Hurricane Watch in Texas for Hurricane Beryl

Beryl weakened to a tropical storm earlier today, but is still expected to restrengthen markedly as it heads towards the Gulf Coast of the United States. It's fairly clear at this point that we will see a hurricane landfall in Texas, but the landfall zone could still vary anywhere from Padre Island to Galveston. The projected strength of the storm is also under question, with indications showing that it could become stronger than a Category 1 at landfall. However, the forecast calls for winds of near 90 miles per hour at landfall, comparable to Hurricane Hanna in 2020.
