Are you ready to remove that builder grade fireplace mantle and surround?
*It would be irresponsible for me not to first mention that you do want to make sure whatever you’re replacing it with follows any local fire or building codes because after all, this is a fireplace that we’re talking about.
This is one of the most common upgrades I am asked about when people first purchase a new home. Anything builder grade is typically done to serve a purpose of both time and money savings. It lacks character and is one of the easier removals so don’t be afraid of this one.
Quick review of a few things.
1️⃣ check your codes to make sure you’re in compliance with anything you replace it with.
2️⃣ make sure your blade is very sharp when you are scoring the surround and mantle so that you’re doing minimal damage to the drywall.
3️⃣ remove it carefully when possible because people will pay for these. Whether they are using it for renovation, or a rental property, or whatever, make yourself 100 bucks on it.
