- On April 15, 2010 Xbox Live for original Xbox Live games will be discontinued. I discuss the future of these games and take a look back at one of them. Also, in section 2, I take a look at the Original Xbox Dashboard and one of my favorites, MotoGP.

This video will forever be a relic for those that will never get to experience original Xbox live or for people that want to remember the days of playing Rainbow Six 3 and Halo 2 online. NEVER take this video down!!
***** It was a lot like the old 360 days. A lot of gaming communities centered on specific games like halo custom games. every one had a mic and it's was so easy to make friends since every one was social (upset there where a lot of assholes too). I don't think we'll ever get gaming communities like this any more.

Never knew until today that he had passed. A real shame. I remember watching this video when I was young because I'd never seen the original Xbox Live dashboard, and only later found out he was also part of the Steel Battalion community which I am a part of now. Xbox Live is back with Insignia, and Steel Battalion has been kicking with Xlink Kai for some time now. Rest in Peace Ryan, your influence has greatly effected so many people.

When Steve Jobs died, Apple started turning their UIs into minimalistic metro instead of the charming worktable design Steve envisioned. Because of the Xbox changes to the UI they decided to do it with Windows 8/10.

Good to find this video and to see how much people enjoyed Motogp. Still remember working late into the night making this game with my colleagues :)

You can still play online on original xbox by using xlink kai and system link. It also has voice chat too
@@jayrolling2003 i know. But still is not the best. Prefer online functionality add friends there so its also easier for local friends. Xlink is to complicated. But sometimes i play on it

@@gabrielpoupou1479 We were blown away by how good people were at the game. We set the original times as we'd obviously played it a lot but I think within a couple of days people had beaten it. It was aslo a privalge to be the first game to use Xbox live, guess we're part of history now :) My friend Justin made that Mugello track. I made Jerez, Donnignton, Estoril I can't remember the others :) Also made the video that plays at the beginning of the game. The were good times, especially vising all the different countries for reference. The end credits were fun to make too!
I miss that dashboard with its sounds and playing halo combat evolved and halo 2 countless times while repeating the campaign over and over :, ) brings back memories

Elfish Coder The only reason i used to call it xbox one was when 360 came out. Because it was easier to describe it as "one" when 360 csme out, because some people dident understand. And still so today by people that are not that familiar with gaming.
Now today i just call ot xbox original.

Here's an idea: for those who want to keep playing original xbox on xbox live. Once MS has discontinued the online service for original xbox, get your console modded so that when someone sets up a server not under MS control, you'll be able to play original xbox games online again. That would be something.

I never go to play on Xbox Live for a few reasons. When I got it, I was about 7, so I had no idea what XBL, was, and when I did find out, I realized that my parents weren't going to buy me an $80 kit for it. Also, we had dial up back then, which made it pretty much impossible to go online. By the time I was older and understood more about computers, and got DSL, it was already discontinued. ):
But it was a pretty good system. Wish I still had mine.
I'm in the same boat as you. I had played so many different games from Republic Commando, Fuzion Frenzy, Halo, Unreal Championship, and quite a few others! I grew up on nothing but campaign. Never got XBL till 2007 on the 360. Still have a few games from my original Xbox.

I know, u noticed that too? I think because back then Xbox live was much harder to get going .. you needed to be smarter and grown up.. for an example, original xbox didn't have Wifi so you had to buy a router and set that shit up all on your own with an Ethernet cable and such... at the time 5 year olds weren't smart enough to do that.. now with WiFi all a 5 year old needs is an email to make an xbox account and they're done... no smartness required..

Edit: They hope it will actually be this year since it'll be 20 years of Xbox Live. The Insignia devs and Luke Usher ran into some setbacks.

Now this is a true gamer.. Recalling good memories with your Xbox just a few months before they pulled the plug on Live. I do not have an Xbox, but I know I would do just that with my PSOne and PS2... I Salute you! =)
I never got to use the original Xbox with LIVE. I got mine at launch, but we couldn't afford broadband internet service until 2006, and by then I had a 360. Even so, I didn't sign up for LIVE until November 2010, 7 months after original Xbox LIVE support was dismissed.
Never got to play Halo 2 online :(

Watching you play GP really brings me back. My friends and I all had live accounts and would play moto GP for hours and hours back in 2002. We had lots of fun with this game. That was my favorite track as well. I never bought the full version so I was limited in what my bike could do, but I remember I managed to get a really good time. My best friend who I used to play this with has since passed away, so watching this brought back a lot of good memories. Thank you.

Seeing footage of the original Xbox and original Xbox games is always kinda fascinating to me. It's a console I never owned back in the day (only had PS2 and GameCube) and I always turned off by it for no good reason haha. I hope to one day own one just for the novelty of it. Maybe even play some games on it.
I bought an Xbox a few years back after being so fascinated by it, It’s now my favorite game console of all time. Absolute masterpiece of a console.
Who’s here after hearing about Insignia Live?
The one thing I do remember is getting the original Xbox and a copy of the first Halo with my older brother not long after it had come out. That and also playing a demo of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
I didn’t even know there was live back then, so many memories I probably missed out on 😢
I had an original xbox during the early to mid 2000s, but back then I absolutely had no idea what online gaming was and I didn't even that online gaming existed until I picked up the PS3 in early 2008 and didn't find out about xbox live 1.0 until after I heard the news that It got shut down in 2010.
But man..... I sure did miss out BIG TIME by not trying out Xbox Live 1.0 back then (We even had internet), if I had known online gaming existed back in the mid 2000s I definitely would've experienced Xbox Live 1.0, It just sucks to think that I've actually missed every opportunity to hook up my original xbox to the ethernet cord to discover online gaming, I even had a lot of original xbox games that had online features and I could've had a blast playing those games online back then lol.
So funny story about me discovering online gaming in 2008..... I actually discovered it by accident by randomly joining an online Team Deathmatch lobby in Call of Duty 4 thinking I was going against bots lmao. I remember raging and yelling "Why are these bots too hard to fight???!!!? Why are they moving too fast?!?!?!" and then my older bother replied to me saying "Those are not bots, your literally playing with real people online!" , and I was literally so confused when he told me that, so he had to explain to me what online gaming was lmao.

When I was around 7-8 years old, I wanted Xbox live so badly. My parents bought me the “kit” for Christmas the year after I got my Xbox. I remember the heartbreak when I found out it wouldn’t work because we lived in the country and couldn’t get high speed internet....
Wish some hackers made an private xbox live server and hacked the shit out of it to make private servers work for it. To bad it doesnt... :( maybe in the future. Lets hope some geeks work on it someday...

if you never tried old xbox live, you missed out on an experience. Gaming, for some reason, felt more passionate and social back then. There were constant social events online in games through custom games. Everyone talked, especially in game, and team work communication was rampant. god damn good times.
I never had an xbox and I didnt get xbox live for the 360 until 2011 or 12 but to me this is kinda heartbreaking

Hey man, I sure do appreciate you making this video. Now that a lot of the older gaming services are shut down it’s cool we can archive the history of these consoles so that people in the future know how important and awesome these consoles were for the time, and how many memories were made on it.

Hey man thanks for uploading this I was really young when I played original live but there’s a project out there called insignia and it’s a replacement for original Xbox live so you’ll be able to play original Xbox online again but still in work in progress but I thought I should tell you if you ever wanted to Play original Xbox again.

I wish you had showed the top of leaderboard. I was the main hacker for this game. Yet their were glitches on some tracks. I was able to dump the save game files and modified some bytes to create my super bikes. Then I moved on to modify temp/cache files on the actual original Xbox hard disk . Using these temp files I could modify tracks while still being in a live match. Miss these good ole days. - KD4YAL

My first ORIGINAL XBOX game was HALO CE and my first XBOX Live game was CRIMSON SKIES-HIGH ROAD TO REVENGE...once HALO 2 came out, I rarely played CRIMSON SKIES online anymore. I went online 6 months later and CRIMSON SKIES was a virtual ghost town. It was a great game to play, but HALO 2 will always be the best ORIGINAL XBOX LIVE G.O.A.T. It was that popular, as you could always find a game anytime of the day or night. I remember as much as 550,000+ players online when it first came out. Those were the days. Those were the best days of online gaming. Players used to talk to each through the MIC, and even a little trash talk now and then. I miss those days so much.😑

The 'built in' friends/clan/recent players system that halo 2 had is still the best system I have seen in a console game.
