  • Are you a new groomer or a dog owner trying to groom your dog at home?! Then this video is for you! In this video we go through everything you need to know about when using clipper blade attachments including explaining the lengths, cost , how to put them on a clipper and what it should should like. It is very important to remember when using clipper blade attachments that your dogs hair is clean and completely de-matted as blade attachments allow you to cut the hair to a longer length than a clipper blade can.

      Yes I have, and with some success, but it was only my second attempt. My third will be this weekend after watching your clip…and I’m also going to be tackling my psychopathic furry baby’s morbid fear of clipping his nails (buying a recovery collar for my protection). The groomer always says she does his nails but they’re never really “clipped”, just nicked.

    Thank you for this very informative video! Just what I needed, although I just got a Wahl 5-in-1 clipper with its own set of guide combs. This is my first experience with grooming my Cocker Spaniel myself, so now I know how to use the 30 or the 10 blade with the combs. Thanks so much for your very clear and detailed info!

    Thanks for a great explanation of various blades and attachments-I’ve been grooming my dogs for several years and still feel like I don’t know what I am doing(they never look as good in my eye) but had to learn since my dogs are unfortunately not properly socialized and cannot go to a groomer(sad face). You provided some great tips and info on the blade lengths and attachment combs which I use every time since I don’t want to cut too short and can always go shorter. Much appreciation from this doggy ‘DIYer’ groomer who had to learn and am constantly learning and always viewing videos and will add yours to my view list!

    So glad I found your channel I purchased a Oneisall clipper set that someone had mentioned was good for beginners after watching your video describing the different blades I checked and mine doesn't have a number and I know you said most are interchangeable but I'm not sure about this one. If you are familiar I would appreciate any information you can give me I have a miniature poodle and where I live it's difficult to get to a groomer The one at my local vet left the business and started her own at her home and it's near impossible to get an appointment there in about anywhere at this point in time. I am a registered nurse but I'm going to have to learn how to groom Lily myself and I want to have the right equipment based on your information I would be using a four and or a five blade, and she would be the only one I would be using my equipment on any tips or help you can give me I would greatly appreciate and I really have enjoyed watching your videos thank you for sharing your great talent.

      Thank you so much for your question and commenting! I’m happy to hear you are enjoying our videos:)
      I researched your clipper and the ones I found appears to have attachment combs but not interchangeable blades. Which is fine too if your dog is 100 percent dematted. You can choose the attachment comb that would match the 4f or 5f blade. You probably should get a pair of decent shears maybe look at getting the blunt nosed ones if you are afraid of scissoring around the face. I know it can be intimidating and scary especially if your pup doesn’t stay still. To be happy with your grooming job you will need shears though to tidy things up. I use the clippers to get the majority of the coat off and I go over the dog a few times. Then I scissor in spots that are needed. I do a ton of scissoring but until you are comfortable with your clipper work on that. Remember it’s only hair it will grow back!😊
      I will be doing a face trim video soon so look out for that. Thanks again and good luck with your pups grooming!🐶❤️

    Hi, thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge in this video and tthe clipper video, both very clear and informative.
    Im not a groomer, but in february i will be getting a Standard Poodle puppy, since they growth so much hair i will be getting the Andis Excel with the 10 and the 30 + attachments,
    i will take any recomendations :)

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks so much for your comment and question :)
      The andis clippers that you mentioned I think come with a 10 blade so you can use that on face, sanitary and feet but I always use a 30 on feet but you have to be careful of nicking in between the pads.
      Standard poodles are a ton of work to groom. I suggest to make it easier I would use a 4f on the body to keep him/her in a manageable length. As a puppy though I’m sure you will want the coat much longer for awhile until the adult cost grows in. So you should probably use long attachment combs so you can keep the coat longer. You may want to take the pup to the groomer for the first few grooms so the puppy gets used to all the new noises and then you can work away bits at a time while you are learning at home.
      I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions!🐶❤️

    I just subscribed. No, I've never used attachment blades, but am going to order the 1" and the 1/2". I'm NOT a groomer but I want to learn to groom my 1 year old ShihTzu. I also want to know ... where does the hair of the top knot stop and the ear hair begin? I have a terrible time trying to separate them. I'm thinking about cutting the top knot because my girl won't keep in anything pretty!! But I don't know where/how far to cut towards the top of the ear. Hope this makes sense.

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi there!
      Thanks for your comment.
      I hope I can explain this and you can understand what I mean. It’s really hard to explain in writing without showing you.
      I actually just did this with two Shitzu’s that have always had a top knot. I had it in a pony and then cut the pony off. Before you do that make sure that the ear has more hair hanging over it so you don’t cut off too much.
      You basically have to go by feel and what looks the best because each dog has a different shape to their head and different sized ears.
      Cut the pony off and then slowing blend the head into the back of the neck. Make sure the ears don’t start too far up on the head. Keep taking off hair above the ear until they are even on both sides. Keep feeling the ear and where the leather of the ear starts from the top of the head.
      Remember it’s only hair it will grow back eventually! Its trial and error.
      If the top knot isn’t really long it’s easier and you can do it in small stages a bit at a time.
      I really hope this makes sense and like I said it’s really hard to explain without a dog to actually show you on. Send pics if you like and I can try and explain on your dog.
      Feel free to email as well! (Furryfriendszone1@gmail.com)
      I hope this helps!
      Take care and keep safe and healthy.

    Hi! I have a Wahl 5-in-1 adjustable blade. I was wondering if the Wahl attachment combs can be used on this blade? Because it is not the same shape and doesn’t seem to fit. Or can you buy a non-adjustable 30 blade and then use the combs? My clippers have a round shape and so does the 5-in-1 blade. They don’t look like the same square shape as these blades.

Great informative video by the way you have a great series and channel.

      Do not use a 7 blade on your dog. You will cut him for sure. It’s a very sharp skip toothed blade. Return it. I know from experience. Just used it once and cut the dog.

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  Před 3 lety

      Hello! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We love the feedback. You are well on your way to having a good selection of blades but I would suggest probably getting a 4f or 5f if your pups get matted. Attachment combs won’t go through them. The 4f cuts a little longer than the 5f but they will get under matting. Try to avoid using the 7f as that’s a tricky blade to use and can cut your dog easily. I hope this helps and please let us know if you have any further questions we are happy to help!😊

    Hi I have decided to groom my own dog and was wondering what you can recommend as far as a clipper and attachments. I own a Coton de Tulear. I was considering buying a shernbao pgc560 or shernbao pgc 660. The review says it has 5000 to 7000 strokes per minutes, is that more than I need. I am a complete amateur, and wonder if and is or wall is a better choice, thanks, Anita

      @FurryFriendsZone  Před rokem

      Hi there thanks for watching. I am not familiar with the clippers you mentioned but they do seem very fast which means the blades will get hot faster. As far as comb attachments that really depends on how long you want to leave the coat and how well he/she is brushed out. Comb attachments only work I completely dematted coats. The attachments combs will have the length on them. I hope this helps

    No, I’ve never used the attachment blade before. I owned 5 in 1 (the one that not all metal, kind of plastic at the attachment area) and I never be able to attach it. I think I bought a wrong one. I owned KM 10 and use it for my dog and love it. Could you please advise if I need to order the metal one like your or Please show me how to attach it? I owned blade no. 10 7F 3F but only use no.10. Thanks in advance.

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  Před 3 lety

      Hello! Thank you very much for commenting. The 5 in 1 clipper has just one blade that is adjustable and has plastic attachment combs that are only compatible with the 5 in 1 clipper whereas the KM10 you put your 10 blade or 30 blade on the clipper and then add the length of the attachment comb you want to use. I would recommend using the KM10 since you already have it as it is a great clipper and then just buy the additional blade attachments you want for the desired length. I hope that helped! If you have any additional questions please let us know:)

      Thanks again. I ordered attachment comb 1/2 and 1 inch and blade 30 and used it yesterday. It works nicely. Questions:
      1.If I want to use attachment comb 25 mm (1 inch) which blade no. I should use.
      2.What blade no. (10?) and attachment comb size for legs?
      3.What blade no. and attachment comb (?) for paws?
      Thanks so much. Your VDO is very helpful. It’s easy and clear to understand and you make it short which I really like.

    So, theoretically I can use 10 blade and get all hair lengths with attachments, never having to buy another blade. I am guessing there must be reason why there are so many blades. Could someone explain the difference between 4FC without attachment and 10 blade with attachment of same length?

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Charlie! Thanks so much for watching and for your question. I use a 30 under attachment combs as I find they are a smoother cut but some do use a 10. An attachment comb leaves a fluffier look and the dog has to be completely mat free but a 4f blade will be more aggressive at getting through mats that aren’t brushed out. Ultimately the same length is achieved but just used for different reasons. If you have any other questions please let us know :)
