Fatherless Amachi moved from her native village in Chenji in Tamil Nadu to Chennai with her mother & sister, unable to bear the torture of her greedy relatives. She had been a TB patient as a young girl and continued to live with the disease in Chennai too.
The agony of her sickness pushed her into thinking that living in this world is useless but was eager to meet a God who would speak to her. When a Christian evangelist handed over a track, she challenged him if his God could speak to her. That night Amachi had a vision of Jesus Christ crucified to the cross who spoke to her.
