I’ve been listening to Yebbas part for about a year so I knew she was about to do what needs to be done , I was mesmerized by Tori, but John?!! He gave us some authentic, old school gospel singing and I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied🙌🏾
all 3! Yebba understood the assignment, John straight sang, but when Tori showed up, we was already taking a flight, Jacob said hold up, we finna reroute, tori finna take over and take off.
Okay. If you do not listen to the original song with Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel you are missing the depth meaning of the song. Take it back to the original. No one and I mean no other singer or artist can surpass the original, as far as this song is concerned.
Collier was inspired by and even straight up directed John and Tori's runs to mirror Yebba. This whole thing stems from her and she asked for the least amount of credit. She is to be protected at all costs and deserves a Grammy for this.
@@LB-kr5kuWhat do you mean finally? Anyone who knows music knows that she was the genesis for the idea of this track. Jacob was floored by her original recording (as were most of us) and couldn’t stop listening to it and wanting to collab with her vocals in some kind of way. Without Yebba’s original performance, this track doesn’t exist.
You ARE so enjoyable to watch! We are in ONE accord when it comes to your emotional resonance!! I can't wait to see the Tori Kelly run challenge across the internet. And I definitely want to see who else in Jacob's LIVE shows gets the honor of perform this song. Seeing Alita Moses perform some of the songs LIVE like, " In Too Deep" that other artists covered on the album was REFRESHING!! seriously, tori had one challenge before this and they epic failed, but this, this ain’t for everybody! you have to have it if you wanna get on that level. heck, even adding your own spin to it. I mean, you have to have a voice in that throat box of yours.
Fun Fact: Before I moved to Chicago, I taught in the music department at Wittenberg University located in Springfield, Ohio, John Legend's hometown. His mother was one of my adult voice students for years while finishing her accounting degree. The entire family is talented.
Jacob PLEASE never perform this live I fear you would not live to see the next day if Faith Fam heard about it! 🤣🤣🤣Nah genuinely this arrangement is insane. Great video as usual! ❤❤
starting from that part on, freaking I can’t. I had to run that back. 4:57 right there. the runs, the harmony, the control of it all. I mean, are they really of this world? where all that come from. ain’t ever heard anything like that in my life.
Those transitions.....Lord Have Mercy!!! I do not have any more words. Gonna listen at least 3 more times!!! Thank you for sharing and you're welcome for Stan Walker - I Am. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was written by Paul Simon in 1969 and recorded in 1970 with Art Garfunkel. “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” which is one of the most enduring songs from the past four decades, won the GRAMMY Award for Record of the Year and Song of the Year in 1971. Special mention to Aretha Franklin for tearing this song up live on piano - Franklin debuted her version on March 5, 1971, during her landmark three night stint at San Francisco's Fillmore West, which was later released as Aretha Live at Fillmore West. The first DAW to be created is attributed to Soundstream, with their Digital Editing System, created in 1977. It wasn’t until 1989 that Digidesign release Sound Tools, the predecessor and base for the industry standard ProTools. Cubase released the VST format in 1996 which was a huge leap forward for the DAW world, allowing cross talk between different software. In 1981, Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits, presented a paper on the “Universal Synthesizer Interface.” Just two years later, in 1983, at the winter NAMM Show*, a Sequential Circuits Prophet-600 was able to talk to a Roland Keyboard over a 5-pin cable. And this partial history is how the world receives a Jacob Collier, and a Yebba, with a John Legend and a Tori Kelly collaboration on a Bridge Over Troubled Water. Peace be unto all Healing be unto all Freedom above all else be upon all R.I.P Aretha Franklin, Dave Smith and all we have lost to troubled waters everywhere. Keep The Faith.
@@FaithJones1990 For no reason I can think of all I can think is that it's a miracle the studio isn't next to a shoe convention because the amount of footwear heading at them NO ONE could duck that much. The first time I heard this (on Jacob's channel) was a few hours ago and I STILL have chills.
Here is the funniest part: the bit she paused in the end of Yebba's run is not real, the clip was cut short, so Jacob faked it out of other recordings.

what's funny is Yebba never sang that part at 2:05 (it's not in the original video of her singing this song), it was most definitely digitally prolonged and I recognize the run at the end from her live version of My Mind! lol. it's at 1:50 here: czcams.com/video/RXwE1G7_U9M/video.html
