@@PeersPodcast his pistons job hasn’t looked too promising, but he is a known good developer and winner. With the raptors do you realize the players that came out of his system recently he’s a good coach for sure lol.. Vanvleet; poetl, siakam, anunoby, normal powell, none of these guys were drafted high lol

I totally respect and appreciate the honesty when Monty said it was about the 💵💵💵 in large part why he took the job. It irks me when an athlete or coach says it's never about the 💵💵💵 when obviously it is so his candor there was truly a breath of fresh air. 💯
It shows he likely isn't going to be blowing smoke up players asses and is going to tell it like it is which is good.

From one of the MANY fans of Monty in PHX, our loss is DETROIT'S gain... Monty is not only one of if not the best coach in the NBA, more importantly he is a great man and leader of young men! Monty, these trials in life as you know help shape all of us. You are a good man and coach, it was wrong of PHX to let you go, but the Lord will continue to bless you and your family..stay strong and walk the walk as the Lord walks beside you. It's obvious that the Lord placed you in Detroit to guide other young men on the right path in life. God bless you and your family. ✝️🙏

@@derwingaston1820 He pauses a lot and uses fillers such as ums frequently but you're right, I think that is still burdening his mind. But I think once Monty steps front and starts showing promise from the team and roster, then that will go away.
Pistons got a good one. Monty is a great coach for a young team that needs direction.
Idk. We'll see. The way the relationship soured with Ayton and Jae Crowder, then seeing how Mikal Bridges game exploded in Brooklyn, I'm concerned we could see some similar issues with underutilized talent in Detroit.

Im thinking Bojan is at home in his country enjoying spending time with his family, but also im thinking Bojan might be getting traded. I like Monty Williams already. His answers seemed earnest and straightforward and the fact that 99.9% of the current Pistons roster showed up during vacation time for a 17 win team for a new coach press conference says a lot. Looking forward to the draft, summer league, pre season and regular season.
He may be apart of a trade but I’m sure the main reason is he’s not in the states
Early detection is everything when it comes to breast cancer. In January, 2017, my wife had a mass on her breast that was visible to the naked eye and having worked in the medical field I shouldve known yet we didnt seek medical attention until March. When the biopsy returned with a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis we knew that our life as we knew it was over. She was gone by 2021.
Again early detection is everything.
When you lose your high school sweetheart after 25 years together its extremely difficult to get the train back on the tracks.

Troy is so interesting. Dude seems to basically thug other teams in trades and pretty clearly has solid evaluation skills, yet is not the greatest speaking in front of a crowd. Truly silent but deadly

Does anyone notice the awkwardness of this press conference? There is obvious tension between Troy and Tom. I wish Monty well, but I don't know how he can focus on fixing this team while walking along his wife through cancer.
Gores is desperate and this move is an obvious hail Mary response to frustrated fans. I hope this ends well for our team.

@kennethgray2510 you right I believe Tom wanted Monty and Troy wanted probably Kevin Ollie. I can definitely tell they had different guys in mind. Remember reports came out Tom didn't like any of the finalist Troy had between Kevin, Jarred Collins or Charles Lee.
Troy and Tom don't talk to the press much and I think that's by design.

We'll see. I actually wish Casey would've kept coaching. I'm not as sold on Williams and his ability to fully utilize the talent around him. Not to mention having multiple players visiby/vocally feeling underutilized in his system.

@@ltellis036 It seems that way, but it doesn't add up. Monty said the that Troy contacted him when Phoenix fired him. There's another video from this presser where Monty mentions that a few days before he took the job, that Troy was sending him photos of the whole team working out and practicing here in early June. That enticed Monty even more to take the job. Obviously for the money, but to see the hunger in this group. I mean if Troy wasn't in on Monty like Gores was, why would Troy be doing these little things to entice him? I think people are making something out of nothing, tbh.

Troy's hesitation to continue pursuing Monty was not because he did not like him (he was the first to contact Monty when he got fired!) but because he learned about Monty's wife being sick with cancer. That was the conflict between him and Gores.

My best analogy of what happened to the Pistons is Gores let Weaver select the ingredients, but not the recipe, and we’re left with a repulsive dish and everyone is pointing fingers about who to blame.
So it might be me and I would like a guess there was good reason, but man when Monty talked about the team being there except Bojan it kinda focused on. "why isn't he here"
My understanding is is just he doesn't live in the country

Time for the Pistons to get back to playing championship defense.
I sense a lot of determination and anger in this presser; but anger channeled in a righteous way. We know what the League did to us at the very last moment in this recent draft. Troy is angry, and the entire Management are angry. Last 3 seasons felt like 6. Coach Monty and Stephen got thrown off the boat by their previous Organisations; they're angry too. Believe me, an angry Detroit Pistons is bad news for the league but good for all for us. We Mean Business!!

I thought for sure that they were going to hire Mark Jackson or at least Frank Vogel. Monty got the W’s but no rings to show for it. His Sun’s choked when it counted every time. He led them to the finals one time with a injured beat up league and lost. And he didn’t show me that he knows how to use his bigs looking at his relationship with Ayton and Pistons having such a big team that would’ve scared me in another direction on its own fr But I hope I’m wrong and it works🤷♂️

Really starting to not like Troy. Stevie and Brad certainly have him beat imo. Scott Harris hasn't had enough time. Monty seems legit though, I'm glad he wasn't afraid to mention the $$$$ as a part of his coming to Detroit. That's some real shit. Hopefully he can get the boys to their top tire and 'Ummm Weaver' helps him the best he can. Getting some vibes though that maybe Tom doesn't let Weaver make moves on his own and unless the owner is a true sports head doesn't always work well.
