To me, the latency issue one should be top of the list. Freezing groups and sandboxing are the next two big ones. Then having more available colored grouping options in the browser is next.

That’s one thing I’ve been wanting Fl to do for years is make their software screen reader friendly, but from what I’ve been told by their support team, FL is built in a way that screen readers can’t work with it. That alone makes me want to check Ableton out, but seems like a huge learning curve. Saying this cause I’m a completely blind producer and have been for the last eight years so the only way I can get work done efficiently is having someone remote connect to my computer and I walk them through what I need to do. This was a good breakdown.

@@Dmac_-xz6vdFL is absolutely a giant confusing mess. It has a lot of great features (in the piano roll mostly), but the UI/UX is cobbled together. It’s like they had this simple but limited initial workflow and then tried to cram as much into it as they could by any means necessary.
In order to get my launchpad mini to play notes, I had to mess with midi configuration and midi scripts and whatnot, whereas in logic, I had to literally do nothing. And then there’s all the messy channel routing to worry about. Coupled with the fact that the mac version crashed 3 times in the first 20 minutes of using it, I quickly crawled back to Logic.
I learned ableton a while back, got the hang of it instantly. But FL is just messy. And I fully concede that once you get the hang of it, it’s probably nice to use. Just a big initial hurdle to get over that dated UI

Useless, dude. Say you have a powerful desktop like me - incredibly powerful. I literally got bored trying to slow Live down with absurd amount of tracks including BBC Symphony And Abbey Road Symphony and the most notorious plug-in hog in the universe, Positive Grid Guitar Amp sim on 14 channels. Then, I raised the bit rate for no good reason to one whose differences no user could hear. No crashes. (144 tracks all those plugins, high sample rate and still CPU was in the 20% range).
Next I opened a set with just 15 tracks and one problematic plug-in. Crashed the program. And continues to. The plugin is having problems with core allocation, I'm told.
While I agree 100% that Ableton needs to work on stability before all else, the amount of things that can go wrong in software are - you don't want to know. But when you combine the integration of hardware AND software, the potential for stability issues are effectively endless. Unless you have an old, or terrible computer, I'm certain this is what you're facing.
Next time - buy your computer from a company that will give you a "do-over." That used to be Fry's - out of business. Otherwise your problems will not be over anytime soon.

If they add bounce in place and freeze groups a lot of people will be quiet .
Also freeze/flatten is not the same as bounce in place. I feel the reason they haven’t implemented it yet , considering it’s been requested for years is because they can’t. It must have something to do with the actual coding of the software or the engine that stops it from being a feature. I mean surely if it wasn’t that, they would have implemented it by now right?
Also freeze groups, this is just another easy win for them.
The truth is, the best way to hit Ableton and force them to start adding things the users want is very simple. DONT buy it! We talk with our wallets and that’s the only thing they will listen to 👍

      Wrong. I'm not saying it's something I don't want - I do.
It's about market differentiation. To cut a long, contentious story short, each DAW company wants to have things that set it apart from others. Either by inclusion OR omission.
Implementing lanes (Bitwig which I also own doesn't have lanes for MIDI btw, only audio) as Live did after 20 years - required far more coding than bounce in place would.
If you had a mid-level Ableton executive's ear and asked, "why no bounce in place," and they were drunk, LOL, they would give you a marketing based reason. Otherwise, Ableton is a pretty secretive company.

Remove silence has been a feature I’ve been wanting for a few years. It would be nice to set a threshold on volume and physically remove the empty spaces between loops clips, midi where there is no audio and or automation/notes. I think it would be helpful for visualizing where there is empty space in your arrangement/playlist and being able to fill those spaces with more earcandy or know how far you can move a sound from its original position on the grid. A second positive would be aesthetic since it looks aesthetically pleasing to not have giant blocks on your screen.

Beyond sandboxing Bitwig also supports total key customization. Want Bitwig to behave like Pro Tools? No problem. Ableton's cool though. Most of the production tutorial content on youtube is for Ableton. I would be tempted to switch just for that reason alone but, I'm too stubborn. And I guess there is very little to no time at all to do a DAW switch.

Something Studio One has had since version 3:
    1. Selecting a track with a VSTi on it, and then playing a MIDI file from the browser which will actually use the VSTi as the output source instead of the irritating General MIDI sounds we have had in Ableton since the beginning. This would expedite song creation immensely.
    2. Auto-routing of stereo output plugins.
    3. The ability to show thumbnails of your plugins instead of the neverending list of plugins in the browser.
If I think of any more, I'll mention them later,.

Yeah I'd really REALLY want plugin sandboxing nothings more painful than an entire project just farting full send gastritis when it could just be a little toot. Freezing groups would be epic. Bounce in place, would be helpful but I've done the latter of copy/freeze/flatten/resample.
But an original cool idea would be an in house metaplugin/oversampler post synth. Maybe DDMF team are Jedi's and it's hard to implement. I will say Ableton's SRC is quite good and ISP appearance post limiter is not terrible as well. So I'm wondering if they are able to create an in house plugin to oversample 3rd party plugs. It does make a difference when stacking a huge mix with lots of heavy top end synth stuff. But working in 96k alleviates that.
    Anyhow..
Also a thought, I've noticed in DAW's like Reaper and the capability to utilize the CPU and handle heavier plugins, is easier to manage with lower buffer sizes and higher plugin count, allowing me to put a significant amount of heavier plugins like, say, Acustica (just as an example) on a single channel.
    Following that,
I will say that the Interface used does make a difference in handling high polyphony, heavy handed processing plugins, in a large project, and how well the drivers are written by said manufacturer, relieving the stress of the DAW from glitching and crashing.
With that said, when I went from 10 to 11 the crashing problem became significantly worse. It's like the added features was a setback in terms of opening and even playing back existing projects, forcing me to upgrade my computer.
Call it poor workflow, but if I want to work how I work, why should an updated daw be my compromise when I didn't have issues before?
TLDR; plugin sandboxing is a must have for me!
All these extra features, IDK i barely scratched the surface of the 11's features..
Too many ingredients for the sandwich making it unappetizing to eat.

Other 2 improvements: In drum rack, Copy to siblings for every parameter and the possibility to automate every parameter in midi and audio clips (the fact that you can't automate the transform knob in Live 12 it's pretty ridiculous imho) like the detune parameter for example. you can automate the transpose but not the fine detuning.

Channel’s output level matched to the input level. This should be in EVERY DAW in fcking 2023.

As a sound designer I miss a huge amount of functions:
    The ones you listed
    +
A stable video support. Most of the sound design is usually made for videos. So while Ableton Live is seeing itself as the most creative daw a lot of us have to create a pack of sounds, and go somewhere like Studio One or Nuendo to actually mix them for video.
AAF support or at least the new universal daw files from Betwig and Presonus
Ability to use multiple sample editing softwares. Cuz I use RX and melodyne, so have switch them all the time (I got tired of that, so I use them stand-alone now)
A better velocity editor: make it more flexible.... Ability to pull multiple notes' velocities etc.
Ability to see all the added plugins in mixer mode. So you could easily pull them from one track/group to another
    Polywave file support
    Dolby Atmos
Some of those functions will kill the simplicity of Ableton interface, but those tool should b able to hide when not needed

@@tracewidthIf they make it an optional paid addon I'm good with them adding it, then I won't have to pay extra for licensing some spacial junk I don't give a crap about. :)

"Ability to pull multiple notes' velocities" just select several notes and you can edit their velocity as a group

On my laptop, Ableton takes over three minutes to load on startup. It also crashes if I accidentally unplug my headphones, which you do a lot on a laptop. I switched to bitwig, which starts in about fifteen seconds on the same computer. It doesn't crash if I unplug my headphones, switch interfaces, or breathe on it wrong. The backbone of Ableton's engine is stuck in 2002. Its search engine and library are stuck in 2002. Its latency issues are stuck in 2002. For $1000 bucks a copy, you'd think they'd make updates that jump out of the computer, shine your shoes, and give you a back massage.

    I tell ya what’s WROMG ABLETON 12:
It’s Ableton. The Motto: Make it be cool. Does it bother us that it’s soul-less? Fuk no!”
I asked H.Zimmer if he’d like to give it a twirl. He said, “I’m a musician; what the Fuk you takin’ bout??
