Super smart to just go in the 1,500m. Its her best chance to medal. As fast as she is, I'm not sure she can compete in the 5,000m with the world leaders for a podium spot.
You could see the effect of those two 5ks in the final 100m of this race. ESP didn't have that absolute top gear we've seen in her other 1500 duals. I don't blame her for dropping the 5k for Paris. She can go 3:54 with this being the only race on her schedule. Obviously none of our women are a favorite for that race in a Faith Kipyegon world, but I think we have three clear-cut finalists and three legit threats who could compete for a medal if things go right.
If she runs 3:54 flat it will be an American record. Don't see her medaling.

If Parker is picked for the 5k then she’s set for Paris, even if she does not have the 10l ranking. If she does have the 10k world rank, would she do both or opt for the 10k?
5th place in the 5k may be the one who competes in Paris.
Its the right move. the Ethiopians own the 5k distance and she would have zero chance to medal in the 5k.
So did she do the 5k out of spite to try and mess with someone else’s chances?
no she is not messing anyones chances, the slot will just pass down to the fourth athlete
@@BandwagonnersValby was 4th in 5k and 2nd in 10k. You think she’d do both or does she even have the standard in the 10k? Is Weini Kelati the only one who’s in?
@@MrNoName7474 World Athletics rankings is supposed to be announced today and we'll see if Parker qualifies for the 10k. I didn't hear her say what she'd do if she qualified for both. Karissa didn't say, either.
Not really, the next in line gets it,
The college lady, Parker Valby, but she may just stick with the 10k then the next in line gets it, so it’s still fair.
@@MrNoName7474you don’t need the standard on the 10k, it’s points and ranking, since only one person had the standard.
5k 10k double is a lot, but if she’s healthy it’s worth it, even though Americans come in 6 or worse usually, that’s still good if she can get a personal best.
