  • In the 1970s in Swansea you could sit on the grass among flowers in Castle Gardens and go and get a job at the fancy new DVLA in Clase.

Swansea was once a a very pretty town, nowadays it's a grey depressing concrete jungle. All that money wasted when it could have been used to sort out the surrounding areas especially the valleys and housing estates that have been left for years to decay!

They keep building new blocks of student accomodations across Swansea. Then please tell me why areas such as Uplands and Brynmill are still full of student flats and bedsits which bring those areas down ?

Shame The Welsh Government doesn't spend £50 million on the valleys instead of the cities as usual.

But thank you for giving us a look at our city in the 70s! Thank you

Swansea looked nice in the 70's, it's a grey concrete shit hole now, and the traffic going the wrong way down the kingsway! wtf? I think three people have died already because of that bright idea! Can't wait to see how much more this 'redevelopment' is going to screw things up. Awful place.

I love living in Swansea but it is a concrete mess we need less buildings that don’t belong for example in town if there’s a shop there the rest of the old building on top it looks out of place , like most things
Also the pollution is absolutely disgusting, I feel unsafe to breath in the air or sometimes go in the sea because half the time it’s green or brown 😐

born and bred there it was such a clean and decent place to live then now its disgusting, dirty, and not the town I gre up in made the decision to leave there in 1980 so my children could have a decent life never regretted that decision

I don't know when you moved there, but the reason there are so many ugly spots, is because the city centre was bombed heavily during WW2, in the 50s-90s, they filled most of the destroyed areas with car parks, shopping centres, wide roads. Now they are trying to densify the city centre, to boost jobs, public transport, and tourism. Let's hope they don't screw up

@@thetimelapseguy8 Exactly. Swansea looks greatly improved today than it did by the end of the 1990s. Depressing videos on here of what it looked like then.

They should never have closed the Mumbles Railway. It would have been a tourist attraction today.

These days swansea is almost unrecognisable to what it was only 20 years ago , and not for the better, sad. By the way the music played in this video sounds like the creepy tune played out loud in Pyongyang north Korea, look it up on CZcams

I'd say Swansea looks a lot better today than it did in the 1990s. It's come such a long way since then. There are some very depressing videos on CZcams of what it looked like in the 1980s and 1990s. A really run-down dump of a town.
