Jared Leto is the singer and his brother Shannon is on drums. Whatever people think of Jared Leto, he his a multi-talented dude, no question.
I grew up on metal, more specifically the more underground stuff, death metal, black metal. But with age, I came to find myself really getting into 30 seconds to Mars (amongst many other styles/genres less heavy) and have even defended the band when mate's have said they're shit haha well, that's my 2 pence

@@parisbrat The video is from 2006 so he was younger but he's still young looking today. He's been known to have really weird behaviors on movie sets. Especially when he played the Joker, went a bit far with pranks to the point of making other actors uncomfortable. He said he wanted them to dislike him to make it more realistic in the movie.
@@CreepyNeighbor666 He is a method actor essentially which can lead to you doing some dark stuff like when Heath Ledger played Joker he reportedly locked himself in a hotel room by himself for a month to try to get himself crazier. Purposefully limiting contact to other people.

And those are all before this song dropped haha. I remember it being crazy that he went from an actor to the entirety of this album... and as of yesterday with the Morbius trailer the guy is as relevant and jacked as ever.

" on ABC (I was thinking it was on MTv - apparently not), back in the mid 90s. I think he and Claire Danes (the actress) both kind of got their starts with that show.
Just to clarify, theres nothing easy about being a good "screamer". Like thats one of those things where you really gotta know how to do it or else you can really do some damage to yourself
and even if you know how, as with everything, there are levels. The Sam Carters and Winston McCall are few and far in between, much less being able to scream in the first place.
Every time I hear the part where he yells "This is who I really am!!", I get goosebumps.
About 2014-15 TSM opened for Linkin Park.. (took my son it was his first real concert), after the show heading towards the parking lot. A guy in a hoodie sweat shirt passes on his road bicycle.. pulls hood off , it’s Jared Leto, he says to us , . “hey guys, thanks for coming to the show” : then rides off into the darkness . Pretty cool move.
They and Blindside opened for Linkin Park back in 2007 in Sweden too :)
They played at the state fair here in MN, AFI as the opening act. Was such a good show, I'm glad I got to see LP before Chester passed.

Jared Leto was AMAZING in person. I saw him right before Linkin Park at a concert, and Leto won over the audience so fast. He turns the lights out, then runs out into the crowd, and asks for requests to sing lol. The guy may be...all over the place in his personal life, but MAN he can put on a show. I can totally understand how he created his 'cult island' thing after seeing his charm in real life.
Jared Leto always wanted to be a musician, but acting is where the money was. So he would pull his band with him on movie shoots, so they could work on music wherever he was working.
My first thought was... how do they not know who was singing? my second thought was.. how do they not know the shining? and my third thought was... I am a glutton for cultural overload and should probably seek help. I Love you guy's ...

He has great vocals and beautiful clarity and his voice from screaming to being soft

Edit: So, when you guys do songs with videos, I've noticed you often seem to get the song and the video confused. Some videos are deeply connected to the songs the accompany, and watching and understanding the video can enhance your understanding of the song and your listening experience. Many (most?) videos, though are only tenuously related to their songs and can be more of distraction than anything else. It seems like you guys often get caught up in the video and proceed to misinterpret the music. Like others have said, this video was basically a straight up homage to The Shining; it's a really cool video, but it would be a mistake to try to understand the song through it.
I agree completely. Most reaction channels get distracted by the "official video's" and their opinion tends to focus on the content of the video rather than the lyrical message. That's why it's disappointing when they use them. The same goes for songs with complex lyrics (think Tool) and they don't pull up the lyrics before listening to the song.
Yeah, it makes it harder to watch and enjoy because there’s more confusion than genuine discovery and enjoyment going on.
Channels should ask with requests whether or not it’s best to have the lyrics to follow, some knowledge or background of the musicians, or to listen to the song while taking its official video lightly.
As much as I could never like screamo type bands, I've always appreciated 30 Seconds To Mars for some reason, and Leto is a great singer. Great band

Jared and his brother Shannon are super chill and nice. Met them in Atlantic City about the time this was made. It was an autograph thing and Jared stops the dang thing just to grab my arms to show his brother my tattoos. We fist bumped liked a couple of bros and I bounced.

i love this song soooo much, it's one of my all time favorite alternative rock songs. and yes as most people have said, that is Jared Leto. i've loved him since i was a kid and he was on My So Called Life, he sang a little bit on there as well. also if you ever get to listen to the stripped down live version, it's incredible.
To answer your questions, one of the biggest actors out there. Hes been doing them both for quite a while now and hes great at both, but acting, like hes really good. One of the best.

2006-2007...I rocked with 30 so hard back then. When they would come to the Tabernacle and the band would play this song, you could barely hear them because everyone would be singing along. Still one of my favorite songs.

The video is basically a tribute to the movie The shining. If you've seen The shining you would notice the Easter eggs in this video. From the hotel to the twins vibe.
Brad made me laugh out loud (in a good way :-)) when he was describing his expectations, how Jared started out actually singing and he realized he'd underestimated him, but felt vindicated when he started screaming as expected...so awesome!! Brad was just so happy with himself, I felt happy with him, and he delivered it in a comedic way :-)
The guitarist went to my high school (he's a lot younger than me, so I never knew him) so did his sister, Ivana Milicevic, who is a actress who starred in Banshee, on Cinemax.

You guys should do all your reactions twice if there's a music video. First do a reaction to the song with a lyric video for Brad to wrap his head around the lyrics and Lex to get a feel for the song. Then do a second video of you two watching the music video. I think it would be interesting to see you catch things you may have missed the first time and see you take on the video separate from the song. Often the video adds to or clarifies the story the song is telling but it can be a lot to take in all at once (sound, lyrics, meaning, video) and can be overwhelming and muddy the experience. Either way, I love watching your reactions, keep up the awesome work!

Yeah often times a video isn’t related to the song in such a direct way. It’s more of one close interpretation or even a spun interpretation, but the whole of the song is in the actual music and lyrics. So it’s good to consume them separately and not try to take in an analyze everything at once. They’re essentially two separate mediums, so can be reacted to and “analyzed” as such.
Jared is a true GOLDEN boy. Literally everything he touches turns to Gold and his voice is EPIC!
You MUST do their cover of Rihannas’ stay LIVE version, one of the best covers of a song ever and it shows great chops!
Jared also got his start on My So Called Life, a great show back in the day that was a launch for multiple careers

It seems nobody noticed that the music clip was shot in the same hotel were the Steven King movie THE SHINING, by Stanley Kubrick with Jack Nicholson ,was shot. also with the famous twin children scene. And alot of scenes of the clip are borrowed from that movie. 😎

It's referencing an old horror movie called 'The Shining'. As much as there is always a lot of work in 30STM's videos and they are a good watch I feel it's better to hear studio or lyric versions for a first listen because the song gets broken up so much in videos.
