    That Santa Fe Tyco locomotive is an earlier one and it has a MUCH better quality drive than the later ones!
    All the pre-1975 Tyco locomotives have very good motors and drives - if it doesn't run well, all it needs is cleaning and lubrication. I have a Tyco from 1959 that runs great!
    There were also some Tyco locomotives made between 1988 and 1993 that were actually made by Mehano (same company that actually made IHC trains, as well as some of the AHM and Model Power trains), and they have a drive akin to an IHC drive, which runs VERY well!

    My theory about the middle wheel is that they are not connected to the middle axle, probably just a Bandai thing. I found pictures of Thomas, Gordon, James, Duck, and Donald with the same issue. The plastic Bandai trains are called Nakayoshi. Bandai also made the Thomas Mini Die Cast Collection, Departing Now motorized series, squishy Thomas toys, the Waku Waku series which is a mini toy range with rubbery bodies, and some other mini toy ranges and one-off toys of different characters.
    The NOT&M is the New Orleans, Texas and Mexico railroad which the Missouri Pacific acquired in 1926, but kept using the name Gulf Coast Lines until 1956.
    Tyco switched to a pancake motor bogie called Power-Torque in the mid 70s. Those fail quite easily compared to the motor design that came before it.

    Fun fact - for your Tyco Road and Rail set that you made videos of a while back - since the slot cars don't work - there's a company called Harden Creek Slot Cars that sells reproduction gears, motors, and rubber tires for Tyco slot cars! So you can still technically buy new parts! Sadly, they don't make any for the trains! 😭

    Stepney was such an interesting character in Thomas and Friends - it's such a shame he didn't appear more than he did! Man, I wish they had brought him back during the Brenner era - that would have been the best!

      Fortunately he is gonna return in the revival era.

    Another fantastic video. I wish Bachmann would release Stepney but sadly Bachmann said they couldn’t because Stepney has not been relevant in the series for so long. but this is still in amazing video.

      It sucks that Mattel isn’t letting Bachmann make Stepney due to him not returning in the CGI series.

    Man I got alot of those bn box cars from when I buy lots and I've acquired like 20 I guess I'm debating on keeping a few and getting rid of the rest

    Again, a lot of the squealing that the later Tycos make is from dry motor bearings. Put a tiny bit of oil on the motor bearings and the squealing should stop.
    I would recommend checking out Ron's Trains and More and Classic Model Trains on CZcams - they know how to make any Tyco run perfectly and last forever, and they have videos on how to!

    The plastic Bandai trains are nakayoshi. I know you have nostalgia for Tyco trains but which is better quality Tyco or Bradford Exchange? I don’t know the purpose of spotlight cabooses

      @TrainTsarFun  Před 20 dny

      I don’t know the prototype reason for spotlight cabooses. Maybe for accidents at night. Tyco the price matches the quality so it’s always a better choice. If Bradford exchange was priced better - it’s a little better quality than Tyco

    The Bandai middle wheels are share the same tooling so they all have the holes in them but the rods only clip into the front and rear wheels in the set
