4 Useful Accessories for Every Drill Press

- Recently I got a new Drill Press and took the time to make it even better with a few and simple upgrades!
Big thanks to Scheppach for sponsoring this week's video! Visit their site for more information on the tools I used at www.scheppach.com/
Probably the most important jig for me is the plywood table with a sacrificial insert. This helps by supporting bigger pieces and the sacrificial part minimizes the blowout. It can be removed quickly when you need to drill into metal.
-
The second one is a Digital readout to get precise hole depths. Although the drill press has a depth stop this simple readout helps when you need that extra bit of precision. I just used a cheap digital caliper and a bit of aluminum.
-
The third one is a Drillbit storage arm for my most used bits. You just need a bit of plywood, a small piece of aluminum a few screws and the matching size muffler clamp.
-
The Fourth is probably the simplest one, It just uses a Flexible drain hose( used for sinks) and a hose clamp. Just pick the right drain hose that fits your shop vac the closest in diameter so you can plug it into it.
I hope you like the video. Thank you very much for watching!

Awesome Video!!! The sound effects are hilariously on point! Made me a subscriber from just that. And great additions to the drill press
Thank you very much Brett!
Of all the things I have built over time to be more efficient I have never thought of doing these things for my drill press. Thanks for sharing and now time for me to implement!!
Jessie Shehane Thanks for watching!
love it. very convenient and I really like that you're not going for the most expensive tools around but rather start with ones that everyone can afford. Subscribed.
Thanks Philipp!
Those are brilliant! The digital calipers was a fantastic idea... wish I thought of that one. :) Great job, man!
Thanks Drew!
These were all useful, but turning a digital calipers into a DRO was brilliant.
Love your bird, water, wind noises inserted to replace the screeches and grunts of real tooling. Thank you,
I really am pleased that someone can copy your steps with low end tools, a lot of us can't afford high-end tools like lathes, plainer … etc., and hopefully have the same outcome you have, great job.
Thank you very much Howard!
I like it! I’ve already fitted a digital depth gauge but your drill bit holder and dust collection is a great setup. Thank you for sharing 👍😎🇦🇺
Cheers John!
Love the drain pipe for vacuum hose, I'm definitely gonna do that in my shop for my milling machine
GET !! CHIPS !! STUCK !! IN !! THE !! PIPE !!!! EXCELLENT !! THAT !! TOO !!!
Cool idea.... I love the drill bit holder and the dust collection was great. Good job Sebastian, thanks for sharing.
Really great ideas and very clever implementation. Love the bit holder and dust collection. Your method of placing the caliper is far superior than other methods I've seen here on YT. Great video. Thanks for the inspiration.
Glad you liked it!
All of these are great ideas! DRO and dust collection are my favorite. Thanks for sharing!
Very good project !!! Thank’s for sharing Ollari’s
Sebastian, you’ve read my mind I think hehe. I was just thinking of doing some upgrades to my drill press. Thanks for giving me a few extra ideas!
Happy to help! 😊
Depth gauge/DRO is a great idea - too good to pass up - I'm going to have a go too!
Love the sounds effects!
Thank you!
By the looks of it much like yourself I use my drill press for woodwork and metalwork and your designs are spot on. Though I’m not as proficient as you in either. I especially like your table and depth gauge, I was bought a morticing attachment for Christmas and it’s a pain taking the guard off to use it, my depth gauge is attached to it (The morticing attachment from Axminster is much better than expected).
My table needs to be easily removable like yours as I have disabilities and a lot of designs require fettling nuts and bolts under the table. This is very difficult for me, even with my x y vice. So from me you get a massive thank you and a subscribe.
Love the birdies. Great ideas. Thanks.
Cool ideas, I really like the caliper DRO and dust collector.
I especially liked the drill bit holder and digital depth gauge. Table was nice too!
Thanks a lot!
Such a cool video with some great ideas. The sound effects are just the cherry on top. Keep up the good work!
Great ideas. I'm using them. Thanks for sharing.
Flowing water & birds instead of router noise may be the greatest thing I've heard this year.
Thanks David!
This is a great tip video. I want to make a similar tray for my drill bits but was have a hard time finding a way to attach it. And I have a lot of aluminum in my scrap metal-bin that I've been saving for something like this. Thanks!!
Thanks a lot! I’m glad you like it!
Awesome ideas! Love the digital depth gage! 👏
Thank you!
Very cool, brilliant, and useful all in one. I have a small garage that I'm using for car repairs, knife making, wood work, and welding (carefully). This is one of the videos that I'm definitely saving because I need to do these. Thanks.
Thanks! Yup, it’s difficult to set up a space that you can do all of those different things.
Excellent modifications - additions ! Brilliant ideas as always !
Thanks!
Like this setup, very creative!! Thanks so much!!
Love the sound effects, very interesting!
I love that you edited the sound. So nice instead of loud machine noise.
Thanks Dennis! Glad you like it!
Best on YT for sure!
I love the sound inserts, they are amazingly funny!
Just watched this video - great idea for the insert in the drill area... And loved the sound effects!
so I've been watching a lot of these drill press table builds lately, planning to make my own soon, and I've been thinking "why doesn't anyone make a circular sacrificial plate?" ... and there you are having made just that. It just makes sense.
Nicely done!
It's great in theory, but I can make 20 square sacrificial plates in 2 minutes.
But i don’t have to make any. Just turn it a few degrees and you got a fresh place. Takes about 2seconds.
Man that some powerfull Nivea cream. Never seen before.. Amazing build and update for the drill press!.
Great upgrades. I have been back and forth about a drawer for my router bits, but I'm liking your swivel caddy idea much better. Caliper things gauge was cool too. Have to look at my press again to see if I can do it. My Harbor Freight depth stop doesn't work very well.
1:30 almost spat my coffee out. Was not expecting this. What I WAS expecting, was the standard ftshhhh-thwack of a nail gun. Not starship phasers. Love it
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
Bravo, thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the sound effects.
Thanks Jared!
Very nice ideas and very nice accessories as well! Id love to have those on my drill press too (Y)
Great video and awesome features for a drill press! Gonna incorporate all into mine now. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Thanks Jeff!
Brilliant, the sound replacement i loved it
Bellissime le prime 2 idee. Complimenti come sempre

Great ideas! Might copy a couple for my drill press, specially the dust collection! Thanks :)
Thank you!
Great project..thanks please do more.
Sebastian these are pretty damn cool man. Thanks, I will be adding these to mine as well!!
Thanks a lot Larry!
Great ideas and video editing. I especially liked the Diresta shout out. Nice work!
Great engineering and out of the box thinking! Wow!
Thanks Garry!
Thanks for sharing that
Great additions and ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Gary!
Awesome, will definitely be lending some ideas to use in my workshop. Especially drill bit holder!
Thanks a lot Robert! It’s definitely better than having a all in one drawer 😅
@@Ollaris Mine's all mixed in a plastic bin on the shelve and mainly working with steel I still wear gloves, will not say what a pain it is to get them out there! Great video again, keep up the great work!
Dear Ollari, if you get yourself a negative rake blade your cutting of aluminium will become a dream as you cut it like butter and with smooth edges. Thanks for sharing your ideas on upgrading a drill press to make it more useful. Cheers.
That wold be great. And also a flat tooth blade for cutting rabets. But sadly i can’t buy anything else than the regular ones in my country.
Amazing. The. Shots...the editing and the sound are just incredible. Thank you
Thanks Joe!
Very nicely done, great job mate. 👍
Great job. Thanks for sharing! Your attention to details is quite inspiring.
Thanks Jose!
fantastic !
Excellent add-ons
Nicely done.
All great accessories, awesome work Sebastian! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you Fred!
This is why I like your channel. You are very creative which inspires me to be more creative with my builds. Thank you for that! We think alike. I just received the same flexible hose in chrome for this exact purpose but was trying to think of an easy way to attach it to the pillar of my drill press. I love the use of inexpensive aluminum that you can manipulate into whatever shape you want. I had thought to use a U-bolt but thought of maybe using hardwood to attach the tray but I like your idea of using the aluminum better. Clever!!
Thank you very much! Great minds think alike! ;)
These little Innovations are cutting edge. You might even call them cleaver.
Hahahahaha! 😅
I believe I remember reading Nostradamus predicting a man of such wisdom would eventually grace the woodworking community. Is it true sir that you invented NASA? I humbly bow in your presents! Amazing work.
Hahahahaha! Thanks a lot Greg!
Love the depth gauge!!! 👍
Thanks Rick!
This was a very good video. Great ideas - Thanks
Great ideas. I have done most of these to mine as well (not the dust collection though). The one thing I added to mine was a fence. It makes drilling repeated holes in multiple parts a breeze.
Thanks! I had a fence on my old drill press table but i hardly every used it. It's pretty simple to set one up if someone does a lot of repetitive drilling.
Great video!
Awesome idea with drill press tool holder. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Rich!
VERY cool stuff.... Thanks
Thanks!
Great stuff
You sir are a great craftsman, I love all your wood working video
Very nice!
Very clever upgrades that my drill press needs :)
Thanks Steve!
J'adore le son de vos machines. 😍

Thanks Jared!
I really like to Trey you made for the different drill bits and the vacuum attachment was cool too
Thanks!
That’s definitely handy drill press accessories!

Thanks for sharing! Nice video from a ...perfectionist! Nicely built. Loved the sounds(!!!) but above all the eraser detail on the drill-bit tray!!! Reeeeeally sick!!! Hahahaa!!
Keep up the good work mate!
Thank you very much Yorgos!
Holy Mother of God I really laughed at the pew pew sounds frop the nailer, best diy videos yet
Nice sounds. Merry Christmas
Great job, very creative.
very beautiful...thankx for sharing :O)
Same drill press as me. Liked this very much.
sounds was awesome :))))
The dust collection with a flex drain hose is a capitol idea. Adding the till for the drill bits is also good but I’m wondering about having the business end of the bits pointed up. Especially those Forsner bits.
Very nice, subscribed!
Thank you!
Perfect Upgrades. Well done. Thanks for sharing. ;-)
Thank you!
Every time I watch videos like this, there is always something I don't completely agree with or would do differently, but I have to admit, only thing I'll do different, is get tools that sounds like the real thing, so my wife can hear I'm working.😁
Nicely done, from South Africa 🇿🇦
Hahahahaha! Thanks Marius!
Du hast echt immer mega geile Ideen und setzt die dann auch super um! Bin sehr angetan!
Dankeschön Michael!
Thanks for sharing your video. I enjoyed watching. Take care and God Bless.
