  • The Tennison Gambit is a bold opening strategy in chess, primarily employed in response to the Sicilian Defense. It involves sacrificing a pawn early on to gain rapid development and aggressive control of the center. Named after the American chess player Philip Tennison, who popularized it in the 19th century, this gambit aims to disrupt Black's usual plans and create dynamic, imbalanced positions favoring White's attacking chances. While risky, the Tennison Gambit can catch opponents off guard and lead to exciting, tactical battles on the board.
