Love love love the idea of creating merch with the details in the chateau. Please look into getting these things copywrited first to protect the chateau's history. Sending you guys a big warm hug! 💖
Many years ago near Place de la Concorde in Paris they were demolishing a 19 th century pharmacie and the skip was full of such tiles in beautiful art nouveau colours. They said I could take them but they were so heavy. I found some bags on the bin and newspaper and I wrapped them up and bagged as many as I could much to the enjoyment of a group of Japanese tourists who kept taking pictures as I went on oblivious, thinking only of these tiles. I gave them to a friend who did his bath surround with them. I still have some left.
Dan those floors are amazing!! I’m 45 now and this had better be the longest CZcams channel in their history because I plan to watch you paint the last bit of trim! I don’t care who I have to fight at the nursing home! 😂😂😂
I was fascinated by your cleaning. It is amazing to see your beautiful floor and pillars that survived the years off people, fires flooding and roots. I am getting very attached to your project
Well at least they didn’t sell off the flooring too! The Château is becoming encumbered and I can’t help but feel the old girl starting to stir. Hope and hard work 🤷🏼♀️
Bon voyage Calvin, thanks for helping Dan. The tiles and pillars look magnificent, now you need to protect them from construction damage. You do seem to have Murphy on your shoulder ( if it can go wrong, it will go wrong). Have faith, it will get better eventually. 🙏❤️
My family always called it Schleprock. Reasons idk no one in my family married a Murphy. But I know it's more than just my family because there was a Schleprock on "The Flintstones". He wasn't in many episodes, but he had the same kinda luck! It's Sad that such a dedicated hard worker as Dan de Man should have such luck!
No murphy curse in Jesus Name. Seems like you are blessed Dan. Finding those tiles and finding a chateau with such history. Getting your teeth fixed. You have blessings happening to you left and right Dan!!! Jesus ❤
Calvin, thank you so much for helping Dan. A good friend. Keep the faith Dan, I think you are tired and stressed, you need a vacation. You have so many friends out here rooting for you. The floor is just so beautiful, what a treasure.
No one cared before him. 50 years of neglect. A 40 foot tree and 40 tons of debree . What Dan is doing is telling people we need to know more why this could happen to a place that has a monument off the side of the road like a hit and run .
Don't manifest the worst Dan...things will and so get better! You're living proof of what one man can do single-handedly! Your tiles are insanely beautiful and your project is a wonderful legacy-project. You're fabulous ...just remember that! 🥰🤗
was going to reply something along those lines, but if 'Disaster Always Happens To Me' is your mindset, then it's a tricky one to just not think that anymore..... however true it is that you Manifest Whatever It IS You Believe In.... 💕
Dan, this place is stunning, and when finished, it will be nothing less than magnificent!!!!! Looking forward to watching the journey to the finish line,.
Hello Dan! The tiles are indeed beautiful and the granite pillars once all cleaned up will be an amazing feature in the chateau along with the beautiful tiles. I hope Calvin made it to his flight. But cars are a real pain, even the newer ones. Better luck on your car in the morning. Hopefully you can get it repaired and be back on the road again. Thanks for sharing.😊❤
What a beautiful floor of history which isn't just dirt but a masterpiece that tells a story of children and adults of tough times long ago. Definitely a novel to write about.
I'm much more worried about how you'll be able to protect them while working than I am about them looking a bit worn. Of course they've got little stains and things - they've been through so much! Once you get them sealed properly again they'll be bright and shiny. But please. Please put a protective floor over them while you're working. >.
Then you and your family are in my prayers. Old lady here. From Oklahoma. Nothing worse than sitting by the road in a broke down car. With kids in the back seat. 🙏🙏🙏
Omg. Those tiles!😍 they are absolutely marvellous! Stunningly beautiful!! 😍 you uncovered gold there Dan finding those tiles, so lucky!! You need a roof on now to protect them.
Dan - it's an absolutely fantastic result, getting the beautiful tiles, the granite pill and the stairs - Nice result that came out of your mate's help in the past week - Nice to have help from friends, if it's needed 👌 Now with the arrival of spring, I hope you will also be met with some luck !!
Yes, some good luck for a change! He's just like my son, who had a green van just like Dan's, when he was his age. If he didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck. Fortunately, it changed, for the better, as he got older🥳👍🌞
The colors of the leaves and background of the boarder tiles is unexpected, to me. Love how much more vibrant the entire floor is, after pressure washing!!
Anticipate every video you put out ….. like a child on Christmas Morning …… ❤️ ….. May this project bring you many blessings …… 🙏you have smother sailing ahead …… enough already
Wow, Dan! This is going to be so beautiful, brought back to life. The colors of the tiles and the granite is such a great jumping off point for decor...okay, way ahead of things here. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Calvin for the muscle and hard work!Thank you Annalise for being the super hero!Thank you Stephanie for the use of the power washer! Thank you Nick for the help! Thank you Dan for sharing your reality!
Just thinking...how many people and children have walked over that tiled floor at the entrace in the past, the mind boggles. The marble pillar is so gorgeous cleaned up, and now its inspired you yet again to plow on Dan. You and your cars don't go together very well do they. 🙄 Your doing a grand job. 💕🇦🇺
The floor tiles are absolutely spectacular! What vibrant colour! The cleaned pillar has revealed gorgeous granite. I share your excitement for wanting to see it all cleaned up. It gives you something to really look forward to whilst you deal with setbacks common to renovation in a different Country. In the meantime, please find joy in the great find and the progress you have made thus far. 😄 Please protect those lovely tiles with tarps, plastic or a lot of cardboard. Hoping for the best on your journey. Well done! 👏👍
@@memineaussi-cj4op theft of the tiles is extremely unlikely in France, now it is obviously being reclaimed. Previous removal would have been from what looked like a total destruction.
Time to lay a temorary floor over those tiles, Dan. Protect them as that mound of rubble has done for so long. Also have a wooden structure built around the pillars, like a box, in order to ensure nothing takes nicks and chunks out as you rebuild. Just as you keep each piece of molding, wood, etc. to use as a template. It is now time to secure what you have uncovered. To replicate down the road those features you find, most of which were destroyed. Thank you for bringing us along on this epic journey, Dan.
The tiles and pillars look great Dan. I hope you can get the rest of that room cleared soon too. Your mate deserves a medal for all the work he achieved during the week. I hope you can get a temporary roof on fairly soon and some sort of shelter for yourself built. Perhaps you can approach Terry and Ash at Lacelle to get one of their caravans? That would probably make sense if you can get a power pole connected so you could save some money on accommodation. Just a thought! Best to you always, David
Dan we have to take the good things in life along with the bad. Having the car breaking down, I know it’s inconvenient, but you are all healthy and happy. Don’t trade that off for a little bit of stress. You had uncovered your wonderful tiles, saving you lots of money. You have had a good friend helping you out. I think the good is outwaying the bad. Onwards and upwards. 😊
I have been watching a young couple who had just bought some property and a house, and they had a forest fire and floods. It always seems darkest when things aren't going well but it does get better. It did for them! Sometimes you have to look for the beauty to keep you positive.
My gosh, those tiles are spectacular Dan! What a difference a good power wash makes!!! The tiles, the pillar! Wow! You poor guy and cars! What a shame Calvin had to go back to the UK...hopefully you'll get some more help soon. You have some good friends!
Dan - I can't believe how vibrant the floor tiles are at this long-neglected chateau that you are bringing back to life. Being from California, as soon as you began power washing the columns, I knew they are made of granite. We have granite formations all over the Sierra Nevada, foothills and Sacramento area, where we live. You are doing a fantastic job - and you handle the 'glitches' pretty well. Love watching your channel!
On the plus side, clutches don't usually just completely fail, they usually give plenty of warning with slipping, shuddering and or bad noises. A sudden fail would be more likely to be either a hydraulic line/cylinder or mechanical cable failure which is usually a lot easier, quicker and cheaper to fix...
He's had more than his share of vehicle troubles with the green van, his motorcycle, and now his newly purchased car all failing him in recent weeks. Frustrating.
"If it weren't for bad luck, Id have no luck at all." 🎵🎶🎵 (Americans of a certain age will be able to sing along-lol.) Cleaning that floor and the pillar was about the most satisfying power wash job I've ever seen! Both are spectacular. See? That was some good luck!
Absolutely spectacular tiles and the granite pillars are gorgeous! Do get some expert advice on how to refurbish the tiles and protect them now that you have exposed them. I hope the guys you bought that car from will take some responsibility for the problems you've already had with it! Hopefully better days ahead.
Those tiles are floor jewels … absolutely exquisite colours and pattern. A proper pain that you had to put up with a broken car at the end of a lovely day. There will be much better days ahead. Keep on keeping on.
Wow! What a gorgeous floor that is! Such vibrant colors. And those pillars too! And then...it all went South on the way to the airport. Annalise to the rescue saving the day! 😁
Hi Dan, I do hope that you will get to read this! I remember those times when my husband and I were first married. We had nothing. Any setback seemed an absolute disaster! But we were young and healthy, we had 2 beautiful baby boys ( and now 6 beautiful grandchildren. ) Looking back now from the grand old age of 80 , and a widow for 4 years, what would I give to have it all back; but it only comes around once. So, remember, all things must pass, so make the most of now, troubles and all. And be positive, you have a wonderful attitude and work ethic; you will make it!
Beautiful floor! Yeah, I know what you mean, sometimes the bumps in the road of life can sometimes become holes and cause much damage. One day at a time and sometimes one problem at a time. Hope we see Calvin again. See ya tomorra!!!
Uhm.... Of course Dan will know, to protect the tiles 🙄 He is going to put up massive scaffolding, and work on the floors and roof above. He IS quite clever, if you hadn't noticed 😉 They are so gorgeous, all the different tiles! I can already imagine the beautiful interior, as it was.... I can hardly wait for it to be brought back!
It would be wise if they wore hard hats inside as well. Don’t want an accident from falling bricks while excavating. Great progress and a stunning floor.
Bless Annalise's heart! I'm sorry Dan. If it weren't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. Hopefully it'll be a quick & inexpensive fix. But on the upside, the tiles are absolutely amazing!!!!! Now I'd be worrying of them getting damaged during further work lol.
The Petherick’s have the blueprints for their chateau. There must be a way of finding out of there are any somewhere. Even knowing the history of the building and who the architect was and contacting relatives might work. The town might also have a copy.
Oh, so happy to see the steps cleaned off. When they were cleared, I said to myself “Get one of those power-washer guys in there.” I’m overjoyed to see those beautiful tiles!
I've recently started to watch the playlist and it is great to see the chateau getting in better shape step by step. No matter how small the steps are. - Great job. 😀
Seeing these tiles all clean makes me imagine how grand she once was. I can imagine the grand parties her first owner would have had. The elegance of what remains after all those years is incredible.
Dan I’m sorry you had a hiccup there. However, things do go right look at your beautiful tile and the pillars will be stunning. All your hard work has paid off vehicles are just not your forte lol they just don’t like you. But fortunately your shot toe does. Hope you can get your clutch fixed inexpensively if that’s a word, and quickly. Look forward to a better tomorrow. You’re OK the boys are OK and in the end that’s all that really matters. You’re all safe. And sending love and a big hug.😖🤗🤟🏻😎🇺🇸
I know it seems like nothing ever goes right, but you have an incredible work ethic and you have done amazing things on the chateau restoration , and you have done a majority of it on your own. You have had incredible luck with many things in regards to the renovation.. 👏
I understand that one can feel that ”things do not go right” but look at ALL YOUR GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS and TALENTS you have Dan and these are weighing so, so much more! You are such a good and multitalented man - a real fighter - doing such a great job!! ❤❤❤
Wow Dan the tiles look amazing and the granite pillars when all done and brought back to life so lovely to see someone with the passion that you have for this building and bringing the heart of it back to life this is going to be a amazing restoration when this is done and my goodness how proud are you going to be my hat goes of to you and all of the people that buy these historic buildings and bringing them back to life
Count your blessings--you had a beautiful reveal on the floor tiles and pillars. You are safe and someone finally came to the rescue! What an amazing project!
I am following this restoration with joy! I thought the basement tiles were beautiful, these tiles and granite columns are stunning. I can wait to see more. Dan you do beautiful work. See you tomorrow
what an adventure, it truly is watching something from an episode from the time machine. you never know what your going find underneath all of that debris.....
Those tiles are stunning. The granite pillars wow! Well done Calvin ! Safe trip. I see walls painted a creamy yellow in the future🙌. It’s going to be amazing. A picnic is a great idea , that will be nice for your sons. Nick is a amazing! So sorry about the car, it happens . Tomorrow is another day. Thanks to Annalise for saving the day!
You and Calvin accomplished so much. You should be proud. Calvin's a true friend. Anyone can show up for parties. Real friends show up when there is hard work to do. Sorry about the car, the long, fruitless wait for the recovery vehicle. How frustrating.
Now put down heavy plastic to protect the beautiful floors. You could place wood sheeting or plastic sheeting if it exists on top of plastic to keep it down properly and walk on while doing construction.
Absolutely gorgeous tiles it's amazing how soil preserves things like this and I've had two clutch cables go in a month Luckily the first time I was nearly home so I drove very slowly in second lol second time I had to be rescued
You're such a champ, Dan! I'm in awe of your patience. And like I said yesterday, it's a grand palace! Never been to Europe but I'd definitely come for a visit.
Have a safe trip back home Calvin, you did such a lot of work clearing the dirt in the chateau. That was very kind of you to help Dan. Those tiles are beautiful Dan you should take a photo of it while it is all clean. Glad everything went well in the end that Annalise could come and pick you and the children up.
Wow! The uncovering is beautiful! Good job, Dan! Everything did go right. You did have help. Being stranded with nothing is when nothing goes right. You have been involved in wonderful projects that have gone well. You are a hard worker. Your children are wonderful! It looks like things are going right.
Aaaahhhh! Thank you for power-washing the beautiful stairs and the sides too. It was just something I wanted to see done and you did it!! Thank you and my OCD thanks you, and so sorry about the car breaking down, but cars do break down and they seem to have impeccable timing when they do so, but as I can do nothing, I will send some warm prayers and well wishes your way, and for Calvin too😊😇
Dan, you always manage! Sending good vibes your way, and prayers of protection as you continue with this mammoth task of restoring your chateau. Your floors are so beautiful!
Sometimes it may look like things are going wrong. When it looks this way to myself in my own life, I have come to consider that these things happen for a reason. Who knows? If your vehicle hadn't stopped on you, you may have proceeded into a horrible accident? Although detained and annoyed, you and yours are well; none the worse in the end. Thank God for your good fortune! Love you, Dan! ❤
Thank you Calvin so very much for helping Dan. He really does need all the help he can get. The tiles you guys uncovered are exquisite and wonderful that they are still there in lovely condition. Whatever company made the tiles surely would love to have pictures or come film to use in their advertisements and historic information. What a splendid product. Too, too bad about the car. Nice ending to the day to be home with your precious sons. They are your future. Bless your heart and hope the sun shines on you tomorrow.
Those tiles held up so well and beautiful and the column all cleaned up is fantastic. I kept saying you should power wash the radiator then the floor so you can wash away all the stuff that came off the radiator. Can't wait to see the rest of the floor down there totally cleaned out of the dirt and muck and that side power washed. Going to be beautiful.
Chris from North Thailand, love your channel, yes have been watching for a while, floor looks great, and the granite Pilar. Emotionally I can see your are down, but you are holding up well, maybe the family separation. Hang in there mate, I got the T shirt. Live for today and tomorrow not yesterday, time heals all wounds well done with your day blog. Time here 2 pm. Your morale picked up when you got help.
Dan you are a winner and an inspiration. Powering through despite ... Tiles are a godsend, granite columns very beautiful, even the steps look good. Your boys are beautiful and you and Annalise keep it happening kindly. Love your can do and your crazy optimism. Doing my own mad projects in Australia and I watch you to keep me going.
Those tiles are fabulous! I watched a video not too long ago about a guy that makes those by hand - I think in Morocco! I’ll look for it & link it to ya! 👍🏼
Power washing now is such a great idea before making it water tight for inside. Seeing it looking good will give you a boost every time you walk up the stairs and enter. Breaking down will probably be an exciting memory for the kids too!
every minute you invest in rebuilding the château is worth it. Honestly, I didn't believe it at first, just thought OMG why did he buy such a ruin, but it's still a very, very long and tedious way until everything is ready. But now I believe in you, you can do it‼️👍🏾👍🏾
Wow, can you believe the beauty of this floor!!! so awesomely beautiful. Amazing to have all the rubbish out. Those Pillars are so beautiful Dan, you are lucky they are still standing. This is such a joy to follow. The stone work is amazing too. Look at that!!! Oh Dan, I'm so very sorry!
The colours of the tiles are beautiful!! I hope you can consult with some restoration experts to develop a plan to save them. I can’t imagine that a power-washer would be among their top 10 suggestions! Lol
Photo the tiles. Send to digital fabric printing company. Print tea-towels, cushions, posters, wallpaper, tea shirts - whatever. Get some merch, Dan!
Epic idea even for a fundraiser to raise money to renovate the Chateau great idea
Stone coasters. I’d be willing to buy a set of 4.
I want over sized tiles. I collect them.
Love love love the idea of creating merch with the details in the chateau. Please look into getting these things copywrited first to protect the chateau's history. Sending you guys a big warm hug! 💖
Great idea! Even on a shirt the tile design would be beautiful. Kitchen towels, cups, and coaster would really sell. Hopefully he can work that out.

I almost recommend removing all the tiles and then re-installing them at a later date. Now that they’re uncovered, they’re vulnerable
Agreed. Protect them against weather and thieves.
I was going to say the same thing about the tiles being vulnerable now that they are exposed!
Might be better to lay a composite sheet board over it. Lifting would be too risky.
I concur, but recommend putting a series of joists down, covered with construction ply, for protection and security.

The granite pillar looks like it’s brand new after the jet wash. Gorgeous tiles, the colours are so cool 👌🏻.
How gorgeous this place was, I so hope to see it returned to the beauty it was once before! Cant wait to see It!
WOW 🤯 the tiles and that piller "Beautiful" you are doing such a wonderful job, keep going the best is yet to come young man 🤗
Wow Dan those tiles are beautiful the colour of them 😍 and the Piller's are wonderful too, can't wait for the next step in your chapter wow.x💕🌼🤗
How beautiful! The tiles, the pillars, all of it.
But we were young and healthy, we had 2 beautiful baby boys ( and now 6 beautiful grandchildren. ) Looking back now from the grand old age of 80 , and a widow for 4 years, what would I give to
have it all back; but it only comes around once. So, remember, all things must pass, so make the most of now, troubles and all. And be positive, you have a wonderful attitude and work ethic; you will make it!
AND all this video footage for future viewing! (That's what I regret)
I was soooo hoping you'd pressure wash the tile, to see what the colors truly are!! Thanks for doing that, Dan!!
Love the tile and the granite pillar. I hope you are going to live here. What an adventure and so much history. Be safe.
I wonder if there are some old blueprints of the chateau? It would be amazing if there was.
The Petherick’s have the blueprints for their chateau. There must be a way of finding out of there are any somewhere. Even knowing the history of the building and who the architect was and contacting relatives might work. The town might also have a copy.
@@eleniantoniou534 Yes they do and it would be fantastic if Dan could get his hands on the ones for this one. 😊
This has got to be the best chateau reno ever. Looking forward to watching your progress.
Good to see Annalise albeit briefly. Love her!
Mop and bucket would be better to protect tiles.
That is life, how we choose to handle the issue is on us. Great work amazing how the tiles clean up.
The power washing really shows the colors and beauty of the tiles and columns. Enjoyed.
Hang in there….you’re making serious headway….your UTube family is cheering you on! Absolutely love the gorgeous tiles and the pillars!,❤
This is, so exciting. Those tiles are magnificent.
That floor has come up really beautiful you would never know it being buried for so many years
Thank you Calvin so very much for helping Dan.
After 15 years of having old cars,I realised it's one area where one has to spend, spend
And wine is the other. Cheap wine in the UK is yuk.
Wow Dan, and you still managed to get the vlog out after all the disasters of the day! Well done The tiles and pillar look stunning!
Dan so sorry you are having so much stress you don’t deserve. Hope something works out with the car soon. ❤
Wait why are you power washing the tiles when you still have several yards of dirt and rubble to remove from the room??
Power washing now is such a great idea before making it water tight for inside. Seeing it looking good will give you a boost every time you walk up the stairs and enter. Breaking down will probably be an exciting memory for the kids too!
every minute you invest in rebuilding the château is worth it.
Honestly, I didn't believe it at first, just thought OMG why did he buy such a ruin, but it's still a very, very long and tedious way until everything is ready.
But now I believe in you, you can do it‼️👍🏾👍🏾
Yes the tiles are magnificent. And yes fabric and linen prints of them would be a boon in many ways. Merchandise it all.
WOW the tiles are amazing, and well done with all your progress thus far. It's look so different already. Love your outside table.
Wow - hope the car isn’t too expensive to fix. Annalise to the rescue - thank goodness. Did Calvin make his flight?
The colours of the tiles are beautiful!! I hope you can consult with some restoration experts to develop a plan to save them. I can’t imagine that a power-washer would be among their top 10 suggestions! Lol
Did not imagine that pillar would clean up that nice! Amazing!
Happy Saturday Nancy, That’s so thoughtful of you, Thanks for your positive review, How are you and how’s the weather over there?
