Many thanks Alex, not the best of 10 Day Trends, but I’m not sure it could be worse! Still, it’s not anyone’s fault and no one can change it, so it’s up to us all to make the best of it. It’s a shame it’s Wimbledon at the same time, but…! Thanks again Alex and to all the Met. Take care everyone 😊

The Met Office doesn’t seem to be saying much about this. I live in the North East of England and take a keen interest in the weather and can say with a fair degree of confidence that with exception of the odd spell of migratory high pressure systems, it’s been well over 12 months now since we have seen sustained and repetitive high pressures centred over North East England at least. Utterly depressing

Is he being ironic (sardonic?) when he says' little disappointing'
The endless weeks of cloud and temperatures 'peeking at 14/15C and night lows of 10C - and now coupled with the wind in last few days has cooled the house right down. Even though I'm wearing a fleece indoors I've still contemplated switching heating on today - which I've just done. I'm a householder 40 years now and I can't recall ever had to think about that in July. Locally I'm convinced this stacking up surely to be one of the top coolest summer of this and the last century - if not the worst.

Thanks, Alex. Pretty bleak outlook into July.
I live in west central Scotland and I'm currently building a small workshop in my garden. All I need is a three-day window where confidence is high that there will be no rain (and ambient temp is >5 degC), so that I can finish the roof. Literally months have gone by where ambient temp is OK but no chance of even a brief window of dry weather. I don't know how professional builders manage in this.
Are we currently experiencing part of a longer-term trend or cycle? I can remember not so long ago reflecting on periods during the Summer where we hadn't had rain for 6-7 weeks! Maybe _that_ was the unusual weather!

Cooler, Darker, Wetter, Windier!! This is going to be a year without summer I fear. British history is dotted with this occassional blighting of our summer, which is usuall caused by some major volcanic action, in this case, I dont see any. Must be that elephant in the room, Climate Change. In west Wales ther has been something like three decent days without the atlantic influence which could be called summer. Any hope of in the medium or long term for Warmer, Brighter, Drier and Less Windy and settled weather for west Wales? (we didnt really get the recent warm spell, save arguably one day) BTW Cardiff is not really representative for much of Wales as it is closer to Bristol and England than Aberystwyth for instance.

@@machandler70 Then how come the average temperature in England has hardly risen if at all in my lifetime, surely if C02 rising causes warming why does it not get warmer year on year, the other week they said it had been the hottest day somewhere since 1921 that means it was very nearly as hot over a hundred years ago, Britain once had a subtropical climate why? we have also been covered in ice, all these things have happened in the past, again why? we had no bearing on it why should now be any different, how do you know for certain we are not just on an upward trend that could last a hundred years or more and after that it could start cooling again just like it did BEFORE man even existed.

Thanks very much Alex, I have no complaints with the weather, it certainly is not the typical or average summer weather but at least we are alive. And thankfully some super volcano has not ended us all.
It is the climate trying very hard to balance itself out after us humans have caused the imbalance. We were told / warned about this in 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, etc. We now have to change with the climate and prepare for the worst and do not complain - do not moan - certainly do not act surprised about it. This is urgent. Our planet is dying. And nature bites back, very hard indeed. Thank you from Dublin😎👍
