Ooh, Tamlyn, use the blue & white striped fabric for your first real make! The purple for your toile will reveal any adjustments you need to make, so no fear! 😘

Tallin, my choice would be the striped fabric for the trousers. Rachel, thank you for explaining the crutch/hungry bum issue & what you did to overcome this. The fabric will look amazing on you. I’ve not made trousers this fitted or with a zip fly but I may give it a go now. Ruan, good selection of twirl fabric & look forward to seeing the main fabric made up. Thank you another great video.😊

Rachel, beside your lovely choice of fabric and description of pattern, I'm sure I've never heard such a great discussion about increasing room for our bum but not loosing inches of fabric around the hip! Thank you very much!!!!!

Tamlyn, sorry I can't choose between the white and stripe. They are both gorgeous 😊 Ruan, the teal is lovely 😊 and Rachel, your fabric is purrrfect 😊

Hello all, Tamlyn I think the strips would be amazing, Rachel the Trousers would look amazing with a plain white Donny shirt. Ruan I think for the royal blue for the plan version. The green will look amazing as well.

  • @SueTownson
    @SueTownson Před měsícem +1

I love both your fabrics Tamlyn - I would make them in the white denim just because the stripes might be so difficult with any fitting challenges over your curved hips.

Tamlyn I am absolutely in love the striped Denim ♥️ mind you I have a soft spot for the purple! White is just too dangerous for me 😂 Rachel, completely agree on the foil thing, soon as you take it out of place it moves. Thanks for sharing your experience of fitting your Thea’s, really appreciated it! And Ruan I really like the dark green for your Toile … and bam 💥 tge bright green is going to be amazing! Thank you so much for asking me to share this Thea adventure with you lovely ladies ❤

Rachel!! Omg...your adjustments were so helpful to understand, thank you. I couldn't figure this adjustment out until you showed me your pattern, thank you so very much for explaining. ❤
Ruan, I know exactly what your talking about with the placement of your patch pockets, 😊.
I've wanted to make the Thea for some time now, but I'm not sure as I'm a shorty and I feel like flare legs in a shorty just makes you look bigger legged than you are....so I may in future but just more of a straight leg rather than flare. I don't want to look any shorter or wider than I already am...lol 😅
Tamlyn, I think the plans you have will be very cute for you.
I can't wait to see all of your versions... I just love Mt Northern Sewl Sisters!! ❤

I am the same with wide legged trousers - sorry if this is a stupid question but is it just a simple adjustment to make the legs straight rather than flared Do you just make the line adjustment from the outer leg line on the pattern ?

Have any or all of you tried the top down center out method of trouser fitting? I see that mentioned in a couple of the facebook groups I'm in, and it certainly sounds interesting. At least to someone who's never fitted a trouser in any way at all. I feel like that could make for an interesting group collab and video.

Hi All. thank you for the video on the Thea - I would like to buy the pattern but wider legs just don't suit me I am 5ft 1in and wider at the waist! so could I do this in a narrower fit.... Tamlyn I would go for the White although I am not sure Taylor will help keep them clean lol, Rachel thank you for so much for the illustration on the pattern for the fitting this is so usual and I love that you do this for us, Ruan the teal is beautiful !! I am going over to Emma's channel now to watch hers. Can't wait to see your finished garments :)

I love the green Ruan! I've made 2 Thea's now and love them. I found a really good tutorial for putting in the zip fly by the stitch sisters, I found it a better method than the pattern instructions, it gives a good overlap so the zip doesn't show at all.

Loved watching your video. Tamlyn, I love your striped fabric. I’m just about finished my 1st pair of Thea trousers. I also made a wearable toile and was socked, amazed and delight to make a straight size 4, and not need any adjustment. There will ne many more pair to come 🎉. Can’t wait to see all your finished garments ❤.

Love that you’re doing trousers, I always find that trousers that feel like they fit nicely seem to dig into my belly and gape at the back especially when I sit down… I could do with figuring that one out.
Rachel, you look lovely in your glasses. I’ve just discovered that I can by distance glasses online with reactive lenses for about £12. As a long term contact lenses wearer I can now keep a spare pair of glasses in the car, my handbags, at work… I can have a pair in every colour 🤣😂🤣. No more putting up with a winking eye if they start to feel dry. X

I love all the different fabric choices for each of you. I don't have that pattern, but I'm going to follow along with a different pattern and some gifted fabric. Fitting is a bit different as I have long legs, 32 inch inseam, but a shorter back due to scoliosis. I always have to reduce the crotch depth. Also my pattern has an exposed button fly, but I'm changing it to a zipper. I read one of your comments and a follower suggested the Stitch Sisters for help with that. I look forward to the finished result and your review of the pattern. It always fun following you three.

A great video ladies! Thank you for all the fitting tips. I made the Theas from a similar chambray to Ruan's teal chambray. They came out OK (ish) but I really struggled with the fly zip. I seem to have a mental block about them but I'll keep trying.

Im making trousers at the moment (again!). I'm doing the Simplicity amazing fit 8056 trouser. Ive made these several times but my weight fluctuates and as I've learnt new fitting techniques I tweak my pattern . Tamlyn i like the striped fabric. Rachel I have just done the same adjustments as you but I dip down a little on the back crotch curve to pick up the extra fabric I get under my bum cheeks. Its hard to get your head around the negative space you are trying to create to sit in. Ruan the colbalt blue would be gorgeous for the cropped pair. Good luck ladies!

This is a fantastic collaboration. i may have to join you on this one. I have some fabric which suits a toile, so I might buy the pattern. it’s good to challenge yourself and trousers certainly do. My problem is choosing the right fabric. I made the Lander pants, whilst they fit OK, the corduroy made me feel quite big. So I think it is the fabric that put me off the actual shape of the trousers so I have had in my mind to try the shape again in a less clunky fabric. Well done with your choice of pattern and all your fabrics, because they are not jumbo cord look fab.

I scored the crutch curve of my Hudson's. The waist was perfect but i had a baggy crotch. I put them on inside out and pinched out the fabric. Looks great.

Yes the turquoise is lovely 😍. We do appreciate that we can’t keep everyone happy with 100% of our content but as this was for trouser making and many people are put off this due to fluctuating weight etc that this would be relevant to how a lot of people may feel about trouser making x

  • @KarenScott6

Sometimes the timing is spooky. Yesterday I went to a fabric sale and managed to get 3m of a pale blue cotton twill for £3 p/m with the intention of using it to make a wearable toile.
So I am really looking forward to seeing how you all get on. Tamlyn, I love the stripe, I think they will look amazing and Ruan, I sort of would love to see them made up in that blue to see what a slightly drapier fabric would look like.
I am dreadful in that I measure myself and then add a bit because I am scared they won't fit. But I am gojng to try to be strong here and not add.
I want to make a dress first though (the one that Rachel has just made), I got the fabric for that in the same sale. But we are having a rubbish summer, so would I have a chance to wear it? Oooh decisions

Great stuff. I’m working on my first pair of Thea trousers. My bum is peckish rather than hungry (🫢) but really appreciate your tips Rachel. Having some issues with the waistband, doesn’t seem long enough but I’m sure I’ve cut it correctly so need to figure that out. Good luck all of you. ❤
