Light shore jigging - Red Porgy on Duo Drag Metal Cast jigs

A nice day spent on fishing, nothing bigger hits the jigs but at least I manage to catch two Red Porgy on Duo Drag Metal Cast jigs..
First one was caugth on Duo Drag Metal Cast SSZ 20g jig and amazing color Sparkling Pink Candy
Second one hits a half hour after on Duo Drag Metal Cast slow 15g jig in amazing decor Rainbow... Second one was followed by 2 big amberjacks I hope that you can see them on video..

Great video! A question about how you operate these kind of lures. Do you let them sink all the way down and then start the jigging moves? Or you start retrieving after you achieve a certain depth but not hit rock bottom?

Thanks a lot! You can use either way you asked. Sometimes i let it sink to the bottom and then jig it slowly few meters and then again let it sink it to the bottom and jig slowly.. but this technique is good when you know terrain it is not good when it is rock bottom you will lose them all the times.. Second way is to let it sink to certain depth and then retrieve it slowly with few twitch between retrieval. You can retrieve it fast or medium fast or slow...

Hello Moonlight fishing family,
Im looking to buy a shore jigging rod and want to ask your guidance through 2 questions,
I usually throw max weight on my rods (40 gram max rod with 35-40gram jigs) metal jigs ... It gets heavy when there is high currents underwater but usually the lighter weighted rod is more comfortable when fishing for 8-12 hours 3or4 days a week 😅.
I am planning to cast a 20-60grams fast or slow jigs usually targeting King/Spanish Mackerel and looking to fast jig more 60 gram jigs for those 10+kg Mackerels.
Should I buy a max 60gram fast shore jigging rod ?
What is the ideal jig size, I currently cast 60 grams fast jig and it takes 8 to 15 seconds till it hits the ground in high current, should I go with lighter jigs ?

Hello my friend,
if you want to catch bigger fish you will need to cast bigger bait.. I thing 40-60 grams is more then enough to catch very nice fish.. I would suggest to put some jigging assist hooks on front and to remove treble hook on back..
Regarding the rod, you can buy Savage Gear SGS2 Shore Jigging rod that have fast action and it is very strong rod.. also it is not too expensive.
