- Next week, Dweezil Zappa will be opening the virtual doors to The Official Dweezil Zappa Reverb Shop, where the guitarist will sell incredible guitars, boutique pedals, and more gear used on stage and in the studio throughout his career. A portion of the proceeds from this shop will also go to support Feeding America.

Had one but decided it was too heavy. Two years later I bought a half stack 100 watt head and cabinet that no one wanted. SMOH

Same here, My brother just sent me a Charvel San Dimas (MIM) that he had Sims Custom Shop paint the correct color on it. Hard to find and expensive when you do.

Every time I saw I’m done they pull me back in... Huge Dweezil fan. Saw him live and he played his ass off all night long. Steve Vai was there, Terry Bozzio, epic concert. Even bigger fan of his father. Sunrise Redeemer & That’s Not Really Reggae...2 of the best guitar pieces of music I’ve ever heard. Master improviser and writer.

There is a story I read somewhere about Frank Zappa and Steve Vai working together (just before releasing his album Flex-able I suppose), and it was the time Yngwie had his first album Rising Force on the market. The story goes that Zappa told Steve Vai "That kid knows how to play...". He was very impressed, and it's difficult to impress Frank Zappa.

This is a trick question, right? He’s ridiculously accomplished. He’s toured his own stuff and he’s toured Zappa Plays Zappa where he’s shown to be many times more proficient than his old man.

Yep. Most people don’t realize that the Rasta is also the Circles “Unchained” guitar and Ed painted over it. He only played that guitar for one song because he kept it tuned down. He said it was unbelievably heavy....
I went and watched "Heartbeat".. cheesy, but no where near as bad as Billy Squier's "Rock Me Tonite"

We all know that even though we want these instruments and gear to go to someone who will appreciate them, scalpers will be the first to buy them and double if not triple the price. i.e..Dave Mustaine's old gear

Is it strange that the worst sounding instrument of the bunch was the "Dweezle" PRS? It's not that it was terrible but it was so tight and bright. I expected some kind of versatility to it but it's an ear ripper.
Yeah Reverb for awhile has had a sound profile when they record for guitar where it is very "thin". Not sure if it's too aggressive a bass cut or they are trying to make sure to optimize it for mobile but all the guitars often sound thin and don't have any bass or girth to their recorded sound. I still love the site and the media they provide but it's been that way for awhile. I think it may come across to some as slick or professional but it's not really visceral in nature.
Why is he selling iconic gear he’s owned for decades? Is he hurtin’ for cash. I can’t imagine selling my first guitar!
Nah I can't imagine he is with how well he and his dad have done. Probably just selling it for people to play rather than sit in cases
Covid = No touring = No money
He said these have just been sitting in cases in storage, not getting used. So he figured if someone wants to buy one, they'll use it. A lot of artists do that, when their storage starts to get full.
He makes his money playing SG's these days.

not necessarily. I have bought stuff from other artist's reverb shops before. I am sure the better guitars will be out of reach but maybe something else won't be. I talked down a foot pedal I bought from Rich Robinson, which made it more affordable. you never know. I'll be checking it out for sure.
Maybe not sell them all to one vulture....maybe try not to let Essex erhm I mean one person inflate then dictate the entire market. but then again it makes reverb money, so I doubt that they really care.
The prices are absolutely outrageous. Dweezil is seeking $35k for a Charvel?? A pointy headstock Floyd Charvel is worth what, $3k on a good day? How does Dweezil Zappa ownership make it work 10x that?? And a $3k PRS McCarty is somehow worth $15k? Dweezil always seemed like a cool dude but he is not exactly an artist that is going to add that kind of premium to an instrument . Dave Mustaine, who has a much larger following than Dweezil sold some of his gear on Reverb for very reasonable prices. I am really embarrassed for Dweezil....
