    "focus on 1 product" is a great advice. Just like food industry, there's many starting brand that try to have many variation but excel at none, making their business at most mediocre. It's good to have many option for the customer, but having a "specialties" is what makes your business special

  • @edenassos
    @edenassos Před 3 lety +6

    I run fashion businesses in Japan and I use the pre-order trick whenever I start a new label. It's the single most effective strategy. You do have to make sure your pieces make a statement, and with my 3D software background, I don't even need sample pieces, I can make the pieces in 3D, and also use those for my marketing. Lots of money saved.

    Thanks for the education dude :) I remember you mentioned investing the time and learning to sew your own samples in another video and I took that advise. It saves me so much money; especially on a budget. I started documenting this process on my channel - absolute plug to my yt. I take your advice and other's and make videos about going through this process - from my pov as a one woman team. I'm learning so much. Thanks bruv 🖖🏾

    The industry is forever changing, for the good and bad. Especially outsourcing
    From China and other countries effected by the current situation makes it difficult

    When I started my brand I started looking at fashion completely different when I see pieces at the store. You see the same tags or same logos used repetitively because of screen costs. If I could give any advice for a start up brand I’d say make a powerful, unique product you can stand up and for 3x down on marketing: the marketing is everything.

    thanks for this content. I have worked as a Fashion Designer for various Brands (Big and Small) and started my first label about 2 years ago. I can honestly confirm from personal experience that all your advices are good, especially not making shit loads of designs when you are just starting your label, but rather making a couple of designs (or even one to start with) and get your all systems running from there. Again amazing content thanks a lot!

    Great advice as always Reggie. Been doing almost everything you mentioned. I will open my website for preorders and use most of my budget for marketing. I'm working with an agency in Italy to help me manufacture my samples. It’s a bit more expensive but the communication is better and easier. Also using the best, most sustainable fabrics you can get, also made in Italy. I want to make “luxury” fashion/streetwear more sustainable and affordable for a larger, younger target group. More and more kids are getting into luxury clothing and are willing to spend a bit more for longer lasting items. Especially in Germany where I’m based, the market screams for what I will be offering. The fashion community is growing like crazy over here.

Now waiting for manufacturer to reply..try to cut down the cost as much as possible.😆😆..But for people who are not aiming to release cut and sew pieces, and want to do t-shirt, sweater and etc, I think starting with print on demand is a good way to start as it can let you control your cost better!

  • @MiauxCatterie
    @MiauxCatterie Před 4 lety +4

    great series, i'm learning a lot. working on getting my art on clothes and i was going to go the print on demand sublimation route. i like the concept, bc it's a bit hands off and lets me work on my life and travel and art while things sell, instead of being mired in the daily grind of it. and sublimation itself is such an eco friendly way to print, and less wasteful than wet dye or cut and sew is. but.. all the companies that do it big in the states aren't up to my standards for clothing, or for business. it's hard as hell finding smaller companies that do the same thing with all-over-print sublimation. and those that do aren't really also going to be handling the distro side for you. so i'm looking into the traditional ways now, trying to educate myself there and see if i can find a balance somewhere. i don't want to sew it all myself. i don't want to man a storefront myself. i want to sell online, let people buy while i'm off hiking nature, and maybe bring some inventory to a festival or street fair here and there to get my in-person fix. i want the freedom to keep making more art, that's why i'm starting a business in the first place- for the freedom it can bring me. my last job was in manufacturing for a small company and they wanted to do every single thing themselves, which meant they were trapping themselves in the daily grind, and i just don't see why i should do that. as i grow i can set up my own production, sure, that mans itself. but in the meantime..
    anyway, thanks for the videos, i really appreciate the service you provide to us even when we can't afford the next level education.

I know some platform algorithms make it impossible for organic growth with out paying for ads . What platform do you see making an impact in small business /brands.
