Two great guitars! I'd stick to the CV though - it's generally better, but that doesn't mean that the Sonic Strat isn't worth the money either!

I went to the guitar store today with the intention of buying a Squier Sonic but ended up renting the Classic Vibe for a month instead. Very impressed, likely going to buy it.
Am I the only one that thinks the Sonic Strat sounded slightly better? I guess it’s just a matter of preference
The Sonic Squier has the Narrow Tall frets (I suppose and hope to be something like the Dunlop 6150 Narrow Tall frets). Only for this, I will definetly buy one! In the 180€ price you get more than a spare neck. So, why not? 😊
classic vibe on reverb clean sounded alot warmer other one was more bright and crisp
To me the sonic looks and sounds better, I ordered the sonic single humbucker model that I'm putting a setmour duncan in and doing upgrades to my liking, but honestly if a squier is going to cost over $200, then your already in Mexican fender territory
Where have you been picking up mexican fenders for $200? Or haven't you priced mexican fenders lately?

bro the SCV series is the closest and cheapest way to get real 54s twang tone for budget. SCV is the maximum Squier High-Quality production from Indonesia, in parts better then a modern Fender Player MIM (except bridge, potis, alder body) when u prefer more vintage pus in budget - then u go for SCV. Modern ceramics low-budget then u go for SONIC. With Fender decal u get not near 54` vintage twang pu's for at least 400$ - even if u buy only a 54 Vintage Pure Custom PU Set.
SONIC has Poplar/Maple + Ceramic PU , modern and harsch - SONIC + Tex-Mex upgrade option. SCV has Pine/Maple + Alnico V PU, vintage and warm.
In Canada the Squier CV costs $589.99 and the cheapest Fender strat is regularly $1,099.99.
Thanks! Nice comparison. You said that the machine heads are different in both models and it impacts tuning stability. Are CV tuners better? Every time I see an offer with used and modded CV almost always people are changing mh to fender’s because of tuning problems.
Yeah in my opinion the CV tuners are better. They're more than okay for home use but if you're thinking about playing gigs etc then getting some better tuners may be a good idea. Fender locking tuners aren't that expensive so I assume that's why a lot of people buy them

They both sound good, but i like the sound of the Sonic more. Seems like a very good guitar for the cheap cost value of $199.

Sonic sounds better. However, it's all about the playability - neck, fretwork, finish, string action and most importantly - a guitar's sustain. The review doesn't say anything about that. The rest, like pickups can be changed easily so it's not that important.
The majority of what you described is in the neck and how well the neck interfaces with the body and well it allows a good setup. I am including frets and nut as part of the neck.
