If you just got your GMRS license, and don't know much about radios, but want a powerful but simple radio, THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!!
In that case you need a bubble pack radio without a license.
There is absolutely NO privacy in using "privacy codes". Privacy codes are used to filter out hearing other users on the same channel. They can hear you if they aren't using the privacy codes and you are. You just can't hear them, they would have to be on the matching "privacy code". Also, 5 watts is normal for most handheld GMRS radios. 2 watts is for the license-free FRS radios.
5 watts is not "normal" for GMRS radios. There really are only a handful of true 5 watt GMRS radios on the market.
@@akinsman85 False
@@akinsman855w is the highest allowed by law for a handheld. Not all that common really.
Midland radio really did a great job on the new gmrs radio.great video
Yes very impressed with the upgrades from the prior models.
Great video. I’m always looking for new advancements in technology that are improving distance communication.
nice to have the DC charger for long road trips & 5 watts & IP76 water proofing - just in time for Hurricane season too.
Thanks for your help my friend. I am buying 4 radios 💪🏼
Glad I could help. Enjoy!
Awesome
If there really is no user-replaceable battery, that's a deal-breaker for me. Seems like eventually it would end up in my junk drawer with the rest of my dead devices. OK for a cheap radio, but not for a $200 radio.
Most people buying these don't care.
Nice
Looking forward to more info on setup and use experience
5 watt GMRS radios are not common? You must not have Google search
Exactly
What kind of batteries does it use? Regular battery pack. Or can you use AA or AAA?
No it uses a lithium battery. Couldn’t find size of it but they says standby time is 5 days. Which is pretty impressive.
@@adventurefurtheroffroad OK lithium is good. Thanks
It’s not user replaceable or swappable.
Have you tried this in like a wooded area?
We will be doing alot more testing coming up in the next month.
Nice! I’ve got two on the way hoping to get them while here in west Texas will be able to try them across long flat areas! Then back home on Caddo lake see how it does with trees across the water and such. So glad it’s waterproof!
AF10 code not working
Would you suggest this over the Wouxun KG-935G Plus?
We personally have not tested that radio so we can’t really give you a fair comparison for that however looking at reviews of that specific radio, it seems as though the interface is not as user friendly as the Midlands GXT67. There are so many handhelds out on the market but with the research we have done from so many brands, the Midlands stand above and beyond!
The Wouxun is a "ham radio" that has been locked to transmit to GMRS frequencies only so it could be certified by the FCC for GMRS approval. So, it is super loaded with features that a normal GMRS radio wouldn't have. If you want the extra features and complexity, the Wouxun is your choice. If a more simple to use radio is what your looking for, the Midland would be the one.
@@djsoundzentertainment42 is it possible to unlock any of those locked features in the Wouxun? just curious.
@@michaelderby1655 The only locked feature is the transmitting on anything other than GMRS frequencies. I'm not sure about the ability to unlock it as I never looked into it.
Of course not! There are tons of excellent GMRS rigs out there costing a lot less. Midland is late to the game.
Replaceable battery?
No. It's fixed. Lithium Ion 1800mah
Nope. Just throw it away after a couple years when the battery is worn out. 👍
$200 for 1 radio? Or 2?
That is $200 each radio. Well worth the price tag! My Kenwood radios were $450 each radio.
Discount code doesn't work
I’m sorry apparently on the new release items there is a 6 month price lock. It will work on other items on the site. Thanks for watching and they are well worth it.
@@adventurefurtheroffroad No problem. Just ordered a pair. Thanks for this video!
200 dollars and has a non replaceable battery 😂. Yeah, sorry Midland. You lost me there.
They're for normal people who don't care about batteries & wattages.
You can tell that she feels so stupid just standing there doing nothing.
She’s actually sitting but thanks for the look.
What is the distance point to point?
That depends ENTIRELY on what the points are. GMRS is line-of-sight communication, so depends on terrain, vegetation, buildings, height above the ground, and curvature of the earth. Typically you’re dealing with anywhere from a quarter mile to five miles, but if you send two people up in hot air balloons they would work much further.
With a repeater, cities, without 3-5ish miles.
