Just finished Hollow Ataraxia, played it right after Fate/ Stay night, both fatastic games and the ending was beautiful. Farewell Avenger, you've become one of my all time favourite characters... Now on to Tsukihime!

Sheesh, this one and previous two tracks, they're without a doubt special. Cheerful as heck with a tinge of sadness and departure. In the end, I feel like the characters that fail to meet the shallow expectations were the best, mostly Archer and Avenger, with Assassin (Fake) coming up close. It only makes me wonder what did Avenger wanted to avenge, where the only bad things about him are first impressions and his behavior that slights the humanity's evil.
This song and the different version used in Fate/Extra CCC in the True End give off some very strong emotional feelings, mostly happiness that came at a great cost. In Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, Bazett becomes "free" in a way but she loses her servant who was doing his best to save her and make her happy. In Fate/Extra CCC in the True Ending, you were successful in saving Sakura but the costs were very great and will perhaps scar the Protagonist for all eternity. All your friends and allies (including servants) perished, giving up their lives for you to survive and save Sakura. The hardest blow on the Protagonist is the loss of your faithful and loyal servant who was with you ever since the war on the Near Side. Your servant came to your aid on the Far Side knowing full well that they would die in the process of rescuing their master. They continued to live on since you, their master was with them. In the end, they too helped you save Sakura but they are unable to come with you back to the Near Side to see you leave for the real world. The dawn of this truth gives you, the Protagonist great grief and emotional pain since they can't be with you any longer. When your servant starts to fade away and cease to exist (or with Gilgamesh return to slumber), they tell you that the journey that they had with you, their master, is now over but they were happy that they could be with you for as long as possible and are happy that you and Sakura could live on. Before they completely vanish, they tell you that they are grateful that you could be in their lives and wish you a happy life from now on, then they disappear in front of you, leaving you in silence.
GregTheFree What I typed down was essentially how I felt listening to this version, the original, then listening to the slightly altered version used in Fate/Extra CCC. It plays when the True Ending has arrived (not the Heaven's Feel/Realta Rua [Shirou/Saber] or the Servant Ending in CCC [Hakuno/Servant]) and I can sense the similarities. Like the main series, Realta Rua and the Servant Ending (CCC) are the Happy Endings when conditions are met. Heaven's Feel and the True Ending (CCC) follow Sakura's Route, well, CCC was essentially Sakura's Route the whole time if you want to believe it like that since the path ending splits depending on if you got all 3 SGs for your servant (getting all 3 SGs for your servant results in the Servant Ending) or you chose to not fight BB (and didn't get all 3 SGs for your servant). With the Heaven's Feel, CCC True Ending and the Ending of Hollow Ataraxia, the main protagonists (Shirou/Bazett/Hakuno) lost their servants and many other people who were important to their lives and were upset upon realizing that they must leave them behind. Shirou lost Saber in all routes (not including the Realta Rua ending/reunion), Bazett lost Avenger at the end of Hallow Ataraxa and Hakuno lost their servant in CCC if you didn't get all 3 SGs and/or you chose to not fight BB by confessing your feelings towards her (since this results in the True Ending).

Because in those cases it would have been without Emiya Shirou influencing him. Avenger is if Angra Mainyu was born and had the chance to be ear beaten by Emiya Shirou before it just went on to destroy everything.
Also, the "being" that was about to be born in F/SN was not the Servant Avenger, The unnamed sacrifice called "All the World's Evil". What was about to be born was the wish of all curses of mankind given form. A being who would have had the equivalent power of the true Persian God of Darkness himself, the true manifestation of All the World's Evil. So yeah no, that "thing" had to be destroyed or the world would have been swept away by the impure malice of mankind. Avenger on the other hand was just a solitary mortal who had a shitty lot in life and was such a weak Servant that he was easily killed during the third war (hence why Bazett does most of the true fighting in F/HA). That said even Avenger was susceptible to the curses that plagued his own body, leading to him losing control and becoming rampant at times, trying to kill and rape any human he laid eyes on. And yes, even Avenger was a bit more of an anti-hero before replicating Emiya Shirou'spersonality and memories. It was by Shirou's influence on his personality that he became more human, leading to his personal desire to free Bazett from the seemingly eternal dream created by her small wish on the grail.
