Them's the breaks. Sometimes calls go your way, sometimes you go home pissed off. Just look at literally every competitive sport - there are reffing issues in all pro leagues.
That being said, that moment has to be the only real 'wtf!' moment I've seen in a long time for a pro match. The reffing these days in the NXL, at least at this level, is actually pretty good.
I've been watching consistently as a paintball fan and I must say your editor is killing you. Every kill gets cut away so we never see what the announcers are announcing. The only explanation I can think of is its a live feed and the director has bad timing when he changes cameras but this should be re edited so no kills are missed. Everyone loves football but would they watch if the camera missed every pass? You guys are doing such a disservice to yourselves.
I think the person you mean is the director (for a live broadcast), but yeah, the cut-aways and general obliviousness to the game flow is painful sometimes. I swear I've watched whole sequences of a guy patiently crawling up to do a good bunkering (like it's a good 30-60s to set up and we watch the whole thing) and they cut away two seconds before he goes.

I've always felt like the camera placement and live cutting has kept this from drawing in new people. They need to poach someone with experience doing live sports broadcasting, or someone with filmmaking experience. It's very easy to lose your bearings in the camera cuts. They don't even conform to having an established screen right/screen left for reference.
Pick an isometric vantage, and array all your cameras at that same height. Pick a 180 arc for all the live cameras and stick with it. No zooming! Have separate, dedicated wide angle and tighter coverage cams. No jerking around cameras in tight coverage. Then when the money rolls in get an xy overhead cable cam.
Exactly! I just stopped it to make a comment about this at 16:25 when that Hall guy went to make a move and they had the perfect angle, then the camera cuts away to nothing at the exact moment he gets knocked, then cuts back as he walks away. That pissed me off so much, not to mention it’s hard to follow what’s going on already. This is my first time watching paintball and so far I’m not liking it because of this camera work. Meanwhile it seem the announcers can see everything. Why not just put a camera in their booth looking at the field

How can an event with that many teams, sponsors, companies, and fans only have a 12K first prize? That's absurd. Most teams probably spent half of that on paint alone just getting to the tournament and competing in it.

you guys really need to get drones for this so that the entire field can be seen. Also the camera seems to constantly cut at like the worst times.
These matches were better than the finals match.
Each side of the fields bunkers should always be different colors for frame of reference, on every field. Teams should wear inverse colors (like home and away colors in every other sport) to tell them apart. Some or all players should have go pros mounted for exciting footage. The bunker layouts look over crowded at times. Full auto after 3 shots is lame lmao - if you're new you're left wondering why their finger movement doesn't match the ROF. (15 bps Capped Semi would make more sense, if you can't trust the Pros not to cheat then what's the point?) Haven't played in 10 years and the viewing experience hasn't really changed.

The constant changing of camera angles is making it hard to follow what is going on and who is shooting at who. also the camera angles are horrible. ask a player where the lanes are and have a camera shooting down that lane. this isn't rocket surgery. if you would put 3 cameras spaced evenly behind the start block and 2 on each side of the 50 yard line, 1 of those being the moving boom camera, you would have better angles.
million dollar idea though... use a semi-transparent map in one of the corners with where the players are at and where they died. an upgrade would be a real-time direction of where they are shooting and IF they are shooting.

I love paintball but this sport is so hard to watch and its boring people sit and don't move it needs something if its ever gonna get to that next step of being a legit sport
I always thought it would be cool to have a time limit for each bunker when u slide in and use it it starts a shot clock basically u have 20 seconds to use the bunker before you have to more otherwise you are condisered out

Awesome, I used to run a store. I would tell everyone that first got a gun to learn to shoot comfortably with both hands, practice switching hands a lot. Kinda like in basketball if you only use one hand to dribble you won't be as good a player.

How much paint do they use a match?
most players will bring 600- 2000 rounds a point. Front players don't carry a lot and back players load up as much as possible. Also, if your team is ahead and trying to drag out a point everyone will bring a ton of paint.

Not Much is really invested in the reffing . That's where paintball needs the attention if it wants to stop spinning its wheels...

Referees, they get in position to see a ball break. Sometimes when you ref, you get shot 100's of times in a day.

For someone who doesn't paintball this is extremely crappy camera coverage and announcing, I've been watching this for 20min trying to understand what is going on and still have no idea what is happening. They announce stuff that isn't even shown on the camera, penalties keep being called but what a penalty is for or what it does when one is called is never explained... bottom line is I have no clue what is happening which is very uninviting for new people. Disliked and never watching again.
