowest growing fish species in the sea, theyve been hammerd by commerical boats again this year and of particular worry was this years north atlantic shoal which had to operate at a reduced quota this year due to a population drop
