    Well I finally got to finish up the new long range shooting backstop with the Kioti. In this last segment watch as I finish grading the side berms, lay down fabric and 3 inch crusher gravel, grade it and then get it planted with some leftover seed that I had (grass, oats and wheat). We got a steady rain the day after this so lets hope the seed takes and it turns out fantastic. This backstop is over 600 yards from my new shooting stand location. Please share this video if you've enjoyed it so that others who would like to can follow along with us on living our country dreams of owning land and making the absolute most out of it! Thanks! Nice looking project! Very well thought out, as usual. Super smart to go with the 4 in 1 bucket on your Kioti.

    One of the best things I found was a hand seeder that’s stiff plastic instead of cloth. It holds about a gallon, maybe gallon and a half. I don’t have to worry about it spilling and it’s so much easier, for me, to spread seed by hand.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před 6 lety

      yeah, I agree, I've had quite a few of those, but they break much easier for some reason... I always grab one when I see them in the stores though :)

    Looking Good. It ain't easy grading those #3 level. The turkey will love those Oats and Wheat seed. lol. I sowed twice as much seed as called for just to get a stand so they wouldn't eat all my seed. I used Rye grass seed for quick coverage. The turkeys don't seem to eat as much of it.

    Do you think you will need something like a straw mat for the slope on the back stop to keep it from eroding before the grass gets established? I know you have problems with highly erodible soil there.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před 6 lety

      yeah, depends on how lucky/unlucky I get with mother nature. Probably will settle some, but I can always run a couple loads out there with the dump truck when it dries up some..

    Kapper liked the circle design looked liked eyes and nose super long tongue 🐍. Was that to see if were paying attention or just turn out that way? 😄. Don't understand why U-tube keeps changing video settings to occasionally and after last update I can't read replies to comments unless I log out and log back into account and then it starts again.

      Still doing well, weeds took hold of the backstop so it is stable. Just needs to be bush hogged a bit and I can use it any time! Thanks.

    It would be fun to see how by old 30-30 would do at the distance... I ain't ever had a scope on it, but at that distance I nay need one. My eyes are a few years older than they were last time I shot it about 18 years ago when I quit hunting. All because a 15 year old kid tried to kill me. I almost beat the hell out of his daddy, thank God the preacher was there to stop me...

    Why would you put a "Loud" gun range on an area you want to use/lease for hunting ?? First two or three shots and there isn't going to be a deer in 30 miles !. To sight in rifles we used to send people about 20 miles to the public range.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před 6 lety +2

      Not so... Deer are quite accustomed to shooting around here.. Not to mention they don't really know just what it is, so if it isn't right next to them, it has little effect. A few people said the same thing last summer when I shot pistol out back. That very evening the deer were back out on the pond dam (right near where I was shooting) eating the grass as usual. I don't particularly 'like' doing it, but I have more that I want to accomplish and don't get around as good as I'd like so that Is why I build it all right in my back yard. thanks.

      @mrdave2112 Před 5 lety +1

      Grant, by the time I walk back to the house after shooting, deer are in the field browsing next to my gun range. Deer get accustomed to shooting just like they do to the sound of my diesel tractor. A lot of non-hunters and city boys are not aware of this.
