The syn-clavier, Linn drum machine, Yamaha DX... Ahhh, the sounds of the 80s. Love this. Sounds like the first Elecktric band album. Just need Scott Henderson on guitar. What a great video. Hearing Chick play Giants Steps, awesome!
DX really did shape 80s music even though Roland company develop good synths, Yamaha was most successful in developing the FM synthesizers and still today many are using FM and purchasing old DX7s. LOL. Im one of those people. FULLTINES baby!!
Fantastic!!! Chick Corea is one of a few of the WORLDS Greatest living breathing Musicians. And music lovers with be talking about him 100, 200, 300 years from now. He is that good!
One of the most incredible heartful technique players there is alongside Oscar. :-) Perhaps one of the most incredible session bass players as well. Actually the Drummer and rhythm section is incredible. It's so important to be able to communicate in the language of music. Often that means being able to read it (at least partially) and to write it as fast as you can imagine it. Awesome to see such professionals at work. It reminds me of my parents. Brian Joseph Johns
23:25 Seems like Chick uses that time signature a lot. Referring to the Sorceress song though, it was probably used the best. It also resonates with Al DI Meola. In an interview where he kept saying "You know what I mean?" he actually points out to go along with the beats of the drums and uses that time signature as a key example as if he uses it a lot in his music.
Nah... it's been only a few years ago I got the DVD. It's still $39 at Colony in NYC. I just haven't adopted touch screen interface devices yet, and I haven't adopted downloading music either, I am old, and I still by CD's and DVD's.
yuck. Corea is a BRILLIANT pianist --- creative, with excellent touch and feel. This whole electric band period --- what can I say, I just can't dig it.
There's a joke where someone's goat dies & an angel comes down and offers to grant him a wish. The angel asks "you want your goat to come back to life?". He says "No, I want my neighbor's goat to die too." What I'm trying to say is, let's appreciate the fact that thnx to utube other people that could not afford the dvd can now enjoy this great master. Piracy and copyright laws should be reconsidered after all, in favor of the interests of the public & not of corporations (for a change!). Peace.
My right ear is loving it!
I used to have this on VHS: such an insightful look into Corea's work method. Rest in Forever Chick.
R.I.P Chick Corea ( 1941 - 2021 )
The '5 bar loop' starting at around 28:15. Never get tired of hearing that part.
Love his percussive approach to music.

I love the DXs, they literally shaped and guided 80's music
Luca Bosi I can have that my production

Damn, I paid $39 for this DVD (+tax) and now it's free on CZcams. Talking about piracy. Although the pirate must have a patch on the left ear.
Maybe this is all about marketing. Listen to the right channel for free. To listen to both, pay for the DVD.
Tom is amazing drummer. His level is just like weckl and colaiuta.☝️ Virtuos level.🥁
Hi,to me Tom has a real "feeling" he is number 1.Dave and Vinnie are more mechanical in such way.Greetings.
I think the most amazing thing about jazz piano players like Chick and Herbie for example is their interest on synthesizers....beautiful...
I love that they both have a serious percussive approach to piano!
love Chick Corea Keyboard workshop like cooked food stay blessed and fantastic!...
Ahah so Chick Corea used the phrase "spaceship" for synthesizer booth also.
My ear loved this.. So did I.. So will my keyboards..
Man, this was cool. I love the sound of the drum set.
Really like how Chick guided Tommy to go through the drum solo.
I’m with you on Flamenco music.
I bought this VHS when it was new! One thing piracy can't do is provide the slick transcription book that comes with the video!

The greatest musical genius of all time, in my opinion. NOTHING he can't do. Wish I could be Chick for a day, so I could know how that feels.

It's not juśt corporations that lose.. it's the artist .. do some work
Olé! Paco de Lucia was the best flamenco player, but Chick plays the guitar with his piano.
